This site is exactly as other reviews have stated. It is a small quiet family site which is tucked away down a country lane just outside Looe. If you enjoy a lively bustling site with people milling around you all the time then Polborder House is definitely not for you. Peace and quiet are in plentiful supply there.
The hosts are really friendly and helpful and obviously take great care and pride in their pristine site.
The facilities are very well maintained facilities and spotlessly clean.
The only downside for us was that there is no designated dog walking area so we walked our dog through the country lanes surrounding the site which, although they are very picturesque, meant that we could not let him off the lead to run free as there seemed to be fairly steady traffic flow to and fro from the campsite further down the lane.
I would recommend this site to any couple or family who just want to get away and relax.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at this site. It is in a lovely quiet position and is a perfect site for those looking for a low key family feel. The owners are lovely and really friendly, nothing was too much trouble. They kept the site and the facilities spotless and took real pride in keeping the site looking attractive - almost like staying in a well kept garden to be honest!
We were travelling with friends and had two adjacent pitches surrounded by hedges. This was perfect as our children had loads of space to run around between the tents and also in the field in front of us. There are a quite a few caravans on the site and some statics so not that many tents to share the facilities which meant we never queued or had to wait at all. There were obviously quite a few regulars there who were all very friendly.
Our kids enjoyed the playground on the site and there was an excellent laundry room (although perhaps a bit more expensive than we have experienced at other sites at 3.60 per wash). The shop was useful for the basics such as butter, bread, milk etc but didn't have any fresh produce which would have been nice. Although there is a farm shop just down the road and a couple of supermarkets in Looe so this wasn't a problem. We had a meal at the Granary Restaurant a 5 min walk down the road which was good. It is now positioning itself as a Sizzlng Steakhouse but offered a good choice of options.
The weather during our stay wasn't great but we still found lots to do in the surrounding area. Trips to Polperro and Fowey are a must. Looe itself was a nice town and the beach was great particularly late afternoon when the crowds had departed.
All in all a lovely little site which we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

This is a smallish but none the less super, family friendly ,caravan and tent site, with a clean well appointed toilet / shower block, on site laundry facilities, a play area for the kids with swings and climbing frame, on site shop which stocks just about everything you could possibly need from tent pegs to tv aerials ( though if you require a daily newspaper, these have to be pre-ordered)
The owners of the site are very friendly and offer a warm welcome to all, always on hand to offer help and advice on where to eat and drink etc.
A 5 min walk from the site is,'The Granery' restaurant, which offers a full range of meals as well as a take away service if required.
There is also a long established monkey sanctuary a short walk away.
The historic harbour towns of Looe and Polperro are only a short drive away and both have ample pubs, bars and eateries catering for all tastes and are well worth a visit.
Another must see area ,again only a short drive away, are the beaches and coves along Whitsands Bay, these coves have a real lunar / volcanic atmosphere and traversing the steep ,winding cliff path's down to them is an adventure in itself
The only very slight down side is that the roads in the area are little more than single track lanes edged by high hedges and can make it a little frustrating at times when going from a to b as and when you meet traffic coming the other way.
The only other piece of advice I can offer is that if you are ( as I am ) a smoker is to take enough fags to cover last you over your first night, because should you ( as I did ) run out neither the on site shop or The Ganery sell cigarettes.
But don't let that put you off, Polborder House is one, of if not the, best site we have stayed on in a long time and are already looking forward to our next visit in the not too distant future

What a wonderful find. A lovely peaceful site, all pitches well spaced with hook-ups, Water points in abundance. Toilets & Showers kept immaculate. Little shop on site very well stocked and very well priced. Amanda & Dale very friendly nothing too much trouble, Even after a good amount of rain the site was well drained. Car is essential as nothing much close by but local taxi's are reasonably priced.

If you want peace and quiet, what an excellent site. This was the cleanest quietest site we have stayed on. The shower block / toilets were always clean and tidy and that to me is one of the most important things. Lots of electric hook ups and drinking water taps available across the site. Most of the pitches looked to be flat although we were on a slight slope, but not enough to worry about. Evenings were very quiet, with everyone respecting the other visitors on the site. The access road was a little hairy at times as it is a single track, but once you get used to it - it's fine. The location is great for Looe and the surrounding areas. It is on the top of a hill so could be a little windy at times. The site shop had an ample supply of essentials. If we ever return to Cornwall I will be making sure I book this site.

