Friendly wardens were very helpful when we arrived late and without a booking. Pitches were all grass but pretty level. Toilet blocks were clean and available ok with code. Weather was very windy but toilet block not too cold and showers were good and hot.
As suggested in earlier review the best time to see the dolphins is in the two hours immediately after low tide at the point. We were not disappointed.
You can see Fort George across the firth and it looks huge.
We travelled up to Cromarty next morning after watching the dolphins again for about an hour, and left the black isle via the northern coast road from Cromarty and it is worth seeing as it is right alongside the Cromarty Firth for quite a way with views across the firth to giant oil platforms and a visiting cruise liner with snow capped hills behind. What a contrast.
We will be back to the Rosemarkie site and as we are 'mature' C&CC members we get club rates at a concession so disagree with the earlier reviewer who suggested the site was expensive. It is not.
Road through site was quiet during our stay and silent through the night although I could see this still being a concern to parents of young kids

Right on the seafront on the Moray Firth, a lovely location and well known for Dolphins although we didn't see any on the two days we stayed. Not a child friendly site with signs saying for them to play in the park up the road. The small shop/reception sells fresh eggs. It was made quite clear to us by the Warden in reception that it was our fault for not seeing that the site had no drain facilities for motorhome's but being new to this we didn't realise, thankfully the man that showed us to our pitch took pity on us and opened a manhole.
The showers/toilets were warm and clean and had private cubicles for wash basins, the laundry/dishwashing facilities were also good. We ate Sunday lunch at Crofters Bistro a 10 minute walk along the seafront, very nice food and very friendly staff. There is a local Spar shop a 15 minute walk away and also a delicatessen. The pitches are all grass and after a lot of rain at the end of our stay we were stuck, there are no towing facilities and being a hire motorhome we had no gripper mats but thankfully the same kind man who opened the manhole helped us with wood and then pulled us out using his own car.

This site is best approached as directed in the hand book else you arrive facing the wrong direction to drive onto the site and take your pitch.
Very friendly helpful site managers, husband & wife team. We were given a choice of pitches as the site was not full. All pitches are grass, which is uneven, but the motor home was ok as the ground was very dry.
We understand this site is very busy in Summer and booking is essential.
The site is in two parts both long & thin one bordered by the sea on one side & a road on the other with a facilities block. The other part has its own facilities block and is on the other side of the road. The road does give some noise at night but not excessive.
The shower block is clean and modern but has no heating and during the coldest Easter on record was uncomfortably cold to use.
A short walk along the beach or road takes you to Chanonry Point. Where you go with the hope of seeing the Moray Firth dolphins. We were unlucky.
A walk in the other direction takes you into Rosemarkie which has a pub, deli, Spar shop and deli café. The deli sells fresh meat, pies, cheese and lots of lovely food. The pub is small but has a restaurant and sells meals.
On the beach is the Rosemarkie Beach Café. We had a delicious bowl of home made soup and scones for lunch. The café is open 7 days a week from end March to end October and weekends November & December 10. 30am to 3. 30pm. Well worth a visit.
Fortrose is within walking distance and has a Co-op store, bakery and pub.
The selling point of this camp site are the fanatic views out over the Moray Firth and towards Fort George.

£24. 80 for a two man tent, per night! Yep, that’s per night! Two adults with two dogs.
Is this the most expensive camp site in GB, it certainly is the most expensive we have ever paid by far. Needless to say we only stayed one night. We arrived at about 4:30pm after being on the road all day & left by 9:30am the next morning.
For that did we get a nice warm welcome, no. My partner said we had come to see the dolphins for which the reply was, well yes everyone comes here to do that.
The ground. It took twice as long to pitch our tent due to it being very rocky an inch or so under the soil & I have heavy duty pegs with a 3lb club hammer!
The facilities. Rather cramped & dated. Generally clean but not the best we have been to, about average really. The shower unit itself looks new but even on high power & full heat it was only really just past lukewarm in both gents and ladies. The mirrors in the gents for shaving, in both cubicles, are level with the sink due to the window so not much use for shaving or anything really.
A public road cuts the site in half. Half the site, 1 field & 1 facility block, which we did not go in, is next to residential housing. The other half of the site, over the road as it were, is where we stayed & that is just a long field as well so there really is nothing else here other than it is next the beach.
I know we have been critical of this site but for the very high price they charged I would expect at least a warm welcome with award winning grass, the best facilities I’ve ever seen & even a free swimming pool or something. It is just a basic site with average facilities and a public road running through the middle of it!

