We're reasonably new to camping. There are 5 in our family: 2 adults, 1 child of 14, 1 of 4 and 1 of 2. We stayed at Glan Y Mor for 7 nights. We have a large Gelert Satellite (6 berth) tent. We stayed at what was supposed to be summer, but rained most of the time, unfortunately.
Cost: £12 per pitch (non-electrical)
Pros: Plenty of entertainment: swimming pool, mini-bowling alley (4 lanes), free ball-pool, amusements, mini fun fair (just 5 minutes walk away), beach (also 5 minutes walk away), gym, spa, large football pitch just next to the tent pitches, decent small park (consisting of slide, swings, wooden fort, sand pit, wooden train), kids' club (50p per child for about 2 hours: under 5s need supervising. Activities included bowling, sports games, rock painting, cake making, etc etc), bingo, free evening entertainment (karaoke, singer, kids' games). There's a great view of Clarach Bay, and the site is right on the coast. There are a couple of lovely coastal walks to Aberystwyth and Borth (where sand can be found!). The beach, although very stony, is great for exploring the rock pools, and is also very clean. The site is very clean, with well drained pitches that are pretty flat. There's a choice of having an electrical hookup (at a cost). There is a good range of eating places that have different menus: the Glan Y Mor club (where the evening entertainment is held), the Barn Restaurant, the leisure club, nearby fish 'n' chips, and nearby pizza parlor. The toilet block is a temporary building, but cleaned several times a day. The showers are free. The site also includes a Day and Night shop selling magazines as well as a good range of food.
Cons: The kids' club is fun by a rather overworked woman, called Kylie, who is brilliant, but it can be rather chaotic, if a large number of kids turn up. The second larger park (below where the tourers were placed) was in a poor state or repair. The pitches seem to contain more than the expected number of stones (so bring a hammer). The top field (where the tent pitches are) is quite exposed (so bring extra guy-lines and pegs!) The temporary toilet block is in need of repair, with one or two holes in the floor. The eating places are (as expected) a little pricey, and the Barn Restaurant always seemed to be empty in the evening. The prices in the shop are also a little high, but this is also to be expected.
We can't really blame the site for the site for the atrocious weather (almost constant rain and gale force winds that threatened to damage the tent!), although the rain water did drain away fairly quickly!

We booked ahead with electric, £70 for 5 nights in height of summer so price was ok - they don't tell you the pool is extra - no private showers either so it was a quick swill with swim stuff on in front of the rest of the swimmers, which was disappointing as we were looking forward to a decent shower as the top field ones were hopeless - a trickle of scalding water so be careful with kids! And mind your bum on the loo seats - most gave a nasty nip free on each visit! Cleaners seen cleaning loos etc its just that they need replacing or fixing really. CDU had a proper drain cover ie heavy metal to lift each time even for soapy/waste/grey water and no hose to rinse. All in all a very basic site facility wise so be prepared, but the kids loved it for the pool and the beach on the doorstep. Views brilliant from top field and we were right at the front - but beware of the wind as it is very exposed - some tents blew down, had broken poles and even went home in the night when we were there - Delta pegs saved us! Decent Co-Op nearby as is Morrisons & Lidl in Aberystwyth. Spar shop on site - handy and tasty fish n chippy in the amusement area between the 2 sites. Would go back to keep the kids happy but not if I got a chance for the two of us.

As other reviews have mentioned there are two sites for camping. The website for this site is very misleading as shows lovely level touring pitches and not the high field behind where the pool is. The website shows lovely modern shower blocks, but the top field are far from modern and not very clean. Whilst there was plenty to keep the children entertained, pool, bowling, etc, the bar and restaurant looked reasonable, we were very disappointed with this site. If you are camping you are more than likely to be put on the top field, and it is very windy up there. The day we arrived the winds were very strong and people had had damage to their tents. We decided not to stay!

As mentioned previous there are 2 fields, one at the bottom mainly for tourers, and the top field mainly for tents. We stayed on the top field. The pitches are marked out, 9 metres square all in a row with a cars width between your row and the next row. It was cramped. The toilets were vary rarely cleaned and the showers were dirty and tiny. The view from the cliff top is spectacular, but marred by the amusement arcades and mini funfair. Once the lights from the arcade/funfair had gone out at night, and the base noise from the club had stopped it was quite pleasant listening to the waves lapping the shore. The beach was shingle and pebble and not very clean. We took the children in the pool and that was lovely. We didn't bother with the bowling because it is in the corner of the bar and very smokey. The 'Barn Restaurant' is actually a cafe serving things such as cooked breakfasts, toasted sandwiches and microwaved pasties and sausage rolls. We moved from this site after three nights, but to be honest that was too long! (we moved to a farm site near Cardigan Nant-Y-Croi and that site was lovely)