We have just got back from 12 wonderful nights at this brilliant, quiet and very peaceful site. We had originally booked 10 nights but extended to 12 as we were having such a great time.
A very quiet and peaceful site with generous pitches, we opted for a serviced pitch and were very pleased. On arrival the owners were more than helpful when we realised that we needed our own waste pipe which the very well equipped site was able to provide at an extremely good price. Dale (owner) was more than helpful to come over and assist us with fittings etc.
The showers/toilets were immaculately clean and the shop very well stocked with everything you could think of!
This is a lovely site in the heart of the country side, lovely views of rolling country side. Looe is only a couple of miles away and as the weather was so lovely we spent many a day down there on the beach. There is another beach a short distance away (Seaton) which we also liked which was very quiet and had a nice (if a bit pricey) beach cafe and a pub (parking was cheaper than Looe).
The site is well situated for Plymouth,Looe, Polperro, Liskard etc. There is a Morrisons in Liskard which is about 7 miles away.
I would not hesitate to come back here, in fact, I was really sad to come home!
Great site, immaculate facilities, great owners, great location - what more could you ask for!
As for the comments about the narrow access lane, well. This is Cornwall and there are lots of roads like this. We had no probs with our caravan, plenty of passing places - well worth the trip up a fairly short lane to a wonderful site!
Would definitely recommend this site and would definitely come again if we visit this area.

I cannot recommend this campsite more. Myself and my Fiancé camped here during one of the hottest weeks of sunshine of the year. The site is very clean and very well managed. Set down a tiny, quite remote country path, its quiet and beautiful.
The owners of the site couldn’t have been more helpful even if they tried and the little on site shop sold everything you could possibly need. The toilets and showers were the cleanest I've ever seen on a campsite. Usually I would bring a pair of flip flops to shower in but I didn’t feel the need to do that here as it was so clean. It was also a welcome change (being a Radio one girl myself) having Radio Two piped into the showers.
A short walk down the road is a little pub and restaurant and in Cornwall, you're never really that far from a nice beach somewhere!
I know most people have said it in their reviews but one of the only downsides is the very narrow road that leads to the site. I only drive an Astra but if you have a caravan on the back of your car I could see it being a struggle unless you are a very good driver. But most of the locals who use this road are used to the narrowness and are careful so please don’t let this put you off going there.
Highly recommended, would definitely go there again.

A warm welcome from the owners who were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A nice quiet peaceful site with spacious pitches. Plenty of water taps and hook-ups. The shop was well stocked, toilets and showers were spotless, hot water at all times, and a very handy laundry room was available. One slight disadvantage was the lane from the main road was narrow but worth the effort. A brilliant area for sightseeing with LOOE being the nearest seaside town being particularly interesting and pleasant.

Excellent clean facilities (free hot showers) and the most wonderful, friendly, helpful and nice owners you could wish to meet. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Great to have own tap at the pitch, which was level and well drained. Great position not far from the coast and a 6 or 7 minute walk down the lane to a decent restaurant.
Will definitely stay again if in the area - thanks a lot!

A really beautiful campsite! Quiet setting in the middle of the countryside, (be warned the only access is a single track road but it's worth it when you get there) lovely pitches separated by hedges so when we'd put our windbreaks up it felt totally private, the facilities were immaculate, nothing fancy but all you could ask for. The campsite is out in the middle of nowhere so is great if you're looking for peace and quiet and a get away from it all break, if you are looking for somewhere to go in the evening there is a really nice restaurant and bar within walking distance, recommended by the campsite owners, the Granary restaurant is well worth a visit. We had booked a two night stay at the beginning of June and were planning to move on to another campsite for a further two nights but we were so pleased we decided to spend all four nights of our holiday here. We were lucky to enjoy fantastic weather during our stay so were happy to stay around our tent in the evenings and have a barbeque etc, if the weather had not been so good we might have wished for few more local amenities such as bars and restaurants, however, as it was it was perfect! Highly recommended!
