We have just returned from 3 nights on a touring super pitch at HC. Whatever has happened to this site? The toilets and showers were filthy - not the usual muddy footprints associated with this time of the year, but huge cob webs, engrained dirt and the smell! - not very inviting. I truly feel since we visited this site 2 years ago it has deteriorated quite badly.
No play area on the touring area for childen, and a 5 minute walk to the main complex. Food okay, but mostly fast food only.
I think Haven need to reinvest some of their huge customer takings into this site. Lovely surrounding area, well worth a visit but perhaps try a different site.

The site is easy to find being straight off the main road, however the campsite is further in and no noise can be heard at the campsite from the road. I found the pitches to be very small and not much help was given from the wardens to help find the allocated pitch. There is a narrow road between opposite pitches as well. The weather was very wet when we went and gravel where our awning should of gone was just flooded out therefore we were not ably to put the awning up.
Toilet/shower blocks were adequate and plenty of hot water available, floors tended to get quite muddy but obviously can't be helped.
The site had a restaurant where the food was passable and also had fish shop and burger king.
When entering the main block the noise hits you, noise from all the fruit and games machines that you can't get away from. The entertainment rooms were also packed out and you were never able to find a seat. In the end we went out to other various places due to the noise being quite unbearable.
A well positioned site for going to Alnwick castle, Bamburgh castle and the Holy Island. There is also a very good wine bar in berwick on tweed with gorgeous food.
Overall the location was excellent, however we would not return to this park but may suit young families who like the hussle and on the go lifestyle.

Only went because we got a good discount. Arrived at tea-time to find that there were wasps everywhere. Have stayed in Gold caravans at other haven sites, so was disappointed with the caravan we were given - it was shoddy. Music in entertainment complex was so loud it could loosen fillings, and this was before it was all in full swing for the evening. Will never visit this or any other haven site again.

This is a tricky review to write as I have been to a few Havens. When I first arrived, I wanted to leave. The serviced / super pitch (which has water and drainage) are old Static pitches which are close together.
Our pitch didnt have drainage - its not guaranteed. The water was of such high pressure that plugging in the Whale aquamaster mains system just caused a mini flood at the tap.
I could live without waste and water, but the pitches are just too close. We were right in the middle of Sun reader's £9.99 holiday club complete with all night rave music and 17 interbred kids throwing stones at each other.
Just as I was about to kill/complain/leave/cry I had a walk around the site and tucked away to the left of the Wardens office (I presume it is as he's never there) is a proper touring park, with lovely sweeping trees, grass and surrounding wood, and caravan concrete recatangular pitches with ltos of room between - lovely!
So I popped to reception and swapped. Just electric on these pitches but lovely peaceful atmosphere.
So first tip - dont buy a super pitch, ask for a normal mains only touring pitch to the left of the park.
The pitch was lovely, dead level with trees and birds all around, it was strange only being a few hundred yards from the Sun readers holidays club, but it may as well have been a top club site in the Lakes. I started to smile again.
There was 2 toilet blocks for everyone, doubt this would cope with weekend trade. Not in great condition although I only saw the toilets, dont use site showers now, I have a nice shower on my van and got tired of verrucas.
The toilets were pretty gross, in one toilet there was faeces on the wall - day after it was cleaned off but not between the grouting. Not nice. Its not the cleaner's fault scumbags act like that, but its not healthy to not clean that sort of mess up properly.
As for the park, well the weather was glorious so this helps. There is the usual Haven stuff but extras such as Horse riding, which is £10 for a walk around the park led by the handlers or about £30 for a beach walk. My 3 yr old girl just went for a walk for £10 and liked it. There are lots of different size ponies and hores for anyone.
For about £40 you can hae the full experience which cleaning out and looking after the horses.
This site is nice in the respect of how it is layed out, it is a lot more country-like than Thorpe Pary or Primrose Valley.
The location geographically is great, not far from Edinburgh and near lots of Castles. The scenery around is just the business, typically Scotland (well its nearly in Scotland) and just stunning.
Getting there is easy, just stay on the A1 and you'll get there. Between Newcastle and Edinburgh.
To summarise, this CAN be a lovely site if you are touring and get the right area, if you are going for a static then good luck.

