Very disappointed with this site, although it is quite large & looks nice & it was the first caravan club site I have stayed on & to be honest it has put me off. Kids playling football around the caravans, which hit my caravan twice, so I wasnt too pleased. Wardens speeding round the site on the tractor, when it has a 5mph limit. Play area littered with nettles. People parking all over the grass when the pitches are quite ample.

Stayed here middle of April for 3 nights, brilliant site, would agree with other reviews regarding the Denison Arms and portion sizes, if you decide to go then don't have anything to eat that day.
TV reception is great, you can now get Freeview through the EHU point (only if you have a box).
Surrounding area is great, useful site to use as near to many great attractions, i.E. Scarborough, Whitby, North Yorks Moor Railway and Flamingo land.

This is a really nice site , with very ample hard standing pitches which include a good quality rf feed for the tv. The site was spotless and as I`ve come to expect of a cc site very quiet.
Loads of space for the kids to kick a football round on the playing field ( with 4 netted goals), 2 pool tables and a table tennis table. The walks just off the site through the village and the forge valley along side the river derwent are very nice , myself and Monty the boxer dog really enjoyed our walks.
There are 2 pubs within a short walk of the site both are nice , and if you like huge portions of food the Dennisons Arms is for you.
Only 4 miles from Scarborough so very handy if you like the seaside.
Many thanks to the very friendly and helpful wardens.

Spent a long weekend, What a lovely site. Great sports field for the kids to run off their excess energy, particularly good for kite flying. Excellent CC standard for all facilities. In a great location for Whitby, Filey, Scarborough and Dolby Forest - all worth a visit Would highly recommend and will be returning.

We visited West Ayton the last week of July. What a fab site. The site was large and spacious and on several layers. The site warden where very friendly and helpful. The site had an excellent dog walk (dogs can be let off their lead). If you follow the dog walk to the end to the large gate and turn right you can continue walking and will eventually reach the Castle (which is a ruin). If you turn left at the gate you will reach a sign for the a nature trail both excellent walks. For children there was a a play area for very young children, a play area for older children and a very large field for ball games complete with two sets of football nets. Whilst we where there an assault type course was under construction for older kids which looked very inviting. There was also a games room with two pool tables 50p charge and under a covered patio a table tennis table. My eleven year old loved the site said it was the best he had been to. West Ayton has a Spar, a pub and a fish and chip shop. By car Scarborough was a short drive away and what a lovely place. Did not know what to expect but it was a lovely place. There is a lift 50p one way unless you are lucky to find a parking space on the prom. The castle is a must very interesting and if like me (back problems and I don't do walking up hills) you can be dropped at the castle as the parking is down the hill. Peasholme park was nice made me giggle when all you could see where dragon boats going around the lake. The miniature railway was a nice trip too. We also visited Filey and Whitby both very nice and within easy travelling distance. We have decided to book again for next year at West Ayton as we ran out of time and never got around to visiting the North Yorkshire Moors railway or Eden Camp.

When we arrived here first impressions werent that great but site grew on us as holiday and weather got better. Some nice secluded pitches and well spaced out with great area at top end with games room football pitch and boules area better than most club sites. Wardens very welcoming and cheery throuout our stay. Toilets always immaculate and although not many showers never had to wait even though site full. Ideally situated to tour area or only 4 miles from attractions of Scarborough which is cleaner than expected and many attractions been updated since last visit. Will definetly return in future years.

This was our first ever camping trip away to this lovely site. The shower blocks were immaculate, staff were very friendly. This site also had an excellent dog walk. Would use this site again highly recommended. Ideally situated for touring the area around Scarborough and the surrounding area. We did not do much touring but we were only there 2 nights and wish we were there longer.

This is our second visit and I can't fault this CC site. Excellent facilities and a good Dog walk. Its an Ideal touring base for Whitby to the north and Bridlington to the south not forgetting the National park. A short visit to Goathland is a must for soap fans, Heartbeat, and if your a steam railway buff, The North Yorkshire Moors Railway operates steam trains along an 18 mile line between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont. This stops at Goathland which is also off Hogworts fame and you will see why when you get there. A nice walk for walkers is from the village of Ravenscar to Robinhoods bay via the old railway line, easy walk, returning via the coastal path, some steep steps along this route, approx 7miles. If you like pub grub, a visit to The Dennison Arms, East Ayton10 min walk from the site, will feed you for the rest of the week, I jest not! Morrisons supermarket 10min drive from the site and a good park and ride service at Scarborough if you want a day there. Others have said the rest, Enjoy.

This is the largest site we have stayed on so far. And while trying to find our pitch we went a bit astray, (could be a female thing!) but soon found where we would be staying for 2 nights. We stayed here to visit Pickering for the 40's weekend, (go to it if you can, its great, living history for us and the kids!) The staff are very friendly and can't do enough. Toilet blocks very clean and plenty of hot water. The staff have even put together a West Ayton trail for the kids to complete and return to reception, that kept my 9 year old amused for a while! The pitches were a very good size. The shop caters for most of your needs, eggs, milk, papers, etc. 4 miles from Scarborough and half a mile from the village its location is great. If you get into village the local Spar is handy and the Dennison Arms will serve you a meal that I defy anybody to eat and not feel full! We had 4 main courses and 2 desserts and it came to just under £30.can't go wrong! CC has done it again! Top notch site.
