Very friendly owners run this in a lovely location (if muddy for tents due to recent rains). Excellent play area and well stocked shop on site. Lots to do and see in the local area.
Due to the size of the site there aren't enough showers to accommodate everyone without long queues, plus the family/disabled bathroom will cost you an additional £3 every time simply to borrow the key! On the plus side the hot water is indeed hot and no 20p nonsense for the showers.
Pool is a lovely addition but the owners close it at 5.30 each day so if you go out for the day the chances are that you wont get back in time to use it.
Overall good with those two major reservations

Having selected this site based on reviews and the location, really efficient communication when booking. We were met by friendly owners, who gave us a choice of three pitches close to the entrance (more in a moment) The site is lovely for us if it were adults only it would be heaven!
From late afternoon the noise levels rise to a caucophony and then by 21.00 dies away to peace and quiet.
The facilities were really clean, but two toilets in the gents and just three showers means that a wait is inevitable.
Other reviews mentioned the bogginess of pitches in the rain. I cant comment on the pitches in the wood. However. By luck more than judgement our bedroom pod was on harder ground, the rain started late eve, 7 hours later we woke to a swamp around the front of the tent! Drainage is an issue on the field near the entrance. Overall a lovely site, slightly expensive. But friendly courteous service.Nice woodland walks.

This was our 3rd visit to Alpine grove in 2 years, and not our last, the owners Richard and Helen could not be more welcoming, with each visit you can see the improvements they are making. This time we were in a group of 3 families and were given flat open area to pitch our tents, the children had soon disappeared to play on the trampoline and explore the wood (this camp site feel's very safe for children).
The facilities were clean and pleasant, although the shower could have been a tad warmer.
On the second night we hired a firepit complete with log's forks, sausages & marshmallows, and all sat round it till the small hours, the kid's thought it was brill.
A lovely day on the beach at lime regis (25 mins away) the next day completed a great weekend.
Have already booked a return trip. Highly Recommended
Oh forgot to say this site is dog friendly, we took our lab along and she had a great time as well

We went to Alpine Grove as a group of 4 families in tents and we loved it!
The woodland location makes it great for sitting in the shade if you want to but also there are some great exposed areas to bathe in the sunshine (which we had a lot of)
We were allocated an area to set up in and were basically left to it, no restrictions as to you must pitch facing this way etc.
The owner Richard is extremely helpful and offered to kit us out with a fire pit if we needed one, along with logs, and even marshmallows. We certainly enjoyed the toasting and setting fire to our marshmallows.
The kids loved the woods and the swimming pool. And the play area was a big hit.
The showers always seemed available in the ladies (not sure about the mens) whenever you went to visit them.
Great shop that stocks the essentials, and the luxuries if you need them (Such as Magnums and soleros!)
I am definitely going back with the family.
Very highly recommended here

Visited over the late May bank holiday.
Here is what I liked:
Good woodland site with open grassy areas as well as wooded areas
Excellent facilities for kids - kids can explore the site safely, use the play area with swings, slides and trampoline, use the open air swimming pool
Good clean toilets, showers and washing up facilities, inc. Coin operated laundry
Very friendly owners who ran a little shop as welll which was useful for stuff like bacon, free range eggs, etc
Areas for improvement - showers could be warmer and more powerful. Lights in loos are movement sensitive so if you are in the loo for a little while you could be left in the dark. But these are very minor things. Required minimum 4 days booking over a bank holiday.
Overall an excellent site with lots to do in the area - we went to the seaside (Lyme Regis) which is 25 mins away by car.

My husband and I stayed at Alpine grove on Sunday night. We only stayed for one night, on our way down to Truro from London. The weather was lovely when we got there and we pitched our tent and had a wonder around the site. The facilities here are second to none, we will certainly be back with our 8 year old to enjoy the children's play area and pool! Even though we packed our soaked tent up at 6:30am - we have found a gem in this site!

My first encounter with this site was when booking on the telephone. The man I spoke to was chatty and helpful - great first impression. When we rang for directions, he was patient and helpful. On arrival in the area, we were immediately impressed. The site is completely flat with trees. We were told to pitch wherever we liked as they weren't full. You're not put in rows, you can go where you fancy. There is a small shop in the reception area, a swimming pool, and great facilities. I suspect that the toilet block has had a fairly recent revamp - it all looks new inside, very clean and spacious. Washing up facilities were great, and laundry was available. The site encourages recycling and there were bins behind the toilet block for this too. We weren't there long enough to check out the surrounding area, we were using it to break up a long journey - but I would definitely stay there again and visit the local attractions, which include a wildlife park and an abbey. Overall, highly recommended. Good price, excellent facilities and lovely staff.

This small and very pretty site has new owners again from when we last visited. They have extended the facilities, but the standard could be better. I can imagine these may not be adequate at peak times. You can choose a pitch anywhere there is hookup around the site, there are lots of trees and shrubs making it all very cosy. There is a small play area and not much open space for children's games.
They now have log cabins to rent out which we were able to have a look at inside, they are of a very high quality.
The site is in a good location, being not too far from the coast and several attractions. The local town of Chard has everything you need, and Taunton is not too far.

Despite rotten weather, we really liked this site. It was lovely to have pitches that weren't in rows and to be tucked in among the trees.
There is a good sized play area for children, a small but attractive pool and the excellent facility of dog-sitting, in case you want to visit an attraction where dogs aren't allowed.
The loos and showers are clean and well kept and the family who run the site are really friendly and helpful.
We also really enjoyed being able to hire a fire pit for the night, which came with a large supply of logs and forks to toast sausages and marshmallows - a hit with all the family.

We had a lovely three days at this site. The children loved the trampoline, park and woods. It was very wet whilst we were there and the ground was quite boggy. Quite a few pitches are definitely not suitable for tents. If you are in a caravan you pitch on gravel so dont have these problems. Many tents had to pitch on the bogs as no other pitches available. You pay full settlement six weeks prior so no refunds!
