Stayed here over Easter. The toilet block is clean and tidy but there was only cold water at the sinks. The fishermen use this toilet block to clean their boots etc even though there is another toilet block for their use near to the cafe. We would recommend that the owner put locks on the campers toilet block and only gave keys to the people who were camping there and had paid for the facilities.

This camp site is not cheap - 15 GBP per night! It is not a CL site as it looks like some caravans have been pitched here for a long time. Caravanners beware. There is a large ramp which is not such a problem when entering the site but on leaving there is a risk of grounding the caravan.

We would recommend the breakfast at the cafe and the pub opposite had lovely beer and food.

On a spur of the moment weekend we just opted to go somewhere fairly close and found ourselves at Lakeside in Onehouse. On first arrival we thought we had the wrong place, as there were no other tents or vans on site, but as it turned out, we had arrived, and there were motorhomes set up opposite the lake behind the cafe.

The site is a large grassy flat open area next to a large lake, seeing as there was no-one else around we pitched up at a decent looking swim to the back left of the lake as you first see it.

There is a cafe on site which you can get hot food at and drinks etc. The children's play area could do with some investment, but again, our kids (4&6) made the best of it, but as it also seems to be a local park area for non campers, there were others children that came with their parents to the cafe and that kept them occupied and happy enough running round.

The toilet facilities are minimal one block at the end of the grass pitch and a second block behind the Cafe. Clean but minimal, oh and at night, we either couldn't find the light switch or there wasn't power / lighting sufficient enough in the grassy field block, so took the longer walk to the block behind the cafe.

I was fishing and there were maybe at most 2 others fishing, given it was a nice wekend and was the last weekend of September I thought there would have been more. There was little action to be had on the float, just a few small roach, nothing prolific. Boilie brought in a PB 15lb mirror, so I went home happy.

All in all.A nice quiet site (when we went) and decent fishing. Would I go back. For the fishing yes, at a quieter time of year.Yes, at a busy time.Probably not for me, but I'm not one for crowds in general. Cheap and cheerful though and did the job.

This was the only place in Suffolk to have any spaces left to camp over the late Summer Bank Holiday. I was quoted £10 per night over the phone but when I arrived I was only charged £8 per night for three nights which was an absolute bargain considering some places were charging about £30 a night.
This is predominantly a fishing venue and caravan park and there is a lovely fishing lake and a little river running around the edge of the site. We pitched our tent fairly near the road as we were advised by the owners that certain areas were due to have large groups and caravans. We had plenty of room as I was afraid we would be squashed in like sardines, nothing could have been further from the truth. My boyfriend was concerned that the road would be noisy but it was not a busy thoroughfare.
There are two toilet blocks each with only one toilet each for male and female, although the larger toilet block housing the showers had a urinal for men too. There was one electric shower each for men and women, the gents was lovely apparently although the ladies only stayed on for about 5 seconds a time and was alternately scalding hot or freezing cold, I did check with other female campers and they had the same experience. This would appear to be a fault and I will be contacting the site to alert them to this. There is also a sink for washing your dishes outside with luke warm/ cold water.
Considering that the camp site was very busy there were no long queues and everyone was very friendly and considerate. The site itself was lovely and lush, well trimmed and level. There were plenty of hook ups but we did not require this.
There was a cafe on site and they were always very friendly, I didn't use it personally but I saw people eating there and the food looked nice, it opened at 9.30am each day and was open for breakfast and lunch and well into the afternoon. The pub opposite was very nice and the menu looked very tempting with some good hearty sounding dishes, again we didn't eat here as I love cooking outside but it looked very nice and the staff were friendly.

Stowmarket itself was a let down as it is not a very culturally interesting town but you are only 10 miles away from Bury St Edmunds and the Abbey ruins, cathedral, museums and excellent shopping centre. We took a day trip to Aldeburgh (about a 60 minute drive going thescenic route!) as there was a very lovely beach, mainly pebbles but a strip of sand.
There's a Martello Tower which can be viewed by prior arrangement with the National Trust. The shopping centre here is a mix of interesting one off shops and chains such as Fat Face and Prezzo. There are two excellent chip shops here, apparently ranked among the best in the country. I queued at the longest and took about 30 minutes to get in and get my food and I wasn't disappointed although when I drove by at about 5pm there was no queue!

I would recommend The Lakeside Caravan park as it was well run and friendly and not over crowded nor vastly over priced. There are also some very nice public footpaths stretching out around the fields which are very nice to take a walk along. The caravan site is also animal friendly and there were people there with dogs. I highly recommend if you don't want to get ripped off by other sites or be packed in like tinned fish!

We stayed here for a weekend during the heatwave in May.

This is a really nice friendly site and quite reasonably priced.

The toilet and shower blocks are decent condition and clean.

There is a good private fishing lake £5 a day and pitches are close to this so not too far to lug your gear.

There is a small tea hut (but we didn't use it) and quite a good children's' playground. These are near the entrance to the site and pitches are a little way from them so your peace is not too disturbed.

There is a good pub opposite that does nice meals.

Stowmarket is about a mile away, a small market town with the Museum of East Anglian life.

We had a nice peaceful weekend and will definitely visit again.
