We can agree with all the comments listed here, we had a week there and found it fantastic, the weather was scorching hot though so that certainly made a difference.
The site is very well located but sheltered (unlike other sites in this area). The owners kept everything spotless, although we camp around 5 times a year this is one of the best kept sites we have ever stayed on.
Dale and Amanda are very friendly and do their very best to make you stay a good one.
If you are looking for a quiet family site we are sure you will love this one. We can't wait to go there again, in fact we didn't want to come back home!
One point though, during high season you are requested to leave before 10.00am, that's fair enough for new campers coming in but it gives very little time for the dew to dry out on the tent and I hate having to put a wet tent away.

I agree with most of the comments about this site - but the basic details require a little more padding. For example, yes the site is described as level, with a slight slope. Unfortunately all the level bits are reserved for caravans, and the best pitches appear to be kept more or less permanently for the 'regulars'. The tent field is the one with the slope - fine for a small 1-2 man tent, but for anything larger, then the slope is annoying, and you will need to wedge cookers level etc. The toilets are clean and tidy, but the cubicles are tiny. I am not a particulary large frame, but there was only about an inch or two to spare between my shoulders and the walls, meaning the toilet tissue dispensers were sited in an awkward position as well and easily knocked into. Be aware that the water can get VERY hot. The piped music referred to is Radio 2.
The shop prices are a bit on the steep side (as you would expect) but a nice touch is that Dale will take a newspaper order for you, so your preferred choice of reading is available each morning.
This is also another of those sites that charge for your dog, but do not provide any doggy facilities.
There is a really nice restaraunt about 500 yards from the site (The Granary) - where they do an excellent Sunday carvery.

Just returned from spending ten days at Polborder House, what can I say brill, great, fab,. Toilet block cleaned every day very adequate for every ones needs, free hot showers, small playground for youngsters, washing up area good free hot water. Site had a small shop which catered for basic needs plus some extras one might of forgot, emergancy camping needs, daily newspapers magazines fresh bread, milk and eggs. Also other bits and bobs.
Site owners extremely helpful with advise, where to go for nice meals and surrounding areas of interest. Information gift pack with a selection of attractions very useful. Site 2 miles from Looe where there are gifts shops supermarkets restraunts, and nice beach.
Morrisons, Argos and Homebase only 7 miles away for them additional requirements. Nothing was to much trouble for the site owners. The site itself level to slight slope good rural views of surrounding countryside. Pitches idividual with small conifer hedges dividing them a well maintained site, we will be going back well worth a visit, quiet, relaxing, shelterd, good drainage to ground.

Excellent campsite for visiting cornwall. We arrived after a soggy 4 hour trip on our motorcycle and was given a nice friendly greeting from the owners, they could not have been any more helpful, offering us a caravan hard standing pitch for our tent and motorcycle. The facilities here are very clean and excellent, showers hot, laundry (to dry the soggy bike gear!) have absolutely no hesitation in reccomending this site to anyone who want to get away for a nice peaceful break. The site was easy to find and the granary resturant down the road (5 mins walk) was excellent.Onsite shop sold everything you needed and had all the local tourist info in their information room to help plan your days out. Will be back here again soon to see more of cornwall, keep up the good work guys, the site is a credit to you both.

Just had to write in to say how much we enjoyed staying at this quiet, well organised, clean site with its friendly, helpful young owners.
We received a wonderful welcome after a very long journey from the North. We hadn't camped for years, and were a bit apprehensive, but the Byers did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable - even though the weather was more than a little wet at times.
A small level site with lots of shelter and plenty of room around our tent, a well equipped shop, scrupulously clean toilets, hot water at all times, free showers - lots of them, great washing up facilities.
Polborder is ideal if you want a quiet, restful, hassle-free holiday in beautiful surroundings. It's also a very good place to stay to visit any part of Cornwall.
Well done Dale and Amanda. You are doing a great job. Hope to be back soon!

