Arrived in the pouring rain to find both our reserved pitches were available earlier than expected as previous occupants had left earlier due to the wet weather- I know now why! We had to dig trenches around our 2 pitches (H + I) as the ground was so muddy and waterlogged. I expected the site to be larger as only the front of the entire site was dedicated to campers. The rest was woodland, which was great for the kids to explore and they loved it. We asked for a wooded area and we got it, just a shame it was so exposed to the rest of the site as it was right by the main entrance and alongside the road, although it was an unbusy road.
Owner Richard and his wife were both very friendly and helpful. Their 2 dogs were delightful, loved the slipper dog as we called it! Kids loved the site and swam in pool despite the weather. Washrooms/showers were cleaned daily and very good and never crowded.
Overall, it was a good, generally quiet and well run campsite only marred by the constant wet weather and the oiks on the next pitch next to us - nothing that Richard could have helped - other than to have asked them to perhaps leave given the 'dogs should not cause a disturbance' notice on all loo doors?!

Just returned home after one week at Alpine grove, and I feel I have to say that Richard and his wife Helen and of course Richards mother and father were so helpful and polite, and couldn't do enough for us, however the weather was terrible from the start and the best day was friday the day we went home.
The site got very very boggy, worse in the tent fields and drainage was not very good so we woke up every day with a pond in our Awning.
The main let down was there was only one toilet block to serve the whole site and with only two toilets and two showers we found ourselves waiting on many occasions.
Talking to local people in near by Chad, told us that the campsite sits in a Valley that always has the grey rain clouds over, and I must say that this seemed true enough because as we went further in to Devon the weather got somewhat better with lots of sun and no rain, and on our return Guess what! it was raining at the campsite.
Over all we had a lovely holiday despite the weather. Pool was great especially in the rain really was clean and very warm, 82 most days in the water, would return if weather was guaranteed, obviously not though! and another shower and toilet block was put closer to the tent field to cut down some of the traffic.
We also found the 10 amp electric hook up system very annoying as it kept on tripping out every 30 seconds or so and found we could not have more than one electric appliance working in the caravan and we had to abandon our electric kettle and use the gas stove to boil the water as the 10 amps could not cope! would off been so much better with 16 amp!

Lovely quiet site with welcoming hosts. Richard showed us the various pitches available and allowed us to take our pick. There are 2 log cabins available on site too.
Facilities are first class but be aware the lights on the toilets are on a motion sensor and you can find yourself sat in the dark if not careful late at night! Lovely little swimming pool.
Site is a good base for sight seeing, with both Cricket St Thomas and the excellent Forde Abbey very close by.
All in all an excellent place to stay if you want a nice and quiet time (well apart from the rooks) and will be going back soon I hope.

We spent our second week of a fortnight holiday here.
Arriving at this site from the previous site was a little disappointing.
From open spaces in the sun to our new pitch in the shade of trees. From luxury toilet block previously to this toilet block.
Dont get us wrong this is a lovely site with friendly, helpful owners in a good rural location. Its just that we were a little spoilt with the site where we spent our first week.
The swimming pool is a little small, but it is FREE, the toilets are clean but a little dated now, small shop/reception.
Once the initial disappointment had passed we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will probably return to in the future

Alpine Grove is a perfect quiet site set in beautiful surroundings. It is set in level woodland with Rhododendron bushes everywhere, which give excellent secluded, spacious pitches.
The facilities are excellent, toilets clean and showers always hot.
There is a play area with swings, slides and a trampoline, but also a couple of dens have been built within the Rhododendron bushes. A childs haven!
The pool wasn't yet open when we were there, but looked lovely and clean, and safe for the children.
The owners, Richard and Helen are very welcoming and friendly, as are their two dogs, Freddie and Murphy!
It is a very dog friendly site with lots of walks close by. There is a dog sitting service available which is an excellent bonus.
Alpine Grove is the perfect place to stay if you like peace and quiet and enjoy being surrounded by trees rather than people! A wonderful site.

