Stayed here again used as a stop over both fro travelling down to and from Bois Soleil.

The site is very immaculate.

Very clean and has everything catered for.

This site was taken over by the present owners about 4 years ago and they have certainly tried hard to make it an ideal camping place.

There is a lot to do here. There is an outdoor gym, various beautiful garden and water garden areas.

There is a veg plantation and animal farm, they have table tennis, tennis and bouncy castle, of course the pool which is fab, sauna, the list goes on.

I am certainly considering taking my kids camping there from the UK next year, it is worth it, there is a lot to do in the area, of course there is Mont St Michel.

I do a trip in June with the van, without my kids, but I think this is doable for a week on a fast ferry, and would be a great camping experience. Camping cheques here start again around aug 21st so easily in the school hols.

The showers are all cleaned twice a day and are very good.

A lot of UK sites could learn a lot from sites like this, especially at £14 a night camping cheques!

We visited Haliotis at the end of October & were very favourably impressed by the site which was well-cared for, clean & tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. We had booked in advance & although a very large pitch had been reserved for us, we were told that we could choose another if we wanted to, and that we could have a service pitch if we preferred. We opted for this, and although we were paying with Camping Cheques, there was no extra charge.

All of the pitches were of good size & with clearly defined hedge boundaries between plots. The Wi-Fi signal was really strong & available at no extra cost - we just asked at reception when we booked in.

The toilets & showers were of a good standard and clean. The shower block was also heated. The adjoining toilets had outside access, and therefore no heating. A feature of the sanitary block was local news & music being piped throughout the building.

We did not use the laundry facility, bar, breakfast service, cycle hire, or children's facilities, but they were available. The swimming pool was a good feature, but closed at this time of the year.

There is direct access to a footpath/cycle track beside the river (fishing available).

The little town of Pontorson is a delight, has a small market one day a week, and there is also a large supermarket & filling station.

Haliotis is well signposted, has easy access, is only an hour from St Malo, and there is plenty to do in the area.

We will definitely return & have already recommended this site to friends.

Had the last 2 nights of our holiday here and was impressed with the site. We had one of the pitches with a private bathroom and it was lovely. Pitch was huge and near to children's play area.

We thought the staff were very friendly and helpful - English widely spoken. We can't comment on the small bar, or pool, as we didn't use either but both looked good.

There is a small animal area on site which appeared well kept - alomg with the rest of the site.

The shops, bars etc at Pontsoran are a short walk from the site as well as a large Carrefour supermarket. Mont St Michel is 9 km alomg the river path and nice and flat ride by bike.

I would have no hesitation in using this site again - they also take Camping cheques.

We visited here for our summer holidays and had chosen the site partly because of reviews on this site and it didn't disappoint.

The site was easy to find and well sign posted in Pontorson itself. The site was as described on the website.

We were fortunate to have booked one of the pitches with private sanitary facilities and there were no problems with our booking. The reception staff spoke excellent english and were very helpful (even prior to arrival with various queries via email, which had quick and understandable responses)

Our pitch was large and the private shower facility was a great bonus, with a toilet, vanity unit and shower, a heated towel rail was also in the facility which was a bonus due to the mostly bad weather we experienced! There was also an outside pot washing sink which was shared with the pitch behind, plenty of hot water at all times.

The facilities were great, there was a kids club every morning in a marquee, which my boys at 9 and 8 didn't enjoy because 'they just make stuff!', the playground, badminton net, table tennis, tennis, basketball and football pitch were all free with balls and rackets available to use for free from reception.

The pool was lovely looks smaller than the pictures and was a little cool at times, but did warm up over the week we were there, the bar was nice and the morning croissants that were delivered to the bar were great and we are missng those now we are home.

No problems with WiFi connectivity, we were given a password on request and pretty much had good access whenever we wanted it.

A lovely friendly site which I would recommend

First family Europe trip - Mum, Dad and 3 children (3,5 and 6). Used this site as a 3 night stop over on the way to Northern Brittany from Calais. Friendly welcome. Good sized pitch. Facilities clean and cleaned regularly but could do with a proper indoor laundry area. Currently, part covered but open on one side. Toilets are what we think as English - uprights with seats. Showers hot. Rained heavily during our stay and pitch did become soggy but drained quickly after rained stopped. Some pitches did get flooded.

Pool is not particularly warm but it is open air and dependent on weather. Also there was a bouncy castle, playground and mini farm. We did not use the Kids Club. It is a good location due to being near the main road from Calais but it can mean you can hear some road noise.

Pontorson has a great supermarket, Carrefour, for all your food needs and walkable. You can order bread and croissants at reception but preferred the supermarket. Bar Brazza does great pizzas but we did get ripped off by being charged 6 Euros for 3 milk lollies which were meant to be ice creams. First night - too tired to complain. There is also a MacDonalds on the outskirts but can get busy. There is Alligator Bay on the road to Mont Saint Michel which is great for the children on rainy days. We did not visit Mont Saint Michel as it required a walk in. If do want to visit you need to plan due tides and also where you walk from. Also it can be incredibly busy.