A most fantastic site. We had a tent, with lecky hook up. The site owners are new this year and cannot do enough for you. So many positive points - we had to leave early and they re-calculated our bill so that they only charged us for what we stayed - excellent - we even received an invitation to a party on the site held by them. This is a very quiet, small site, situated within easy reach of the South West Coastal Path, Looe, Polperro etc. The shop on site is stocked with fresh pastries every day, newspapers, milk, camping equipment, maps and so on and so forth. The toilet block is immaculate - cleaned twice a day, and even has music piped through it. Dish washing facilities good and a useful recycling facility. Do visit this site first, before, for example booking Bay Farm, the more popular site round the corner. We would clearly return to this site without a shadow of a doubt.

This is a lovely site, so glad we found it. The facilities are spotlessly clean and the owners are really helpful and friendly. We have a large twin axle caravan and had no trouble negotiating the road to the site, we found the passing places were ok, we let the cars pass us instead of us trying to negotiate passing the cars as the previous reviewer (certainly no more difficult than many other sites we have visited in Cornwall). If you are looking for peace and quiet you will find it here. We will most certainly be returning.

I agree with everything said so far a very nice site, very secluded, peaceful and very well looked after, but the access road to it is very narrow and with few passing places if you can call them that when you have a 6ft wide car and a caravan in tow, it can be very dicey. When we arrived 15 cars had to reverse and we scratched the windows down one side of our van as we tryed to pass the cars, I was not amused at this, so if visiting this site with a caravan or camper van be advised the access road is very narrow indeed.

To update Emvid1's review of 2004, we have just come back from a fabulous week at this great site. Following 2 weeks of rain we wondered how wet the site would be. It was in very good condition. The toilet/shower facilities were spotlessly clean at all times (site was full for bank holiday w/end) and never had to wait for a shower, toilet or sink. Washing up facilities also were very clean. Didn't need to use the laundry. There seemed to be plenty of electric hookups. Also have information shed with lots of leaflets for things to do throughout Cornwall. The owners were very friendly and helpful, the shop was the best site shop we have seen. Small play area for 3-8 year olds. Soft ball games are allowed in the centre of both fields. The quiet rule (between 10.30pm and 8.30am) was obeyed, the only sounds to be heard were birds, donkeys and peacocks! Very restful and peaceful site in beautiful Cornish countryside. Just a couple of miles from Looe where there is a Somerfield store and a Co-op late store for food shopping, plenty of cafes, takeaways and bakers for excellent Cornish pasties. We loved this site and will definitely return.

August 2004 Spent 6 very wet nights on this site. A small very quiet site of 30 or so pitches. All generally level and in 2 fields with pitches all around the edge with little hedges seperating some. Considering the obscene amount of rain we endured the ground did not become particuarly waterlogged. Upon arrival you are issued with keys for the toilet block which is kept very clean. Free showers and hot water the hot water being VERY hot indeed (so watch out if with kids). Hairdyer 20p. There is also a little step by the sinks for young kids. 3 washing up sinks undercover. Baby changing room with large sink suitable for bathing a baby but not a toddler. The play area consists of 2 swings and a slide. There is a small shop open 8.30 till 10.30 in mornings and for an hour or so from 5.30pm. The shop sells basic food etc, few camping bits and bobs a few toys for the kids (colouring books, skipping ropes etc). The launderette consists of a domestic washing machine (costs £1.80 per wash) a domestic tumble drier £1 for 1 hour which I found to take a long time to dry my washing. There is also a spin drier which is free to use. The iron is 20p for half an hour. In peak season there are buses and mini buses that stop at the site and go to Looe and the surrounding area. Looe is only 5 minutes by car. Being August there were lots of kids on site (including our own)who played in the large open space in the middle of each field, despite this, the campsite was still very peaceful and all campers/caravanners respected the quiet rules between 10pm and 8.30am. If you want peace and quiet I would highly recommed this site.
