This was our first time ever in our caravan and our very first site. Thanks to the great British weather they was a bit of mud about and wellies were needed. The previous occupiers had churned up a fair bit but fresh gravel on our pitch helped to put our van there with ease. The top end of the farm holds about 7/8 vans and the Field had wild campers and heaps of room for tents for the summer. There was a tree swing and they are just in the procedure of putting in swings. They have lots of different hens and one of the neighbours has a cockerel, no need for a early call with that little chappie lol. They have four dogs outside in kennels and some rabbits and Guinea pigs too. Adult supervision is needed to look at the pets. Actually adult supervision is require at all times but we only read the rules when we were driving home (sorry) we did let our 10 year old just run round and round the grass and play football in the far empty field.
The shower block is adjacent to the house and is 50p to use and apparently very nice my daughter and husband said. The toilets were not my cup of tea but I am a city girl and as its my first time I can not say good or bad. They were clean and had toilet roll etc. Sam and Jonathan who run the farm are very friendly and very helpful. I really enjoyed my two nights here and may return one day but for now there is lots more to visit first.
There is a Morrison's 5 minutes car 15 mins walking down the road and a kids park too. Spen house is also in nice walking distance to a pub. There is also a spar in town 10mins by car should you forget anything and Morrison's is shut i.E Sunday after 4. Hope we helped x

Fantastic little site!
Took the motorhome, arrived when it was solid frost on the ground but departed when the frost had thawed and the ground was horrible and wet, no problems though managed to get onto the hard ground before we made too much mess (huge apologies to the owners).
Shower in house but great, nice and warm. Honesty box just outside shower which allowed us to pay for the showers before we left as we kept forgetting to take the 50p’s to the shower with us!
Loos in a portacabin but were clean and always had loo roll.
Owners couldn’t be more welcoming, helped more so because we have border collies so we had plenty to talk about as the owners have border collies on the farm. After our long walks the owners let us use their hose pipe to clean the dogs down before they got back in the van which was very much appreciated as there is nothing worse than sharing your space with 3 mucky dogs so we really appreciated that.
Dog walk is fantastic, its huge!
Hens roaming gave us quite a bit of entertainment, they are cheeky little things and I think if our dogs hadn’t of been around the hens would have been in the motorhome with us.
Pub down the road a bit odd never the less we enjoyed our tea there.
All in all a cracking little site which I think will improve as the owners were planning changes so hopefully next time we return it will be even better!

We stayed numerous times over the year. We found it very relaxing and always got a warm welcome. Nothing is too much bother. Samantha and family are very friendly.
There was only one shower in the main house but plans are in place to alter the toilet block to facilitate more showers.
Hook ups are available and hard standing.camping is available in abundance.
The pub in the village does a mean steak.

Fantastic site not too far from home, the free range chickens are fantastic to watch even our Greyhound wasn't interested in them and let them eat out of his food dish. Owners fantastic happy and smiley (always a good sign even on a rainy day :o). There are lots of loo's and a shower next to the main house 50p in the honesty dish and you can have as much hot water, for as long as you like - bargain. Fantastic dog run, it's massive. There is a pet petting area where kids can feed the rabbits and guinea pigs. A fantastic site in which we will be returning a.s.a.p.

Stayed 4 nights onsite on a hardstanding pitch with EHU, a basic site with basic clean facilities. 1 Shower with plenty of hot water in an annex to the main house,50p on an honesty box system so no need to think of time and plenty of toilets in a portakabin type building. Very friendly owners who are prepared to help if you need it, even put the van onsite. Plenty of water points and bins about the site. No real play area for children but a rope swing from a tree in the middle of the site.
The site drained quickly but best of all was the area for dogs, HUGE and dogs can be off lead when in this area an excellent site for dog owners.
Beware of the access as it's between two houses so you need to be pretty good with the van to manoeuvre but again the owners are on hand to 'drive' through.
Convenient to the north Yorkshire area and an excellent pub either within walking distance or one a little drive out serving fabulous food.
All in all 10/10

We have just returned from 5 days at Spen House campsite. In 7 years of caravanning this has been without a doubt the most friendly and helpful site that we have stayed at.
Although the facilities are basic they were always very clean.
The site is also very dog friendly with an excellent field that they can run free in.
I will recommend this site to everyone and if we return to that part of Yorkshire will definitely stay there.

Stayed Friday+Saturday night in a tent (room for caravans too though, inc hookup). Spacious site with handy water and recycling points. Neighbouring kids enjoyed the monkey swing in the tree :) The loos and shower (50p) were very clean, fantastic water pressure too. The owners couldn't have been friendlier or more informative of local amenities. (butchers by PO in Boroughbridge is open til 4pm on a Saturday-useful for BBQs, which are allowed on site, blocks for disposable BBQs provided) Noisy campers were politely asked to turn their music off- the site is definitely aiming at a friendly + relaxing for all environment. Can't finish without mentioning the chickens- adorable and very tasty eggs. We'll definitely be heading back!

We had a great weekend at spenhouse, very friendly and helpful staff, toilets and shower are very clean, the chickens kept us entertained wandering up and down the site we we amazed at the variety, hence plenty of fresh eggs. The kids enjoyed it thoroughly. We will be going back.
