This was a fairly basic site but in a nice quiet area. Good for walking, although we never got the chance! We stayed in early May and it wasn’t terribly busy, despite it being a bank holiday weekend. The owner was helpful and friendly and didn’t mind us arriving early. The toilet block was clean and of a good size. The shop seemed ok but was only open for about an hour a day, so difficult to catch (not licensed either). Not far from the village of Llangadog, with a few shops and pubs. The site was not very well lit up at night so torches were needed. The river was lovely and the children had lots of fun playing and fishing, but it did get very cold at night. There had been some heavy rain before we arrived and quite a few pitches were waterlogged and roped off. Would probably stay again. Good value.

A little gem of a campsite.

We are a family with two boys and this site is one of our favourites. Our boys just love playing around the woods and river, which are both within the boundaries of the campsite. It gives them a chance to be real boys and play like I used to as a child. The river is no more than knee deep and is perfectly safe for children to have adventures.

The facilities are dated but immaculate and very quaint. The toilet block is always warm and the water nice and hot in the showers.

The shop is very basic now due to the owners not able to stock up like they used to but what lovely people. They are looking to retire soon and I just hope that the new owners don't loose the special feeling and atmosphere of this endearing, charming little site.

Have just spent a lovely Easter weekend at this site. We were greeted by the lovely lady owner on arrival and were told we could pitch wherever we liked!

The site is set in 15 acres and has a lovely riverside walk also hidden in the woods is a tree swing! On site there is a small park with swings and a slide. There is an on site shop selling all sorts including basics like tea and coffee and toys for the children.

The main toilet/shower block was closed for redecorating, this did not bother us. And the toilet that was available was extremely clean. Because the showers were out of use we were charged at a significantly reduced rate which was an added bonus! But would have been more than happy to pay full price as even at full price it is very reasonable.

I would highly recommend this lovely, quiet, tranquil site, we will definitely be returning.

We needed to stay in this area of Carmarthenshire whilst viewing properties for sale, and was unable to contact any Caravan Club CLs (even with 2 days before we left). So, I searched on here and this site seemed to be ideal - location and previous good reviews. I phoned at 6. 30 pm and the owner answered the phone immediately - very friendly and flexible with our arrival time (we wanted to arrive earlier than usual) as it was out of the school holidays.

On arrival the next morning we were greeted by the same friendly owner and had free choice of which pitch to use (there were several sited caravans/motorhomes, but only one other touring unit there). A beautiful green valley site - surrounded by woodland, with the constant presence of the gorgeous river running through it.

Excellent toilet block, water points etc. Yes, they are older, but absolutely immaculate and everything works. I had a shower one morning - and it was hot and good pressure. We decided to stay one more night, as it was such a pleasure to be there.

We had our 2 dogs with us, and we all loved the freedom of walking in the woods and footpaths, both within the site's land and leading away from it.

The only slight negative was the traffic noise and trains - both day and night. Best to be as far away from the front of the site as possible. However, this is literally fronting onto a busy A road, and access is, therefore, very easy - so what do you expect?

The woodland walks, excellent facilities and friendly owner more than makes up for this. I would not go in school holidays, as I can see this is heaven for kids and the number of sited caravans (most not being used whilst we were there) would mean that it would be a very different atmosphere at busy times. Also, extremely cheap - they could easily charge more.

We stayed here for two nights in our newly purchased large tent, along with family in their motorhome. No problem getting two adjacent electricity pitches. Pitches large, even for our 8 berth tent.

Great children's playground next to a small shop, didn't need to buy anything so can't comment on what it stocks apart from saw an ice cream sign. My 3 year old spent most of the time playing there and made friends with a few other children on the site.

Great location for a river that runs through it, accessible by walking through woods or going around to the little bridge the other end of the main field. We spent lots of time down there paddling with Welles, throwing stones in and sticks, took bucket and spade to play in water. It's lovely and cool over there if the weather is hot.

Toilet block clean, functional, showers roomy enough for me and daughter in together but could have done with a stool inside to sit her on to dress.

Make sure you have a torch to walk to toilets at night, out in the countryside it is very dark at 2am!

Some road noise but we were near the front of the site, if you pitch in main field further away it should be fine. We had earplugs and weren't disturbed.

