We decided to come to Wheal Rodney after reading reviews. Can't say we were disappointed! Lovely, clean site, pitches well marked and reasonably level in the camping meadow. Nice and quiet at night - although you can hear the main road at distance, didn't bother us though! Every one was friendly and they even refunded us the charge for our dog - as we decided at the last minute to leave him at home. Facilities were excellent, showers and laundry facilities warm and clean. The small shop was useful and according to other campers the swimming pool was lovely. There was a good pub just a short walk away, serving basic pub grub with chef's specials, huge portions and reasonably priced. The beer garden afforded fabulous views of St Michael's Mount. Marazion itself was about 20 minutes stroll, mainly downhill - so a bit of a stagger back! Access to the site was good, I don't recommend coming in from Marazion if you are towing or have a large car or camper van, though. We had a brilliant week, loads of walking around the area, a good bus service to other parts of Cornwall and easy access for those of us who prefer to drive ourselves! This site comes highly recommended!

My partner and I have just returned from a fabulous week at Wheal Rodney. We turned up on the Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and our pitch was ready and waiting for us. We were in the camping meadow which has generous pitch sizes so could comfortably fit our 4/6 man tent and our trusty Mondeo next to it and still have plenty of room for BBQ's etc. The showers had a constant supply of free hot water (and I mean hot!) and the bathrooms themselves were very clean and well looked after. I have to echo previous comments about the flowers in the bathrooms - a nice touch. Moving onto the indoor pool. This was a small pool with heated water. The first time I went for a swim it was almost like getting into a bath. As it was September there were only about half a dozen people in the pool at any one time so plenty of room for a gentle swim. I can imagine it getting a little crowded in summer but I believe they limit the number of people in the pool at any one time. Local people also use the pool, so we managed to meet a few locals while using it, who were very pleasant and chatty. Talking of locals, the site is within a few minutes walk of Marazion, with it's pubs and restaurants. I can thoroughly recommend the Fire Engine for a quiet pint - do try the Cornish Cream - and do go on a Sunday for the quiz. We came second (bah!). The site itself doesn't have a bar or club, but the Fire Engine is a bit of an unofficial "clubhouse". Overall the site is ideal for a quiet getaway. Small but perfectly formed, it has everything you need on the site and anything else required within walking distance. We will certainly be returning.

We have been going to this site for many years now and every time has been excellent! The staff are very friendly polite and will go out of their way to make your stay the best! Sian and Steve the owners run the site along with family members and friends its one big happy family and on your stay you are invited into this community with open arms. Not for the young loud single sex groups as no noise is allowed after 10pm which is great for family's with young children. Excellent facilities and as I hated camping with a passion and on many occasion threatened my hubby with divorce if he took me to another crummy site I must say its the best site I have ever been to!

Decided to go camp very locally at the last minute just for one night as the weather was so good. Discovered Wheal Rodney through a general search through UK Campsite. Site was beautifully kept, staff were accommodating and helpful - even for just the last minute, one night types! - facilities were clean, tidy and well maintained. Nice swimming pool. Any rules were clearly displayed. Lots of singing birds and beautiful trees & plants. Directions spot on from website. Would recommend thoroughly.

July 2005 Just arrived back from a fabulous holiday at Wheal Rodney in Marazion. The site is small but perfectly formed. What I mean by this is that there aren't lots of pitches but the pitches are all a very good size. The facilities are excellent with spotless toilet and shower facilities - there is hand soap at each sink and even flowers in the ladies (hubby said there was flowers in the gents too). The showers are brilliant, really powerful even when busy. There is a laundry room with washing up sinks and microwave for campers use. There is free ice pack freezing too. The reception office has lots of tourist information and we found leaflets in there for all the places we wanted to visit. There were also books and games to borrow there too. There is a lovely swimming pool and this is free for the use of guests staying at the holiday park. All the staff are lovely and helpful and you are personally taken to your pitch when you arrive. There were lots of lovely flowers everywhere on site and in Marazion itself. There were a variety of different units on site including caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents, frame tents, dome tents and some small backpacking tents.
Had a really happy and relaxing holiday and would recommend this site to anyone who wants peace and quiet with lots to do in the immediate locality, in particular, if you enjoy not having to rely on using your car. We enjoyed some of the coastal path walks, and days out at St Ives, Penzance, Paradise Park, Sennen Cove and we spend a lot of our time in Marazion itself because it was so beautiful. Plenty of places to eat out and we went to The Cornerhouse and The Cutty Sark for meals out and both are hightly recommended. There are good pubs too and we went out for a few drinks a couple of nights. All things you will need are within walking distance.
I will definitely be booking at Wheal Rodney again and, in fact, can't wait to go back there. I can't recommend this holiday park and Marazion enough. Best holiday ever!

July 2004 Just returned from a very pleasant stay at Wheal Rodney. First impressions were that site rather small but found we'd been allocated an ample size plot and found all staff really helpful. Quiet site, good facilities and ideal for exploring the south west of Cornwall.
Do try the food at the nearby Fire Engine pub, reasonably priced and very good food. Not a lot on site for children apart from swimming pool and playing with the chickens and dogs!! but the owners do state that this is not a site for teenagers. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it for anyone who values peace and quiet.

August 2003 We had a great week at Wheal Rodney - just what we want in a site - nice people, quiet, gorgeous pool (our little boy learnt to swim in our week here!) nice if small pitch and near to all things we needed - ie beaches, Marazion, cycleways, routes to other places. Altogether a great success & a place we would recommend. We're always so picky that is saying something !!!

Easter 2004 We stayed for the fourth year running this Easter (04) The site was taken over by new people two years ago and they are really doing well with upgrading the place, which had been quite rundown. We have never had the problem of a cramped pitch - but then we always book well in advance to get a good one - Top tip - when enquiring - ask the office for the pitch size so you can be sure its O.K. and do tell them if you have a really BIG tent. That is what we do. This year they have a new water heating system & the water is so much faster they are like power showers and are constantly at a good temperature, and don't run out of hot, however busy. All the inside floors are nicely tiled now and the swimming pool is lovely and like a warm bath.
I don't think the site is really suitable for very young children, but then they don't try to pretend that it is! There is no recreation area or playground. The site is small and all space is taken by pitches. Its aimed towards adults who don't want to drive their car everywhere. Its one of the few sites I know that you can park your car up and forget about if for a week as everything - beach, castle, & town are within walking distance. Excellent pub at the end of the lane too! I will definately be returning for my fifth visit next Easter.

August 2002 We enjoyed our stay here. The owners were very helpful and friendly, and the facilities were excellent. Free showers, laundry facilities, swimming pool and just a short walk (about 10 mins) from a pub which had excellent food and views. The dog was made welcome too, and the owners kindly told us how to find the nearest beach where dogs were allowed - something that's hard to find in high season!!