Although we stayed in a tent, we were with family who had a touring caravan. There are 2 seperate areas for campers/tourers. The bottom field is mainly for tourers, although tents are allowed there if there is space. You need a key to get into the toilet block (£10 refundable deposit) which is a great idea as it stops the kids playing around in there. Showers are great and the facilities are kept nice and clean. The top field has stunning views out over the bay but is rather exposed to the elements. The toilet block up there was a portable building which I can't comment on as we didn't use it - however if it's like the rest of the site, it will be nice and clean too. They really go all-out to cater for the family here. A minature bowling alley (easy for the kids!) indoor heated swimming pool, soft play area for the toddlers and entertainment for kids each evening (and the older kids later on!). A great bar with tv (the World cup was on whilst we were there and they had some fab specials on drinks!) Not much of a beach - it's all large pebbles, but nice nonetheless. Kids enjoyed the rock pools. Unfortunately you cannot book at this site, so it's strictly a first come first served basis. Ok if you've not travelled far, but I don't think I would risk it if I'd travelled 2hrs + The only downside to this site in my opinion. The site is mainly statics but tourers and campers are still welcomed and have great facilities of their own. On a Sunday there is the local outdoor market about 5 mins walk away, a huge car boot and other stalls where you can snap up some bargains. You can also walk 'over the hill' a coastal path to Aberystwyth which is a nice little town in itself and has some good shops. A fab site which really won the kids over - we shall certainly be returning as it's only 40 mins from home!

27 June 2004 First time camping with a young child, aged 2 years going on 20, had a great time only there for 4 days but enjoyed every minute. Weather was a bit miserable but there was a lot to do on camp.
We hope to come back to this campsite next month for a 3 day break as it really was fun the baby, really enjoyed the talent show and got up twice to sing, I didnt realise how brave she was. I'm so glad we were lucky in finding this site.

April 2004 We regularly visit this site.
Touring park is very clean and well kept. Wardens (Geoff & his wife) are very helpful and friendly.
Ideal for kids and adults alike. Site has a good clubhouse, excellent pool & leisure complex and a well stocked SPAR shop.
Easy access to mainly pebble beach but Borth (5 Miles North) has a fantastic sandy beach. The sea front has a small funfair / amusement area for kids.
Toilets and showers are checked several times a day - every day and are always clean.
This is another example of a good touring park, from which some of the bigger sites could learn so much from.

2002&2003 Absolutly love this site, It reminds me of a mini Butlins. By that I mean very child and family orientated. Clean site, friendly staff, escpecially Mr Jolly, Barry and Hedgehog. Whenever and wherever you see Barry (kids entertainer) the kids can shout "DEAD BUGS" and Barry will fall to the floor and do a dying fly impression. This kept the children alert while on a day out, they were all looking for Barry!!!!!! Kids look foward to the kids club all year and never want to leave. Last year we went to Spain for a week (first time abroad ) then 2 days later went to Glan-y-mor for a week, on my daughters parents evening I looked through a story titled "MY HOLIDAY" It read ....This year for our holidays we went to glan-y-mor - no mention of Spain,,,,need I say more.

May 2003 Mostly caravans. Very nice flat and well drained tent area without formal pitches with boundaries which was nice. Nice barked play area with good condition wooden play equipment. Good toilet/shower block which is cleaned at the least every day and checked many times in between. Lovely refurbished indoor pool. A very well run site. Although we prefer a slightly more "rural" type site, this "Haven Holidays" style site was perfect as we had two 10 year old girls and it rained most of the time. No complaints at all.

Easter 2003 We have visited Glan Y Mor at least twice every year for the past 20 years. We first went when our children were small and it's a kids paradise, kids club twice a day then entertainment for them in the main club until 9 o'clock every night. The beach has some sand, mainly stones, but is on the doorstep. This year it has been awarded a clean beach flag. There is a superb swimming pool and leisure complex including a mini bowling alley. The club features great entertainment in the evenings and bingo each lunchtime. The bar food and drinks are reasonable, there is also a posh restaurant in a converted barn where we enjoyed an extremely imaginative menu, including wines and drinks which cost just over £100 for 6 adults. The Spar shop on site is well stocked, reception staff at the park are very helpful. There is loads to do in the area and reception has a great booklet listing some of the nearby towns and attractions. We've already booked again! They do get booked up very quickly so have alternative dates available when you ring.
