I've mixed feelings about this site! The tourer park is very small and the toilets are not exactly pristine and are in need of updating, hovever it was quite muddy underfoot so this could go part way to explaining the general grubbiness. The water in the showers was blooming freezing so much so that I didn't bother going back (I was only there a weekend I washed in the sink!!!)Also the hairdryer wasn't working.
The main complex was ok with all the usual machines, video games etc and it was very expensive. The chinese restaurant was nice if a bit crowded, it also only has ONE ladies toilet which as it's always busy is woefully inadequate. The chip shop has tasty food, but there is NO price list or menu on display which makes choosing what you want difficult! There was also only one very surly member of staff on duty at 9pm on a Friday night so the queue was huge.
On the up side we only paid 35 pounds for 3nights that was for 3 adults one child and a dog! The dog was nine pounds which is a bit steep. All in all an OK site but could be better!!

May 2005 Me and my family went to Haggerston Castle in 2003 and it was brilliant. I remember on the way there stoping in at Alnwick Castle and when we got to Haggerston I remember waiting for the keys. It was a good holiday though and we went everywhere. We are going again this year and i mean today. I am just waiting for my parents to get up. Im quiet scared it might rain because it said it was meant to rain today.

August 2004 What can I say about this wonderful site? We have 3 children and a dog and have been to Haggerston Castle 2 years running. Admittedly we stayed in one of their sited static vans on both occassions (which by the way were both wonderful!) but friends stayed in the touring area and had no complaints. The showers and toilets were clean and warm with plenty of hot water.
The dog walking "field" is very small and some inconsiderate owners had failed to clean up after their dogs.
This is definately a family complex with loads for the kids to see and do - all the children attended the kids club each day and had a wonderful time. The 2 swimming pools, both with slides, were large and clean - my only complaint is the lack of changing cubicles - having to queue to get dry again isn't fun when you have 3 shivering, moaning children!
There is a riding stables on site for which there is an extra charge. My 3 horse mad children (and myself!) all enjoyed our rides - the children had a half hour trek round the site and I went on a hack. All the horses and ponies were well schooled and well looked after. Plenty of helpful, friendly staff to lead you if necessary.
The food on site is good and reasonably priced. The character breakfasts are not to be missed. There is an excellent Chinese restaurant but you will need to book as it gets very busy!
Entertainment was great fun - we stayed in the family room each evening but speaking to other guests, the acts in the show bar were equally good. The only problem was lack of seating - get there early if you don't want to be standing all night!
All the staff we met were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
We will definately be going back again. We now have a large tent and my one regret is that Haggerston Castle only accept caravans and motorhomes.

April 2004 Pitch was bare of grass due to awning fatigue therefore muddy underfoot.
Haggerston was great for the children as there was everything they could ever want to do. Organised childrens party days with Rory the Tiger and Bradley Bear.
Lots of ponies and a large playground for the children.
On the downside, possibly where we were sited, the late night home comers from the club were very noisy! Fortunately my children were asleep!
We will return again to give it another try in the future.

May 2004 Huge site with hundreds of statics on it. Tourer field quite large but not much room between each pitch. We have a pet but do not recommend taking one because the dog walking field (if you can call it a field) is tiny. Very clean and tidy with a small complex of arcades and a few bars with entertaiment on for familes but it is quite expensive.

September 2003 We booked two nights for the price of one over the internet which I think was a great deal.
The campsite has a large percentage of static caravans but the tourer park was fairly large. The pitch we were allocated was ok. But the size seemed slighly small to me. If we had parked the car next to the camper it would have been right up against next doors awning. However there were larger pitches available (Super pitches with drainage etc).
The site seemed quiet on an evening and the toilets were clean and fresh with access by key (£10 deposit) which stopped other people using the loo on the way up to the main compex.
We unfortunately forgot our swimsuits so did not get a chance to use the pool facilities but they looked great. There was loads to do for the kids - clubs, activities, entertainment and amusements and there were also other activities on site - bike hire and horse riding - which were rather expensive I thought.
We will go back another time in the future but only for short stays as I am not sure there is enough to do to fill in any longer than a few days.