Spent another fantastic 2 weeks at Haliotis and look forward returning next year. This site is great for the children as there are plenty of activities to keep the occupied as well as the swimming pool. The reception service was first class even though there are now new people running the complex. The showers & toilets were cleaned at least twice a day but maybe some fresh smelling cleaning fluids could have been used in the toilets. The only major change from other years was that the children's play area next to the washing up facilities has been down-sized & has very little activities. The town of pontorson is pleasant little walk along the river & le mont st michel can be accessed by road or along the river banks (only 9km away).Further afield there are beautiful places to visit such as st malo, dinard, dinan, granville & cancale & there are numerous markets. I would highly recommend this site if you are wanting to stay in this area of Normandy

Having used this site several times before, we were very disappointed when we returned this year and left much sooner that planned. The site has been taken over by new owners who don't seem to care as much as the previous owners. The staff were polite and friendly, though.

Despite booking pitch No 5 several weeks ahead, we arrived only to be told we were double booked. Later, I discovered that several other customers had the same problem.

The 'heated' pool was cold.

The sauna was out of order.

There was no wi-fi connectivity.

The bar closed at about 9.00 PM, not 10.00 PM as stated. (It previously closed when the last customer left)

When we lost our electricity supply, it took over an hour for someone to restore it.

The site is still kept clean and tidy, and the sanitary block is 1st class, being cleaned regularly.

The town of Pontorson is very nice, with plenty of shops and restaurants. There are nice walks along the river bank, and Mont St Michel is only 9 Km away - easily reached by bicycle along the river bank.

This is a smashing little site. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The site is situated very close to the town of Pontorson, which is a smart little place with Bakers, Patiseries, Bars, Cafes and Creperies. There are also a couple of supermarkets withing walking distance, and a smashing little market which is on every Wednesday Morning.

The site is flat, well drained and most pitches have elecric hook-ups. Some also have individual water supply and Black water waste. Most, if not all pitches are surrounded by hedges, and the first pitch we stayed on was enormous.

We stopped here for five nights befor moving on to the terrible Siblu Site at Domaine de Kerlann (Least said about that site the better) and was so impressed that we persuaded my sister to pack up her caravan and spend her second week at Haliotis instead. (at the time of writing this, they are still there, and having a smashing time).

When we go back there again - and we definitely will - we want to pay the extra 4 euros a night for the pitches with the personal facilities. We had a sneaky peak whilst we were there, and they looked smashing, with personal Shower, wash-hand basin and toilet in a little building adjoining your pitch.

They have a smashing little outside pool, and a very comfortable bar which overlooks the pool. There is plenty for the kids to do on site, with playgrounds, sand pits, bouncy castle, trampolines, tennis, table tennis etc as well as a little area with animals. We hardly saw our 12 year old all day, and it sounded weird to hear him say to his mates;

'see you in the Bar after lunch!'

Haliotis is one of the Kawan Village Sites, and so far we have been very impressed with this company which we discovered purely by chance.

If you are touring or camping in France/Europe, look this company up on the website, it was a doddle to book via the web, and they were extremely efficient in all three instances which we used them this year.

Just got back from an 8 night stay at this site on the sites recommendation. Had a fab time. To keep it short and sweet -

Owners very helpful, speak english, friendly. Immediately removed noisy campers when we copmplained, was very impressed.

Pool lovely, a little cold but appreciated in the hot weather we have just had.

Bar - great, shame they didn't serve food.

Supermarket close by tended to get our bread and breakfast bits from there rather than site as slightly cheaper and just as nice.

Local town was a stroll away, ate out once, had a good experience in a resturant with two young boys.

Pitches great size, some huge. ASked if you could pre book a pitch, sadly not! Only a couple of smaller pitches but even then not too small.

Parks, mimi farm and bouncy castle loved by my too young boys.

Most sites had electric hook ups. Reverse polarity was a problem according to our equipment but owners said it was not an issue, we didn't worry about it and had no problem using cool box, hair dryer and dvd player on it.

Some pitches had their own shared (between about 4 other pitches) wash room, showers etc these were also good locations.

Toilet block never too busy, showers could have been warmer at times but generally clean and tidy. No soap in toilet area though! Take a dry hand wash!

Take away van arrived on site on set dates, didn't try this but lots of others did. Sold whole chickens, burgers etc at reasonable prices.

Travelled there from St Malo, only took us 40 minutes, went home from caen which was about 1 half hours drive away.

All in all a good site, may be returning next year.

This was our first time camping in France and we were delighted with this site.

Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent facilities with loads of free activities for the children and adults such as archery and golf driving range. There is also tennis courts, trampoline, bouncy castle and farm animals. Although there were all these activities it did not make the site noisy and we found it very quiet and peaceful at night.

The pool was very clean at all times (and never too cold), the toilet and showers were well maintained and clean with free hot showers.

Good washing up facilities and communal barbecue areas and there was a good take away on site at weekends who did excellent roast chicken and garlic, herb potatoes.

Pontorson itself has not got a lot going on but there are a couple of restaraunts and bars and the usual carrefour that is useful, however it is an ideal base for exploring Normandy and Brittany.

Have already recommended this site to friends and hope to return ourselves.