Site fees very cheap at only £13 a night, for us we thought this brilliant value as we could keep our daughter happy on site and going for a wander around Llandeilo which is only 5 mins in the car. Pretty little town with nice gifts shops, pubs, cafes and ice cream/cake shop. Co-op in the town and also CK's supermarket.

Tried to book for August bank holiday but was full for electric pitches, otherwise we'd be back there tomorrow night!

We've just booked again to go here for the weekend as we had such a lovely time last summer, there is loads of room and you can park where ever you want. We went with friends who also had a camper van, it says a lot to us as they go to this site two or three times a year and its always the same. Nice and clean, friendly and cheap!

I cant say we noticed the traffic noise but we did stay at the far end of the site.

see you soon guys.

This is a really lovely small site run by lovely people - it is peaceful, with a stream running at the back and plenty of walking to do in the surrounding woods. I took a walk with the kids through the woods and they enjoyed playing in the stream for hours either in wellies or crocs - trying to catch a fish, building walk-ways, poking around with a stick.

There were no problems with noise either at night or in the daytime and this is just what we wanted.

There is a small shop that stocks the basics and the wash-rooms were clean and stocked with tissue etc, plus the added bonus of a proper tap in the shower and no silly tokens or button pushing!

The water in general could do with being hotter though, especially in the bathroom sinks and the washing up area, though it is more than hot enough in the showers.

We had a fair bit of rain and the pitches seemed to drain well except for the bottom left side of the field (pitches 16, 17, 18 & 19 being particularly affected).

It's within easy reach of Llandovery which has some nice pubs, cafes, a launderette and a good sized co-op.

This site is also very well priced in my opinion.

The couple who own this site are very helpful and friendly

Just got back from a 6 night stay at this site.

The site is beautiful and sheltered by trees on all sides, the pitches are mostly flat and there is plenty of space in the middle for games.

The owners are very nice people, and work extremely hard on the site, due to health they are considering selling up, which would be a shame as they do a great job.

There are 80 pitches but they said they only let out 40 at a time due to the work and their health.

The toilets and showers are a bit dated as a previous post said, but are perfectly clean and usable. They are cleaned several times during the day, and when we had rain and the field was muddy I never found the facilities in a mess.

The shop is basic, but sells a few useful items like small gas bottles, ice creams and toys.

The pich areas are in the middle of 20 acres of land, much of which is a wooded area that you can explore.

When booking they don't take a deposit, but take you on your word that you will show up. They ask you to pay at the end of your stay, in case you decide to go home due to bad weather, and then they wont charge you for the nights you miss. Not many sites wil do that.

We were a family of five in a large tent, and paid £15. 50 a night including EHU, which is very cheap!

I did tell the owner as I left that for what they are offering, they should raise their prices

What more is there to say, one of the best sites I have visited, and am going back next year.

Stayed at Abermarlais over the spring bank holiday weekend. What a beautiful site, all the pitches were pretty flat with just the outer ones on a slight slope.

We were pitched inside the walled garden so we could watch the kids play in the playground which had slide, swings and tennis nets erected.

Small shop on site which sold the basics but you are 6 miles to either Llandovery or Llandeilo both of which have supermarkets.

Toilet block - although a little outdated - was always clean with plenty of paper and soap provided. Showers were good old fashioned turn the tap, much preferred than push button kind as far as I'm concerned!

The chippy in Llandovery is very nice and a trip to the red kite feeding station is a must.

This site is definitely on my list of places to stay again.

Just had a lovely 4 night break here, the weather was good except the final night stay, the site was spotlessly clean and tidy, on arrival we were told we could pitch anywhere that there wasn't a reserved sign so we chose number 36 on the right hand side as didn't fancy being under electric pylons. We were told by other campers that this side was a sun trap and they were so right !

the showers were lovely and hot no fiddly push buttons just turn on the taps best of all they were free too, toilets were clean and always well stocked with toilet rolls but no soap or hand wash. Dish washing facilities were adequate but warm water not hot

my 3 children aged 16, 11, and 2 all loved the freedom this site allowed them as it back far away enough from the roads. The youngest loved the swings in the play area, whereas my 11 year old enjoyed playing in the stream, we all enjoyed the walks through the woods to find the old tree swing, the owners were friendly.

There is only small shop on site which sold bare essentials but co-op close by all in all fab time had by all but do remember to take insect repellant we also took our dog along and there were plenty of walks for her.
