A pleasant well kept site within short distance of
M4. Lane to site bit narrow for large units but
Ok with care. We stayed on lover field ground very wet but with help of friendly owner we pitched ok. Site busy but quiet didn't look at the fields up the steps. We were told of traffic noise but we hardly noticed as we live on main road this was peace to us. Toilet block very small but at time of our visit the new block was almost finished it looked good with disabled room site a bit steep for disabled unless camped on top part of lover field. Very handy site for visiting local area and not far from beauty beach at Pembrey.
Would def come back again.

The dog walking area is well fenced and was a good size.

Having spent a few nights here in June 08 I can only endorse what other reviewers have said - the site is spotlessly clean, the owners are very friendly with always a moment to chat to you, and wardens show you to your pitch and explain about the facilities.
The site was quite full on the Saturday night (yet I still didn't have to queue for anything in the washroom) and to my surprise a warden even came over to me and apologised for having to put a motorhome in front of my tent for one night!
Every time I drove back at night after dining out with friends (at the Red Lion at Llandybie, which I highly recommend), I was too late for the locking of the gate at 10:30 (10:00 one night) but this was no problem at all as nowhere on the lower field is more than a few paces from the entrances, so it was as quiet as could be.
A couple of previous reviewers have mentioned traffic noise. I must point out that the noise is very much in the distance, just a faint roar. It would be nice if it wasn't there at all, but I can say with all honesty that it didn't disturb me at all in a tent, even though I am a light sleeper.
The peacefulness of this site and the care with which it is run was reflected in the people who stayed there, for I found everyone so relaxed and friendly.

Further to reading reviews and a friend's recommendation spent 3 nights at River View end of May bank holiday.
We were put in the lower field as no kids. This part of the site is clearly more sheltered than the top and in the wind and rain were pleased to be pitched on this part. Quite tight to other holiday makers and had a bit of trouble pitching tent as pitch very rocky only an inch or two from surface. Warden offered some assistance which was useful.
Site is lovely and quiet, we didn't even know there were kids in the fields up the steps until we had a walk around.
Facilities excellent - plenty of sinks for washing up with hot water. Toilets were also excellent, regularly checked and cleaned. Even though visiting at Bank Hol never had to queue for a shower. Showers were extremely clean, a compliment to the staff and other campers.
Great you can recycle too.
You can hear the main road from the site but it doesn't disturb you as such. No shops within walking distance, although a small Tesco is only a short drive.
Good location for Brecon Beacons

This is a beautiful, well managed site in a beautiful part of the country. Immaculately clean showers and toilets. Environmental management is encouraging. Only problem we had (apart from the awful weather!) was the longish walk to the loos. Down - then up - two lots of steps and the slope to the top of the field, which looked gentle, was deceiving. It was quite a pull! No playground for children but big area of top field left empty - unfortunately our tent fronted this so problem with footballs whacking tent on occassion from two budding pro. Footballers!
Site owners and wardens very friendly and helpful, pointing out lovely walks and facilities plus loads of leaflets. Plenty to do around. Now if we could book the weather we would go back. Probably will anyway!

We only spent 1 night at this site as we used it as a stop off point to West Wales due to it close proximately to the end of the M4. The site is approached via narrow single track road but we encountered no problems. The facilities are spotless and is worthy of all the good press it has received. The TV reception was good, and there is a small shop selling the basics. Apparently during high season the range does grow. The welcoming was warm by the owners and we were personally shown to our pitch by an eager warden. The site accepts cash only. We enjoyed our short stay and have planned to stay again.

Just returned from a lovely stay at this site.
All facilities are clean and well maintained. Only two showers but always managed to get a shower straight away without waiting (every day!)
Quiet site, glad we stayed on top/middlefield as I felt lower field looked a little congested, but I think these are long term pitches.
Only negative, we had a lot of rain at night and as our pitch (63) wasn't a hard standing, we were water logged in our awning. Drainage seemed to be a bit of a problem. This affected 61, 62 and 63.But nevertheless, good positions otherwise and it didnt affect our holiday, we just kept things off the ground.
Wild flowers on the site were beautiful.
We felt the position of the site was excellent allowing us to tour most of the south including the Gower. Worms Head is a must on a clear day.

SURROUNDING AREA: 5* Loads to do - for every taste.
ACCESS:5*Very close to M4and so easy to find.
PITCHES:5*Lovely spacious pitches.
FACILITIES:5* Wonderful showers/toilets.
STAFF/OWNERS: 5* All so very helpful & pleasant.
LOCAL BROCHURES: 5* Extensive selection.
SHOP: Like a little village/corner shop - very useful.
We can't say enough about this lovely place. We only stayed three nights but you need three weeks to see all the fabulous and diverse sights. If you stayed a month it wouldn't be long enough on this happy, relaxed site. Well done to the Owners and Staff for their thoughtfulness. Thanks to them all.

My wife and I have just returned after spending 5 nights at River View. This was our first visit and I can say that the site is so good and much better than any we have stayed at before. What makes this site so special is the small warm and cosy family feel to it. The owners and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and it is so professionally run. Unlike any campsite we have been to before, everyday you would meet the owners and staff and be able to have a chat and a laugh, so relaxed. The ice-block facility/freezer is free but I chose to make a donation in their charity box, the boiler room was offered to us more than once to dry wet clothes and coats, the shop is stocked with all the essentials and more and I can personally recommend the welsh cakes and without a doubt the chocolate covered toffee waffles are heavenly with hot chocolate or coffee each night. The showers are free and so hot although we were concerned at there being only 2 each, but we went at a busy time and neither of us ever had to queue. The site is so wonderfully quiet although the noise from the local main roads was noticeable at night but not enough to keep you awake. We were pitched in the middle of the couples only site, although busy we never felt cramped. The stream running round this field is lovely and clean, but by the last couple of days had turned into a raging torrent from the excessive downpours we suffered. But no one seemed unduly concerned and it slowly receded. If you are thinking of visiting DO SO! I can promise you will not be disappointed.

My girlfriend and I stayed here on the 9th and 10th of August and were very lucky with the great weather.
We were looking for a basic campsite to try out new Vango Killington 400, but we got allot more!
Being our first proper camping trip in a tent we didn't really know what to expect as far as facilities etc but we were far from disappointed at this campsite. Great campsite location, great facilities and even though it is not an adult only campsite it felt as if it was as the owners managed to keep the couples in one field and the families in the other!
Toilets, showers and washing facilities are all clean and modern and never had to wait for a shower, even though the campsite seemed full. It was a great feeling after a very cold night in the tent to step into a heated shower block at 7 o'clock in the morning. Was tempted to fetch sleeping back and have an extra hours sleep in there to warm up :-P
Great little shop on site which was well stocked, there are also many leaflets advertising local attractions along with plenty of advice from the owners. We had a great day at the Pembrey country park, only 10 minutes drive from the campsite with the best beach I have been to in wales.
Definitely recommend this site and we hope to go back for a longer stay after we have experienced a few more camping sites with our new tent :-)
we stayed on pitch 15. You can see this in my profile pic.
