Friendly welcome and great location. Smallish field for tents but all the better as not too many other campers made for friendly feel. There is an electricity pylon at edge of field but you hardly notice that. The camping area is ringed by trees and horses are in the field behind. Set in country park with nice walks. Toilets and showers basic but clean and tidy. Pub nearby called 2-4-1 does meals at two for one price on main meals. Good food but if you pay a little more then The River Wyre just a little further up at roundabout I thought was better. Quiet location short drive into Blackpool. Would recommend.

We stayed for four nights here and LOVED it. From the moment we drove up we were treated so well: Doreen ran out and greeted us as if we were old friends!
The location is stunning, set in a country park with lakes. Such a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle of Blackpool town center. We were happy to come "home" every night!
The bathrooms are average campsite bathrooms.clean, efficient.
It was a rainy weekend, so the whole site was quiet, and we enjoyed the birdsong and sounds of horses every morning.
We are looking forward to returning again next year.

Started our holiday in Southerness, it was not the type of site we were looking for so headed down to Blackpool. Drove around for hours looking for somewhere that accepted tents. We drove up the driveway and I asked in the shop. The lady said they were full but could manage to squeeze us in behind the toilets. The site was great very peaceful and we were right opposite the park, the kids were on the climbing frame until it got dark and then were straight back out on it in the morning. The toilets were very clean and the site owners very very friendly. The site was quiet and not at all commercialised which was great. Shops were not too far down the road and it is situated quite close to the main pleasure beach, less than ten miles. We only stayed at the site overnight as it was the tail end of our holiday but have already booked 3 nights of our touring holiday there this year.

Visited this camp site just the other day and already going to book to go there again. Although I didnt take my 2 year old daughter this time I will definitely take her on my return. I thought the site was lovely and the toilet block was fine to me! The couple that run it, Doreen and Arnie, were very helpful and very polite and yes I saw the pilon but did not hear a thing, there was no noise and slept very well! Me and my family are definitely going back!

Went for 2 nights camping trip to Fleetwood/ Blackpool last weekend. After driving around for 2 and half hours, because everywhere was full or no longer takes tents, I telephoned to see if there was room on site. Lady who answered said there wasn't but has we had stayed there once before, 2 yrs ago, and had quite a quite and pleasent visit we decided to go and enquire if she knew of anywhere we could pitch tent. The lady seemed to remember us(?!) and after several minutes decided she would make room for us. HOORRAY!
Pitched camp and went for the best meal I've had in years at the local 241 pub nearby Came back and had fantastic walk round the lovely nearby nature reserve and patted the horses in neighbouring field.
Spent fri and sat night had a great time. Kids had a fab time. Not much on the site but it is small and friendly and clean. The shop sells few handy bits and the showers (at 25p a time) are lovely and warm and well worth the money. Small play park for our younger one. Other campers (both times we have visited) have always been pleasent and mindful of their noise.
Its a great little camp site for famillies and close to thornton village and fleetwood. Will definitely be returning before the end of the camping year and the 241 is a must!

Visited the site not knowing what to expect, first impressions where very good and recieved a warm welcome. Site was very well maintained and the pitch size we were allocated was more than adequate. Unlike other reviewers we never had much problems with getting pegs in the ground, however we were on a SLIGHT hill but this never proved to be too much of a problem. There is a huge pylon going over the tent part of the site which makes a buzzing sound but after a while you don't even realise it's there! The toilet and shower block was fairly basic but very clean, you do have to purchase tokens for the shower at a small cost of 25p which when you think about it can be a positive as it stops a large queue forming for use of the showers as you have to pay more which stops people remaining in the showers for long periods of time and using all the hot water. We never had a single cold shower in the two days we where there and never had to queue. Overall very good site with very friendly and helpful owners. Even the people we shared the site with were friendly. Another positive is the easy access from the site to Blackpool town, all travel information is provided by the hosts who also gave us taxi numbers, bus timetables and takeaway menus. Would definitely go back!

Very friendly site and very helpful, we stayed for 3 days and have booked up again for August. This site is very close to towns and only 6 mile off the sea front. Its very quiet and close to the estuary with plenty of walks. The toilets and shower blocks was very clean and central to all thge site. Can not wait to get back there

Visited this site after a couple of others we visited were full. Received a friendly welcome when phoned for directions and upon our arrival. There is a huge pylon on the edge of the tent field which does make a buzzing noise, obviously more noticeable during the night and when damp. The field is on a slope in some areas and my husband moaned about all the stones he was hitting when hammering in the pegs! The toilet block is basic and needs updating. There is no soap and you need to purchase a token for the showers. There are 2 washing up sinks in the laundry room. It cost £12 per night.
It is situated next to the estuary and a Visitors Centre which I understand is worth a visit but we only stayed 2 nights so didn't get round to it.
It's about 8 miles to Blackpool Golden Mile.

July 2005 Stayed here for 2 nights in a tent wasnt over impressed with the site. Room for big improvements in upgrading. Couldnt get pegs in the ground, toilets not very clean and a fair walk from tent area which wasnt good for the children first thing in morning. Person who we waw when we left wasn't polite at all very abrupt. Hydro pylon in tent area.

This place in nicely sited in the grounds of a Country Park on the edge of the River Wyre. The managers were friendly and it's not too badly priced at £12 a night during the illuminations.
However, the toilet block wasn't very well heated or very well equipped with 3 sinks, 2 urinals, 2 toilets and 2 showers (in the gents) although was kept fairly clean.
The kid's play area looked quite good, but was quite a way from our pitch so our kids didn't get up to it.
There are also pylons crossing the site, so you may actually end up right underneath them ! The biggest downside for me was the pitch sizes - they were pretty small and closely packed which gave the appearance of being pitched in a storage site. The small pitches also meant leaving cars on the roadways and made leaving early on Sunday morning 'interesting' navigating our car & caravan through the parked cars.