Myself, husband and two sons (aged 9 and 12) stayed at this pretty site during the first week of the school summer holidays. The weather was appalling and the site got very very boggy in places. The children did not seem to mind the mud and played very happily in the small playground and amongst the woodland walk area. We had a pitch under the trees and although this did not get too boggy we had the rain coming off the trees for a long time after.
Toilets were very clean and although only 3 showers there did not seem to ever be a queue. The pool was used by us on the only day we had sunshine and it was clean and well maintained. The shop was extremely small and did not stock much at all, in fact, they did not even sell newspapers. I liked the recycling bins, a very good and green idea. And as the website states there was a genuine owl that hoots during the night. My youngest was not impressed but I thought it was lovely to be so close to nature in that way. In an ideal location for many attractions and sight seeing. Just a shame about the weather but that is something that we could not control.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming. A fantastic site, lovely and peaceful especially at night listening to the owls. Very clean and spotless. The toilet blocks very clean and with plenty of hot water. The kids loved the heated pool. The youngest enjoyed the play area with trampoline. The wood was great for the dogs. The dog sitting service is excellent. Never known a site to have this service and would recommend this to anyone who is going out for a long day and dogs are not allowed. They are very well looked after and exercised. I would recommend this site to anyone and will return in the future.

This was the first leg of our august tour. Very friendly owners, especially the dogs. We pitched in the woods which can be a little secluded, which I like but the wife would rather nosey at other people. We pitched on a grassless area and had a problem on the second day after a torrential downpour created a bit of a mudbath. The owner was soon at hand with a bail of hay which solved the problem. The toilet block had two male and three female showers. I thought this would be insufficient but I never had to queue. The showers are large and very well cleaned and maintained. The playground is excellent for children, located in the woodland area. We never really used the pool due to the weather but it looked very clean. There are many little visitors,we even had a robin pay a visit at breakfast and the little bleeder got stuck inside our tent. The hooting of owls at night is a real treat to rock you to sleep but also, the foxes can wake you up! There is a small shop for the basics and there is a large tesco about 3 miles away. Overall A pleasurable stay.

This is a great little site, the owners are friendly and helpful. We spent two weeks here with five young children aged between 8 months to 8 years.
The site is split into two areas, level grass pitches with electric hookups and the more secluded woodland area which is quieter. But be warned the wooded area does tend to flood with heavy rain and a few campers were washed out and it did get extremely muddy. The site is generally quite peaceful after about 21.30 at night but if you do have noisy neighbours the site owner is always willing to have a discreet word.
The facilities consist of two showers and two toilets for men and three showers and three toilets for the women, can't say I ever had to queue and they were always clean. One thing to note however there are no baby facilities here, there is a family room which consists of a bath, toilet and shower but this will cost you 3 pounds for half an hour and you need to book it in advance the site owner then gives you a key to the room. There is also a laundry room which consists of a washing machine and tumble dryer, the machines run on tokens which are purchased from the shop, you have to get to the shop early to get the tokens as they do tend to run out.
The kids loved the play park and exploring the woods which aren't large it has to be said. On the plus side it is easy to find your kids when they go of roaming in the woods and there are even a few old air raid shelters in the woods. On the whole a pretty good site but could do with some free baby facilities!

I found this to be a charming campsite, facilities were basic but very good and clean. The shop was open mornings and afternoon and stocked a range of local produce. The swimming pool was well used but clean and well presented but a bit deep for non-swimmers at 1.4m. The toilet block was always clean but with only two showers a Que often formed at peak times especially for the ladies but always had plenty of hot water.
The play ground was good with a trampoline, swings and slides provide ample for the kids to do in morning afternoon with a woodland walk.
The woodland setting was fantastic and drained well with even a night of heavy rain leaving the ground for the most part only slightly soggy. The paths for cars caravans was well packed hardcore.
The site is well situated for exploring the local area right on the Somerset Devon boarder, with Lyme Regis just 20 min car drive and Chard just 5min .
The staff were always helpful and happy
All in all very well recommended
