We stayed here for 5 nights, end of July/beginning of August. Lovely owners, very friendly and helpful, good communication before we booked and after. Large pitches, not at all crammed in. Fantastic showers - there were two in the Ladies and two in the Mens, 4 toilets in the Ladies and wash basins, hairdryer (not sure about the mens). One family room and One disabled room both of these contained a shower, toilet and wash basin. All free and plenty of hot water. We found the family room very useful for getting the kids showered and dressed, Keith said we could use the disabled room too if there wasn't anyone less able waiting for it so that was handy if the family room was in use, saying that I did take my eldest (5yrs old) into a normal shower cubicle with me one day and there was enough space. Outside washing up area, always plenty of (free) hot water. Negatives - The only one I can think of is 'road noise' the site is right next to the A483 although its well screened with trees so you can't see it at all but you can definitely hear it! saying that it didn't disturb my sleep and our pitch was probably one of the closest ones to the road. We ate here a couple of times, just a few miles away. We had bar meals, kids portions also available which went down well with our two as a drink and ice-cream was also included (£3.99 each) http://www.themountaingate.co.uk Natareen's eatery & coffee bar - Good breakfasts here! 17 Wind Street Ammanford SA18 3DN Plenty to do in the surrounding area & fab beaches. All in all a lovely campsite, apart from the road noise it has a very relaxing and quiet feel to it, even though we visited during the summer holidays there were no rowdy families as soon as it started to get dark people headed for bed, Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

We had found this site on the UKCampsite.co.uk and decided as it is not far from where we live it would be worth a visit. We booked for 4 adults to stay for the weekend and when we arrived Brian showed us to our pitch which was flat and of a generous size. It is such a pretty site and the facilities are of a high standard. In fact they have "loo of the year" award for 2007 - well deservedly so. One of the down sides is the number of showers. There are only 2. It is not so bad this time of the year but I should imagine you would have to queue to use them when the site is fully booked. We decided to eat outside of our tent as it was a warm sunny evening and were discussing what we had done through the day when Brian came to the tent and asked us to keep the noise down. We really couldn't believe it and asked if someone had complained, but they had not. It really spoiled our weekend as from then on we were afraid to talk let alone laugh. As far as we were aware we weren't talking that loud and it was ONLY 6.30 p.m. I don't like a lot of noise myself but it was early and you cant expect people in tents to have to whisper. We came to the conclusion that they preferred to have caravans on site. Perhaps he should be awarded the jobs worth cap! Gates are closed to cars from 10.30 pm which is good as no-one wants to be disturbed that time of night. We did love the site but would have to think long and hard before returning.

We agree with everyone else's comments about what a great site this is to visit. Superb facilities, friendly hosts - and really helpful, friendly and hardworking wardens Brian and Andrea - lovely setting with lots of trees and the babbling river around the edge; our dog loved the river. Prices excellent value too. Situation is great. 15 mins from the National Botanic Garden (check out the leaflets in Tourist info for a BOGOF voucher and save £8!) 45 mins from Gower; similar distacnce from Black Mountain, via Amanford, for staggering scenery. We chose this site on the strength of reviews and the fact it's dead easy to get to, 3 mins off end of M4. The one "however" is the proximity to roads. In spite of what another reviewer said you can hear road noise, constantly, but it's not enough to spoil it (if you want total silence, though, it's not here). We will return, if they'll have us.

Lovely campsite. Clean and peaceful with a pretty river running through it. There is an exercise field for dogs and also a woodland lane. Some fully serviced pitches on the top field. Very well laid out and large pitches. Owners are very friendly. Toilet block was absolutely spotless and showers were free. Very environmentally aware campsite which we will be visiting again without doubt. Only downside for us was no dog friendly pub within walking distance (or short drive for that matter) but it's only a short drive to ALDI's at Crosshands and we enjoyed a quiet drink in the campsite instead. Carmarthen (Caerfyrddin - land of Merlin the Magician) is about 20 mins drive away with plenty of shops, pubs etc. There are lots of castles and other attractions in the area.

We stayed from April 5th to April 9th 2007 and had a fantastic time. Kath and Kim are the most friendly and caring campsite owners I have ever met! The campsite is kept very clean and tidy. The new toilet block is cleaner than the ones in my office and the showers are free and so very hot. Kath and Keith put us on the lower field which had lots of couples and all the tents/caravans with children were in the top field, that way it was nice and quiet - they had obviously thought about everyones needs. We had a really good time and will definitely be back!

Possibly the friendliest host (Keith) and cleanest conveniences we have ever encountered. Keith tries to split families and couples into separate fields to ensure everyone has a stress free stay. Attention to detail is amazing with fresh flowers in the WC block. We visited with a twin axle and were given a very spacious pitch with easy access, although all of the pitches looked quite big. Small shop selling the basics plus some local delicacies like fudge and waffles. Fantastic supply of leaflets and local info. Site is just two mins from the end of the M4 with easy access to the Gower and Pembrokeshire coast. The only downside to our long weekend, and this was nothing to do with the site, was that we were very disappointed with the nearby town of LLanelli. It seemed a bit run down compared with other nearby coastal destinations such as Tenby.

March 2005 What a camp site, the most friendliest hosts in Kath and Kieth and of course the wardens as well Carol Ken. Yes we went when the weather was bleak but it was so peacefull and out of the way you just had to relax.
Will definately be going back there now that they have a new shower block and the new tent pitches. And the cakes were lovely, ask my wife. Have recommended to my friends and they have all said how much they have enjoyed their stay. Well done everyone at the The Dingle.

September 2004 Just visited River View. Lovely place. Keith & Kath helpful and friendly. Ideal spot if you are looking for a quiet break - no clubhouse etc but not a problem for us. Toilets/showers clean and plenty of hot water. Plenty of space between pitches. Only complaint - Kath had not made any cakes this weekend!

July/August 2004 I cannot say enough good things about this campsite. On arrival Kath & Keith were so welcoming and friendly. Our pitch was by far superior than other sites I have stayed at, a large allocation of land is given to each plot. The setting is wonderful, so very peaceful with a very pretty river running alongside with plenty of wildlife to see. The site being so peaceful made it a relaxing place to be. The best bit about the shop is Kaths homemade cakes which I just gorged myself on and made a complete pig of myself. Kath and Keith really made the weekend as they were just so nice and nothing was too much trouble, the couple who warden the site were also great. Just a lovely atmosphere about the place, from chatting with the people washing up in the next sink to you, to walking the dog immediately outside of the site with of course the river for them to swim in. It is so idealy situated just off the end of the M4, far enough away in a secluded spot so you hear absolutely no traffic, an ideal touring base for the Gower etc. Lots of lovely places to visit, we shall definately be going back to this site without question.
