Just got back from a fantastic week at this site.
The owners were very welcoming and helpful and kept the place spotless.
Was lovely to be able to walk on the rocky beach each morning with the dogs and to see everyone enjoying the camp fires of an evening.
We were on the sheltered field which was lucky as when the wind kicks up it does it in amazing style!
This is a great base to explore the surrounding area, we went on Anglesey and found the surreal Copper Kingdom at Amlwch. Took the steam train from Porthmadog to Caernarfon, went for loads of wonderful walks and on a Segway experience plus lots more.
Nearest shop is about 1 mile away and there are all the essentials in the site shop if you are caught short.
Very friendly, relaxed site.
One to remember for future visits

Lovely site with fantastic views of the sea and surrounding mountains. Stayed for 6 nights with a mixed bag of weather, but when the sun did shine the resulting sunset was amazing.
Toilets were always clean with plenty of hot water and additional toilets on bottom field also aptly maintained.
Owners very helpful and accommodating especially when my EHU wasn't long enough as I'd pitched my tent to far away.
There are lots of attractions locally with a couple of old steam railways, Mount Snowden and Caernarfon Castle as well as plenty of beaches and areas to walk dogs within a 5 mile radius.

We stayed at this site when the winds and rain really hit Wales. It is a lovely site right on the beach (which is rocks and pebbles). You can light fires on the beach and we took some camping logs with us and collected drift wood.
The road down to the site is a little precarious, however, it looked as though the owners did help with this if required, towing caravans up onto the main road where there was a lay-by and also onto the site, if I had a caravan I would definitely take advantage of this as it was bad enough in a car, however this would definitely not put me off coming here again, it is a real little gem.
The facilities were clean and we never had to wait for a shower (20p needed if washing hair you did need two). Bearing in mind how unbelievably wet it was it was amazing how clean the facilities were. The outside pot washing area was quite well sheltered by trees and a canopy.
On the one good morning we had it was lovely washing up as a stream runs alongside. Great for the kids to paddle in very safe whilst you are washing up. There is plenty of space for kids to play.
There are a number of fields to choice from some as close to the sea as I have ever seen (many years camping) and a couple of pitches by the river. We met the lady owner who was very friendly and helpful.
We were warned a couple of days before the storms hit and more sheltered pitches were offered if required, however, although we had a sea view we were sheltered by the trees and had no problems with the severe weather.
Definitely recommend and would definitely visit this site again.

Lovely site clean well kept, Stunning views, The beach is stony, The track down to the site is a bit daunting we have 4x4 so was not a problem for us, The owner will take your van up for you.
The showers are a bit far away from the fields so is the rubbish area, Watching the sun go down was stunning, You have to travel to go to the shops/pubs.
The site has a nice little play area for children, Ideal here for children to play on the beach. They do storage for boats/caravans,
It has a little shop that is stocked with basic stuff. It has a snooker /TV room, also a laundry room.
We would go back again, also would recommend this site.

We stayed at Aberafon April weekend for 3 nights.
The site is fantastic.
Location is beautiful. Views of the mountains you can climb to one side and the sea on the other- fantastic.
The owners are very helpful.
The toilets block is clean and tidy. Showers (20p/3min. ) were hot and didn’t have to wait.
We were placed near the entrance where the area is sheltered by trees. Some other parts of the camp site are more exposed and designed more for small sturdy tents.
The camp fires are allowed on the beach which is fantastic way of spending night.
BBQ allowed on site off the ground.
The site is rather quiet, there were no noises after 10pm
There is a game room, laundry but didn’t use it so can’t comment on that.
Small shop in the office you can buy some “first aid” products.
If you are about Snowdon the trip won’t take longer than 20 min to get there.
Great site, will be back there soon.

This is the third visit to this site and my husband's first. We were originally places on a pitch on the bottom field next to the river. I wasn't keen on it as I wanted a view of the sunset with it being my husband first time on the campsite.
The guy at the shop was very helpful and offer us another pitch in one of the higher field right at the very front!
Putting the tent up was easy aside from a few pegs bending due to rocks deep in the soil. There was a slight slope but only noticeable when you woke up at the bottom of our air mattress!
Having a BBQ and fire on the beach was brilliant and the sunsets are amazing!
We didn't leave the site as we wanted a relaxing holiday. A range of people were camping from families to a group of teenagers who set up camp 2 pitches away. Not much noise at night!
The night sky is amazing on a clear night. I have never seen so many stars and so clear! We even saw a couple of space stations! Definitely don't forget a torch!
Toilets were clean and we didn't have to queue but there weren't many people camping. There was hot water every time we needed to wash our dishes. Music in the shower room is a nice touch! Didn't use the washing machine or tv room so can't comment.
Can't wait to go again!