Nice Site, plenty to do for the children, and lots in the surrounding area if you want to venture further afield although we didnt on this occasion.
We stayed on a serviced pitch which was fine, however we were right beside a static caravan full of young people (20's) who were up the first night partying until 3am, this started on the second night at 1am and security had to be called as we had had enough by 3am! Security arrived quickly and they were warned that they would be removed from the site (after lots of bad language and noise and one person had assaulted another)The following evening security arrived at their caravan at 6pm and warned them that any repeat and they would be asked to leave fortunately there was no repeat so we managed to get a good nights sleep and our daughter didnt wake up repeating the language that she had heard the previous night!
Shower and toilet blocks not ideal were ok but a little dirty certainly not up to caravan club level, also found a lot of youths congregated around this area day and night.
All in All site good plenty to do would return as the price was good.

We will never go back to this site again. Touring reception closed so we were sent to main reception, this was also closed (no fun pass for 1st night because this)We called the number given and were told to find a vacant pitch. Pitches all water logged. No space between tourers for any privacy. All toilet seats in block broken off. Showers filthy, indoor swimming pool freezing, rowdy campers at 2am most night. No-one seemed to care and all this for £28 per night. Disgusting!

Just returned from Haggerston for the first weekend of the touring season. We enjoy this Haven site and go quite regulary. The toilets and showers are ok, they do get dirty BUT what do you expect rain + mud + kids = dirt. Plenty do do on site never a dull moment. Kids clubs, swimming, bike hire, peddle boats, golf, quads, bouncy castle and horse riding. You`ve got plenty of places to visit off the park too(by car). You can go to any site in the country and you wont find better entertainment anywhere than on a Haven site. The only downfall is they want you to, yes you`ve guest it SPEND,SPEND,SPEND.

First -and last- time at this site. We did get a good deal £22 for three nights, but £3 a night extra for the dog was a bit extreme. The pitch itself was spot on flat. Hard standing with enough room for an awning. The big problem was the state of the toilet/shower block. It was filthy! It was cleaned once a day at around 10 o'clock and then left. Try to imagine what it was like the following morning!
The surrounding area is fantastic and we will head that way again but we won't be stopping at Haggerston

We got a cheap deal here so decided to stay in a static for a change to the tourer. The caravan was not what we would call gold standard but it was cheap. The site was lovely very scenic and lots of historical things to do in the local area. We are going to visit again with our tourer as the touring site looked lovely and well laid out and we had a peek in the toilets which looked very clean, but it was last week of season. Entertainment was usual Haven stuff great for the kids, the pool was quite dirty and only had two showers which were in full view of the pool and extremely dirty. Very nice camp overall and would recommend.

Arrived at this site on 18 may 2007 (Friday) found the site and directions into touring reception very well signposted. The pitch I booked was a super pitch which included water, electric but no drainage. The toilets which there is two blocks are well situated, hot showers, clean (apart from one urinal was blocked and over filled) and checked quite often, also there was hair drier, shaver points. So all in all the toilet blocks were o.k. The pitches were roomy but to say the site wasn't full to capacity, it might have been a bit of a chew getting car in and out. The site is a haven site which is very family orientated which means money, money, money, nothing is cheap here so you have to expect to spend a lot of money. You need to get into the bars early as it fills very quickly and you wont get a seat but there's a lot of bingo that goes on in both bars, one is for which kids can join in and the other is for cash, which under sixteens aren't aloud in til its finished (which you can have a quite drink with Mrs) then after that the show starts and goes on all night. After a few you can enjoy fish shop, burger king or there's a Chinese but doesn't deliver and about a 5 min walk from main attractions but well worth it. All in all a good site but need plenty of money. It's a treat once in a while for kids to enjoy
