Booked on to this site at the last moment on a very rainy day and wasn't sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the tent field is very spacious and they only accept five tents so you have plenty of room. The facilities were excellent, the toilet block was absolutely spotless with plenty of wash cubicles and showers and the hairdryers are free to use. The site is very quiet apart from a little road noise. There is a little bar/bistro and they had finished serving food when we had finished pitching our tent on a horrendous night but they cooked two dinners for us specially and we were very grateful. It's a lovely short walk into the village to visit the local pub, the Guy Fawkes Inn and if you have a dog they seem to be very welcome. All in all a lovely clean site that I would highly recommend.

Just back from 6 nights here. On the caravan club site book it said this site was "family friendly" unfortunately didnt find this was the case while there. The play area is well out of the way and obviously where most of elderly couples there wanted them to be and only consisted of one small chute! Not the usual chit chat either but again probably because we had kids. Site is lovely though and town nice too though again not much for the youngsters to do there either. Perfect though if you want a nice peaceful break but we will keep this site child free in future.

Still a great site - location and cleanliness the main features. We have regularly visited this site for years now (since we started caravanning) one of the main attractions was the on-site club house - which offered good home made food and a limited range of drinks at reasonable prices. This in my opinion is no longer true, it offers a selection of mainly frozen / fried or reheated food and expensive food. The Guy Fawkes Arms in the village (about 10-15 minutes) walk does great food a wide selection of drinks and is dog / child friendly. We'll still be using the site as we love the area and also find it useful as a stopover (just off the A1) when heading South.

It was raining when we left Sheffield and the forecast for the weekend wasn't good, however when we arrived the sun was shining and what a nice site this is, very clean and tidy. The showers are of the highest quality spotless and very warm. There is a small bar on the site that serves food, even though we didn't eat there it was nice to go and have a drink while we waited for our taxi. Knaresborough is a taxi ride away £5.00 for the privilege but well worth it for a fantastic night out. Plenty of pubs all within a few yards of each other in the town square. Mother Shiptons cave is close to the site, but on this occasion we didn't visit it. We did get some rain but, this didn't spoil our weekend - would we go back? You bet.

Lovely site. Toilets were really clean. We were there at the time of all the floods in Yorkshire. The caravan opposite woke up in the morning to find they were sitting in a HUGE puddle of water. The wardens couldnt have been more helpful and towed them out with their tractor. By evening the water had disappeared and everything went back to normal. The wardens never stopped all day and were constantly checking the site. If we are down there again we will booking into this site again.

As all the other reviewers have already said this is a fantastic site. The pitches are mostly on hardstanding with plenty of room for the awning, car and caravan, we managed to get the rock pegs in ok though so no problem. The toilet block is probably one of the best I've been in, clean warm and plenty of room in the showers to hang your towel, clothes, a stool to sit on to dry your feet before slipping your shoes back on. There are about a dozen loos, four or five showers and the same amount of cubicles with wash basins in. A clean mop bucket was available everyday which everyone used to clean their cubicle after use. The showers didn't turn off after a minute or two like many others I've used which is annoying to the fullest when you're stood there with your hair full of shampoo! The water pressure was good and the temperature was easily adjustable, they stayed at the temperature set for the duration. Full marks wardens.
Unusually for a caravan club site there is a licenced bar, serving food. We had a drink there both nights of our stay before heading off into Knaresborough. It was friendly and relaxed, there's even a little sitting room area with a T.V, very cosy. We ordered a taxi to get into the town, cost a fiver and the driver turned up bang on time. Talking of the town, there are at least 8/9 pubs in the market square, some quiet and some more lively, its a really good night out. We picked up a chinese takeaway from the Ming Fai on the main street one night, I recommend the food it was lovely. There is no taxi rank for your return journey to the site which isnt really in walking distance. Providing you prepare in advance by having one of the taxi numbers in your mobile and you order it about 30 mins before you want to go home you shouldn't have a problem.
Car parking in the town is reasonable too, we only paid a £1 to park all day at the side of the castle ruins, we had to wait a few minutes for a space though it was full when we pulled in. You can park in the two hour limited spaces on the main street for free, you just need to pick up a disc from one of the shops on the street which you display in your car indicating what time you parked up.
The view over the river Nidd by the castle ruins is very nice and a lady was stood there with a couple of tethered ravens, didn't realise how big those things were.
We had a trip into Harrogate which is about 5 miles away, lots of shops and and some grand buildings. The weather looked a bit threatening, black clouds were gathering so didnt stop long enough to have a good explore but will go back on another trip and maybe spend a day there. Wetherby race course is only a short drive away if you fancy the races.
All in all a brilliant site, a great weekend and only an hour away from where we live, we will be back if these reviews don't result in the site being permentantly booked up.

Just returned having spent the Easter weekend there. A first class site with possibly the largest spaced pitches we've come across. Toilet / shower block - immaculate and warm. You have a large Morrisons a short drive away which is always handy. Having a beautiful town nearby is also a bonus. The roadside walk (1.5m) into town though is a bit too close to the busy road, there is a longer riverside/woodland walk. We tried Carriages for 'Tapas' - OK but nothing you couldn't knock up at home. 'Blind Jacks' was the best bar especially if you like real ale - a great pint! We didn't have them but I can imagine that having our bikes there would be a good idea. We'll be back.

Fantastic, simply fantastic. Everything (v.nearly anyway) you want from a campsite! Spotlessly clean and large facilities. Professional welcome. A huge field at the back of the site for the tents. And great access to the wonderful Yorkshire Dales, which has to be the most incredible & diverse county in the country to visit. It is a bit expensive and they could do with stocking some basics in the reception, but go for it. A great site!

Stayed for 4 nights over the Christmas market weekend in Knaresborough town. You couldn't wish for more friendly people to welcome you and the toilet/shower block looked brand new. On site there is also a small cafe that is licenced if you want a meal and a drink, we didn't use it but it looked very nice. On arrival you are offered a key to gain access to the bridal path if you have a dog. We didn't take ours but we had a 'nosey' and it looked very nice. As it turned out we couldn't park in the town for the Xmas market, (too busy) so we headed off and found Ripley village with Ripley castle. A fantastic day out for me and the kids and we really enjoyed looking round the house and sitting in the gardens and watching the squirrels. There is lots to do round here, Mother Shiptons cave is very close and well worth a visit. An excellent site and we will most defiantly be back.

Visited the site in September 2006. First time on a Caravan Club site, very impressed indeed. From the friendliness and professionalism of the Wardens, to the spotlessly clean facilities and on site bar and cafeteria. Beautiful site, lovely location, a real 'home from home' This is site is a credit to the Caravan Club and it's staff. The standards were exceptionally high. The whole holiday was a dream, from the ease of on line booking to the easy -going attitude of the staff. It's hard to do justice, to how good this site is. I thought that my visit was excellent value for money.Truly, very sad to leave the place. There are a few facilities for children and just outside, an excellent dog walk. The wife enjoyed it immensely! The dog quite liked it too! I loved the location and would definitely go back again.I think the majority of visitors would agree. There is plenty to do and visit in the locality, if you are so inclined. If you like to stay put, there are large pitches, event though the site was nearly full when I visited, everything was orderly and peaceful on site at all times. I am so impressed with this site, that it deserves a grade 'A' review.
