We have just returned from camping at this site for 4 nights as a family of 2adults & 3 kids. I wanted to say that this site was great the shower block for the campers was great it sits right between two area's that are used for camping one side for long stay and the other for short stay campers. It was modern, clean had 4 separate cubicles with a shower and hand basin in them, a separate disabled shower with toilet, toilet rooms which were always clean and a dish washing/food prep area & washing machine / tumble dryer ( token operated).
The pitch we had backed onto a burn that was fenced off so no worries about young children, all the long stay pitches are clearly defined with little log fence between them all. There is a road that passes right in front off the campsite but as the is an embankment between the road and site I can say that the burn made more noise than any car that came along.
The staff I found to be friendly and helpful in both the shop and reception.
The pool is great for a splash about and kept the kids entertained, here is a sitting area at the poolside if any parents don't want to go in but need to keep an eye on them, This area and the shower area could do with a update but all in was clean and functional.
There is a bar and games room these area's I never went to but eldest daughter and husband did they both said was good and I think were having t.V withdrawal symptoms so were happy to see a t.V. It also had wi-fi connection and an internet p.C for customer use at a charge.
St Andrews itself was beautiful, we had a wonderful time walking around town even late at night with kids.As with the other reviews there is a Morrisons on the road to it 5 mins by car.
We shall returning again.

This site is very nice the grass is kept neat, immaculate toilets & showers, pub drink is priced resonable, small swimming pool, games room & fishing pond. Shop at reception. The only comment I have is it would be handy if the pub sold toasties etc.
20minute walk to town centre, but Morrisons & Aldi is 10minute walk. The Rule Pub Diner is an excellent place to eat, cannot fault the food, drink is a little bit expensive.

As with many sites there are plus points & negative points depending on how pedantic you want to be. This site is, overall, reasonable. It is a clean, tidy, manicured site but is let down by the age & standard of touring vans it allows.
The touring area is flat, with hard standing and very large, fully serviced pitches separated by small fences.
There is an adequate sized indoor swimming pool which entertained my 3 kids. We didn't use the clubhouse so can't comment on it.
Although dogs are allowed on site, there aren't many easily accessible exercise areas. There is access to the river but dogs are not allowed and we witnessed a staff member harshly chastising a dog walker who dared to pass the 'No Dogs' sign!
We visited the other sites near to St Andrews and without doubt Craigtoun Meadows tops them all. Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome.

Absolutely first class in every way.20 minute walk to centre of St Andrews well worth it. Site itself is immaculate. Have not seen a cleaner toilet / shower block!
Staff very friendly. Welcome was great on 1st night and entertainment fine. 2nd night, entertainment again just right although 1 barman in particular was having a bad day I think which did not detract from our overall enjoyment.
Will definitely return this summer. By the way , 2 rainbows for 4.5lb. Cant be bad at £12 for a 4 hour session on the on site fishery.

Just back from long weekend, my very first time camping (ever). We wanted somewhere close to home in case we didn't like it, but must admit we picked the perfect site for our first time away. We have a trailer tent but didn't have the right pegs for hardstanding, one phone call to the warden who says we could get the right ones from the shop, sorted.
The site has everything you could possibly need with Morrisons a 2 minute drive away, we didn't use the bar or pool as we've two husky pups. I thought there was plenty play areas for young children and seen as cars are not driving through the park constantly, plenty of space to cycle.
The park itself is immaculate, toilet/shower room and wash up area are spotless would recommend this park to anyone and can't wait for our next free weekend so we can book up again.

Just returned from 5 nights had a great time lovely clean well run site.
Liked the fishing for rainbow trout on the small well stocked lochan at back of site.
The club house was open every night from 5-00 till
11-00 later at week-end and prices were very reasonable
Toilets/shower blocks very clean although the showers go of every 12 seconds which is very annoying.
Small swimming pool which was ideal for kids learning to swim.
St Andrews is lovely and only 5 minutes away also good regular bus service from site gate.
Overall would certainly return to this site.

Just returned from the May bank holiday weekend at Cairnsmill. This was our first ever camping trip with our 2 year old boy. It was an enjoyable trip, except for the cold weather.
Cairnsmill is a very well run site. Tents are pitched around a car parking area, each with large grassed area. It was busy with nearly every pitch taken.
It is not too far from a main road, so you can hear the traffic but it wasn't too bad, it didn't keep us awake. Showers & toilets very well maintained and loads of very hot water available.
Club House good (though a bit of a walk from the tent area), Kenny the Clown on the Saturday night was a huge hit with our toddler. Swimming pool looked good - and it's free!, although we didn't get a chance to use it. There are a couple of good children's play areas.
All in all a great first camping experience.

Had a quick look around this site for future reference.
Flat, well spaced pitches.
Great facilities, lounge, pool, laundry, etc.
Could do with more showers for the number of pitches.
Its quite near a busy main road, so not sure how noisy it might be at night
Very good location. Very close to Morrisons and other shops. Not too far to walk to central St Andrews.
Would definitely book in here next time.

Just back from a weekend here, after a few days of heavy rain it was hard to find a road to get to the site. Even still all the hard standing pitches were full apart from one. We are neubies to caravanning (bought caravan at beginning if June - before that it was tenting), but been here twice with the van and its good fun. We did park the van by driving over the grass between the hard standing (sorry to the warden as he does a good job). The weather was not brilliant (no rain but very windy and as we had a lightweight awning, we had to take it down, we did have the correct pegs for hard standing (drilled in), but the awning could not take the beating from the wind).
Other than that the site it's self is great, good club house (could do with food though, bingo on a Friday night, live music on the Saturday), pool is brilliant (and free), could do with a better play park for the older kids.
A little concerned over the tenting Park, noticed that they have reduced the tent size from 6 man last year to 4 man this year, why is this? (They should not go by the amount of people it can accommodate but the actual size of the tent), have noticed that they are building more and more log chalets (not rented but bought I think) next to the tent park, are they going to build them on the tent park and stop tenting, is this the reason for reducing the size of the tents - to put people off!

The site is well laid out, well maintained, clean and quiet. The facilities are really good, with an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor playground for the kids. There's also a play room and bar on site, as well as a small shop for your essentials.
A couple of areas of minor adjustments to make it even better would be much appreciated, as this was our second visit and won't be our last, is to improve the shower cubicles for the touring caravan area. The one for the tent area is excellent and if this design would be implemented in the tourers area it would improve the experience. At the toilet block nearer the office in the tourer area, your clothes get wet from the spray of the shower. Perhaps even installing a shower curtain would help in the interim. In the further away toilet block, next to the bunk house, these showers have a better lay-out, but the showers just dribble the water out. I hope the owners/management will look at this for the future.
Apart from the showers, I would recommend this site as suitable for couples or families.