First time at this site. Wardens were very helpful as when we booked there was only a Jumbo pitch available and we have only a small motorhome. However on arrival we were given a discount due to our small van but still allocated the Jumbo pitch.
The site, as mentioned many times before, is right next to the beach with superb views across the Moray Firth to Fort George and beyond.
Facilities are good, although probably need updating.
Pitch was level and firm, with electric hook up and we can really have no complaints.
Our dogs, although quite old, still enjoyed the local walks.
The Deli in Rosemarkie itself is superb as is the chocolate shop in nearby Fortrose. The beach side cafe provides reasonable quality at an acceptable price. Overall, a very good site to which we will return.

Arrived here in 27ft vehicle which seemed to cause a stir.
Wanted to move us away from reception quickly and in process although we paid we didn't get the necessary codes for use of showers etc.
Site was nice though but what made it special was the beach and walking out to see the dolphins at Chanonry Point.
Very pricey and considering we didn't get access to the facilities was disappointed.
Yes, of course we should have gone and asked, but we had everything on board anyway.
Mind you, would have been nice to get a shower in the morning.

Have just returned from an amazing fortnight on this site. Weather wasn't brilliant but better than elsewhere in country
saw dolphins most days either by going along to chanory point about a mile along the beach or through binoculars from our tent. Amazing! also had a visiting seal right opposite the tent most mornings. Brill.
Site centrally located so were able to drive to Isle of Skye and Orkney, long days but well worth it.
Comforts deli in Rosemarkie is well recommended, the butcher couldn't be more helpful and is now also open 10-2 on a sunday, crofters bistro on the seafront is also a must visit, excellent service, large portions and well price.
Facilities on site a bit tired but always clean, good shower, and the view made up for it. Definitely recommend.

Stayed here on the May holiday weekend. Great location with an uninterrupted view out to sea from the caravan, just feet from the beach. The beach itself is quite stoney with small patches of sand but kept a 5 year old amused despite the erratic unseasonally cold May weather (sunny one minute - hailstones the next!).
Toilets were clean although a heater would have been nice in this weather. Site was well kept and wardens friendly & helpful. Our car wouldn't start when leaving but crisis averted by using the caravan battery and jump leads borrowed from the warden.
Rosemarkie is just a short walk and has a lovely community run cafe on the beach with a play park and good sandy beach. Another short walk in the opposite direction takes you to Chanonry Point where you can see the dolphins, aim for 2 hours after low tide and you are almost guaranteed to see them.
We wanted to re-book for the jubilee weekend but unfortunately there was no room.

Lovely site although it can be a bit windy as it is coastal. Friendly helpful staff, toilet and showers very clean.Limited hook up points.Good walks nice safe beach very clean dog walking area.
Only drawbacks no children's play area although beach very close to caravans and there is a small play park outside the beach cafe approx 5-10mins walk along the beach front. Chance to see dolphins and occasional otter. There is a road that runs between the two camping area's that could be a hazard for small children, but all in all very nicely run site.
Little expensive for the size of the site. Nice site for dogs.We would definitely return.

This site is in an idyllic location right by the sea - we didn't manage to get a pitch in the front line closest to the beach, but because the pitches are staggered we still had a lovely sea view. We had electric hook up, and for a small site the motor home service point was of a very good standard, and access was easy. The site is immaculate, the staff are really friendly and helpful and the site seems well drained as although we were on grass and there had been rain the pitch was good and firm. The site wasn't full when we were there so there was no competition for the shower, I can imagine it would be busy at peak times. The shower had really good water pressure and adjustable temperature and the facilities were perfectly clean.
A local road cuts the site in two so care has to be taken when crossing to get to the beach, but we had no noise problems - the boy racers previously mentioned in another review obviously stayed at home for the two night we were at this site!
I would happily stay at this site again and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed the beach - what luxury to have a beach literally one minute's walk from our pitch!