A lovely, proper 'back to basics', campsite which gave our kids a welcome taste of freedom exploring the woods with toy swords and bow & arrows. And the rocky beach searching for driftwood, shells and skimming stones.
Beach is rocky, with shingle areas, campfires allowed on the beach. Slipway available for launching boats & kayaks and stream runs through the campsite onto the beach which is great for little ones to paddle safely.
Fishing improves in the evening when the watercraft aren't around.
Playground safe & well maintained kept our four (age 2yrs through to 9yrs) entertained throughout.
Pitches are spacious and reasonably flat, many with sea views can be windy but no more than what you would expect from a coastal campsite.
During our stay toilets & showers facilities were clean and well lit, no queues and Radio 2 playing in the Showers, separate cubicles in shower block for drying hair and washing kids etc.
Helpful & friendly owners and generally relaxed atmosphere amongst fellow campers.
Small shop open for a hour in the morning and evening for those forgotten bits and pieces and chocolate, you can ring the office bell during day if you needed to speak to them.
Tumble Dryer & Washing Machine available (didn't use so can't comment), freezer available for freezing icepacks (no charge).
Pool Table and cable TV in 'Games Room' again didn't use so can't comment.
Access to site is steep and narrow but manageable with a fully loaded car, but imagine it could be interesting getting a caravan up and down!
Tesco in Caernarfon & Asda in Pwhelli provide all the basics.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay even with very cold nights. Have already booked to return

My wife, greyhound and I had a fabulous five days at Aberafon. The campsite is in a rural area of Wales, but not far from Nefyn beach or Pwllheli.
The campsite is a really narrow road down so if you have a caravan then take it easy. Friends we were camping with had a trailer that the owners towed to the top upon leaving and this is something that they do a lot.
With possible bad weather we asked to be pitched on the sheltered area of the site- and I would strongly advise this if the weather is windy.
The other areas look out onto the sea and the campsites private beach and whilst the view is beautiful (no exaggeration) it is ten times more windy. The sheltered section is so much more calmer but the pitches are close.
We paid £7 per adult, £3 for electric and £1. 50 for the pooch so overall £18. 50 per night, which during Easter holiday is more than reasonable.
On the last night we had a camp fire on the beach and with the beach on the west coast of Wales, we sat and watched the sun go down.
The main toilet/shower block is clean and the showers are 20p for three minutes and the water is really powerful and hot. You even get radio 2 whilst you shower!
There is a small shop open from 9am-10am and 6pm-7pm that sells essentials and a pool table.
I didn't see much of the owners, this is not a criticism, I just didn't need their help/assistance, but when I spoke to them in the shop they are very friendly.
It as a very nice small campsite and we would definitely return. In the summer, the view from the beach field would be just as good as any other view in the world.

We have just returned from a long weekend at this site during the Easter break, the facilities are very basic with toilets dotted around the site, every time we went to wash the dishes the water was cold.
The main showers and toilet facilities are located as you enter, with 20p for 3 minutes of water, which took 20 secs to heat up.
The beach is very rocky so don't expect an afternoon on the beach with the kids, quite a large site and did not feel crowded at all, please only beware of the entrance, the trip down the track was bad enough, but the trip back up was horrendous we thought we were going to loose the caravan, fortunately the site owner came and helped us to which I am eternally grateful!

Visited the site with my Husband, Son and dog. Only stayed 3 nights but had a fabulous time. Weather was great the pitch we had was on the upper site with amazing sea views. Had beach fires in the evening to take off the chill and watched the sunset. Facilities were very good and easily accessible. Various Shops available locally and there is a small shop on site that sells basic necessities just in case. I visited this site regularly as a child and it still had all the magic I remembered. Will definitely be booking up for a longer visit next year.
