We got a brilliant corner pitch as we got there for 12 noon. However i've said before on CC sites, I think its bad management that you can't book a specific pitch and together so you can be next to friends or family. Play area not great but we took our kids bikes and they were more than happy. Bristro ok, nothing special and not cheap as its only pub type bar food. Drinks are expensive. Shower block excellent, clean, dry and lovely hot showers although only 4 in the ladies. Would go again as its central to lots of places to visit. All in all, it needs some more play equip and the wardens needs to chill out a bit or retire.

Grand Site, with the usual high standard of service and services. The wardens and their assistants, were excellent in all they provided.
The site had a small restraunt which opened a few nights a week, the menu was varied and the food good, but a little expensive.
We will certainly return next year

Lovely site with good facilities situated halfway between Ripley and Knaresborough. The site has approx. 65 pitches about two thirds hardstanding with the remainder on grass. Pitches are mainly regimented with a few areas where you can tuck yourselves away if you prefer a little more privacy. The large toilet block is modern and clean being within easy access of all the pitches. My only criticism would be a lack of facilities for children and an overall feeling of the kids not really being welcome. The play area is a joke with just one climbing frame even though there is plenty of room for other equipment.
So to summarise I would say if your a couple looking for a nice, quiet site with good facilities this one would be hard to beat. Just leave the kids at home!

What an absolutely gorgeous site! The toilet block was very clean, and the showers had great temperatures on. Stayed on for as long as you wanted, and the temperature was very easily adjusted. Very clean as people mopped out their shower cubicles A LOT in consideration to others. There were separate cubicles with sinks in also! very clean, and well hidden. One small problem, the playground wasnt very good. One tiny little slide, and a few bars. Not very good, but was good for me, to sit and talk. Knaresborough was very nice to look around, and a local attraction would be Mother Shipton's Cave! Also went to Bolton Abbey, great walk and took a picnic! York only an hours drive away, and the dog walk was very good! Went for miles & miles. Also, there was some lovely places to walk nearby. Lovely site! Will definitely go back again.

Spent 3 nights here. To be honest I thought this site was a bit to regimented in the sense that the pitches are all in orderly rows which reminded me of suburban streets rather than a country camp site. We chose to pitch on the grassed area which we liked much better, probably because it was quieter as there were no tents. Never seen so many rabbits in my life! No dog walk on site and the public pathway you can use can be muddy and there is no where to let dog off lead. Male warden very helpful but female warden greeted me with a long whinge about how hard it is for two people to run the site and how members never read notices. If grassed pitches weren't available we wouldn't stay here again. Oh, and if coming North from A! you have to drive thriugh Knaresborough itself and up a fairly narrow busy road to the site.

We stayed here for the bank holiday weekend and were very happy with the site. The facilities were spot on, the play area was a little lacking, but there was space to kick a ball around away from vans. Our children spent hours scootering around the site! We felt we didn't need the car once there, we walked into Knaresborough along the river banks and it was an easy enough walk even with a 5 year old. The onsite 'pub' did food which was nice and reasonable, £30 for a family of four with drinks. Lots in the area to visit, the pool in Knaresborough is great too if the weather isn't up to much.

Great site! The shower block was as warm as toast even though it was freezing outside! Facilities were spotless and the pitches were very large.
The Guy Fawkes Arms in the village, is a short walk away and is fantastic if you have a dog. There is a room with leather chesterfield sofas that are for the dogs to sit on and our dog dined on beef and turkey every nigh.
The site has excellent walks nearby and it is a pleasant walk to Knaresborough, part of the walk is along the river. If you don't want to walk there is a bus service into Knaresborough.
Highly recommended!

This is a lovely little site, with all the usual high standard you can expect from a Caravan Club site, and more.
The pitches are massive with ample space for van, awning & car, and they are all hard-standing, so you have to use rock pegs for your awning.
The toilet block was immaculate, with loads of loos, 4 showers (very hot and powerful), and around 5 or 6 seperate wash cubicles. There is a baby & toddler bathroom, which you can only access with a key, and it was great for the little ones. There is a toilet, bath with an overhead shower, and all the usual nappy changing stuff. It was kept at a constant warm temperature, and was always very clean.
The on-site bistro was ok. The food was lovely, but it was a bit pricey, and the service was quite slow. Not great when you have 2 impatient toddlers in tow!
The play area did leave a lot to be desired. It is tucked away in the far top corner of the site, miles away from the pitches, and has nothing but a slide to keep the littlies amused. My 2 got bored after 5 minutes.
There is a lovely little dog walk, which is accessed through a locked gate, and runs rould the outside of the site.
All-in-all, a great little site, but probably more suited to couples rather than families

Fabulous site.
The toilet block was immaculate, clean, tidy and warm. They had several toilets and as many showers with lots of private washbasins which I like the idea of. There were hairdryers to use if you didn't want wet hair in the wind. The floor was perfectly clean and there was a special mop to clean up after you had used the shower.
The playground was ok but it would have been better, had it been a little closer to the caravans. As it is, it is on the big camping field up a long road from all the caravans. The site has a pub on site but we didn't use it as you have to book quite early to get a table. Also the playground would have been nicer had it more equipment as its not very child - friendly.
The pitches were fabulous. There were generously sized pitches with hedges sectioning them off having your own private pitch. They are all hardstandings so you will need to buy rock pegs but its much nicer than the soggy grass.
The surrounding area was ok. Knaresboroughs about a 10 minute drive away which we went into on our first day. It has lots of shops and a childrens paddling pool. Also Harrogate is not so far away to do lots of clothes shopping. Bolton Abbey is about an 1/2 hour drive away but it has tremendously long walks and a river to sit and have a picnic beside.
All in all, a great site, would definitely go back.
