We took this on based on a recommendation and were at the site 3rd week in July 2007.
The owners are very friendly. Richard is fantastic and will go out his way to help you.
There is a clean, single toilet block ( men's : 2 showers, 3 toilets, but we never had to queue up for either.
The shop is open for a few hours in the morning and in the afternoon, but there is a big Tesco in Chard, just 1.4 miles away.

The kids loved the trampoline and the swings and slides. Best of all was the deep rhododendron forest. It is part of the site, and feels very good. It's great for the Kids too. Ther is also a free heated swimming pool.

The site is also very popular with Europeans, especially Dutch. It's good to have this, and the children are polite and kind to each other.
There aren't many teenagers, and I think Richard prefers it that way.

We managed to get the last pitch when we were booking in May, so you need to book early. Also, it seems that there is some pressure to maximise profits from the site. We had to pay for an extra day, just so the pitch would not be empty between our departure and the next arrival. I would not be surprised if during the peak season if they started insisting a Sat-Sat hire charge.

There are also 2 cabins, and based on the income, would not be surprised if some of the secluded tent pitches were converted to the more lucrative cabins. Shame.

The site also suffered from the rains. The fields were either under a inch of rain or very boggy. They are doing some ground draining, but I expect this is expensive. However, there were still lots of children playing about, so I suppose the campers just got on with it.

Bottom line, we will go back. It has been one of the best sites we've been to. You can't blame someone from trying to make a decent earning, and you can't blame the site for the weather.

Stayed here as it is an area we have not visited before. No complaints about the site at all, all the facilities were as described. We intended to do some walking whilst in the area and found the 20 pence leaflets for local walks very useful.
Did not have any kids with us this time but the play area/pool etc were well used and the kids there all looked as though they were having a great time.

The lay out of the site is nice as the tents tend to go for the area under the trees and over the back of the park, we stayed on a hard standing pitch as there had been recent flooding etc.
Handy little shop selling local produce, essentials etc and also kids bats and balls, etc should you need them.
Toilet block cleaned daily, showers free and hot. Separate family/disabled bathroom for a small fee. Recycling actively encouraged. Also do dog sitting service should you need it.
5 minute walk to local bus stop for Crewkerne to Taunton bus route 99, timetable on notice board outside toilet block.
Friendly owners and useful welcome sheet given out on arrival.
Well recommended.

This was an excellent campsite with a clean and efficiently working shower block. On our arrival we were shown to a secluded area amongst the tall trees which offered cover from the rain. It was also good because the children (very polite and not at all disruptive children I might add) were too scared to venture in to the undergrowth to disturb us. It was Richard (I think) who showed us to this area and it was his personal attention and intuitive recommendation that really added to the professional feel of this site.

Our stay (although slightly hampered by the rain) was very enjoyable and I will definitely be coming back  and one day hope to sample the chalets on site.

As you walk in to the shower block there are a number of posters referring to the local wildlife and the importance of their welfare. This was great to see and it was also good to hear a couple of owls at night!

We didn't get to purchase any of the local food produce available but we noticed that local bacon and eggs amongst other things were available. We will try them next time.

Thank-you for a very pleasant nights stay. We used the site as we were visiting a specialist vet on Honiton on Sunday morning, we booked in by email through the week and recieved a prompt reply letting us know a hard standing and hook-up had been reserved for us.
The site is easy to find and access, the welcome was warm and the pitch was lovely and the woodland walk was lovely and cool after a hot day.
We brought our three little dogs with us which were also welcomed.
The people on site were friendly and although there were a lot of children they were all well behaved. The atmosphere in general was relaxed happy (with alot of bbq's ).
The pool looked really inviting but didn't partake due to lack of costume.
We didn't use the facilities but they looked clean and well kept.
This site will certainly stay on our list of sites should we ever need to stay over that way again.Thank -you

I would love to leave this site a bad review so that we could have it to ourselves the next time we visit - however I can not do that. It is absolutely amazing!

The owners (Richard and Helen) can do nothing more to help you with any query or problem you may have and are always friendly, and their dogs (Freddy and Murphy) continue this friendliness.

The site is very clean, water in the showers is not only free but also aways hot!

The Pitches are secluded and very well spaced, and the scenery is breathtaking with lots of walks through the forest.

This is how camping should be and, after staying at other campsites owners should come here for lessons!

Lovely site easy to find very friendly and helpful. Just sorry that the pool didn't open to may as the weather was so nice. My son enjoyed it as he was able to play safely and there were nice walks for the dog, he made a lot of friends which is nice as its sometimes a bit of a problem when its just him and I.

We visited this site last August and, quite honestly, I have nothing negative to say about this beautiful site.  The pitches were all in a pretty woodland area, the owners were fantastically helpful on our arrival, their dogs were gorgeous, and the owl sent me straight to sleep, no problem.  The children loved the play area and trampoline and we found the washing areas perfectly clean and modern.  Easy access to lots of interesting places to visit.  Finally, the most important thing in my eyes, there were absolutely NO ROUDY CAMPERS (a sure sign that the owners have made a point of keeping such campers well at bay and therefore know how to handle problem situations, unlike other campsite managers who can be tempted by profit-making at all costs!).

Returning campers. This site is a must to see and do.!
Only 5 mins drive from Chard for all of your shopping needs inc a Tesco etc. All amenities are all nice, clean and tidy and the showers are always Hot no matter what time of day you take one.

The swimming pool is always warm and clean to a very high standard.!
There are a few nice closeby walks which you should ask Richard about for one of his own walks as it is about 3 hours long and is a nice walk if you like that type of thing.??

There is plenty of colour at the site due to the pretty Rodidendrums that there is a mass of. There is alot for the Kids to stay busy inc trampoline, swings, climbing frame/fort, and basketball net, and also swimming pool ideal if you adults want a peacefull afternoon on your own although an acompanied adult over the age of 18 should always be present.

There is plenty of space for all types if you are a tourer or a tent camper. Plenty of water taps every where and electric hook ups.
What more can one say. So go on try it it is a must to see. And stay 12 out of 10.

This was our 1st time camping and we couldn't of asked for a nicer setting. We had a totally secluded pitch in lovely natural woodland. Showers and toilets were clean and rarely busy, although it was much fun finding them in the dark! The swimming pool was clean and again rarely busy. The shop sold basic things but there was a large Tesco only 2 miles away in chard. We had 2 children aged 14 and 9 who both enjoyed the stay which was a total family orientated week. Lovely place to visit with many lovely seaside towns within a short drive.

This was the first time we have stayed in a woodland setting having previously only stayed in your standard field type environment.

At first it was a little off-putting pitching up without much grass beneath you but everything was fine and a bit of mud here and there was nothing to worry about - just take a small brush with you - it really isn't as bad as you would imagine.

It is a beautiful setting amongst a wood mainly of very tall oak trees and we stayed in a very secluded pitch after the owners accommodated us at very short notice on the August bank holiday weekend. There are roads either side of the park but they are minor ones and didn't cause us any problems.

The owners and their family on site were courteous and friendly to all. The rates were very reasonable and the facilities were first class - showers always hot and clean. The facilities had clearly been set up with the focus very much on quality rather than quantity which did mean there were a few queues in the morning for the showers. Only to be expected though at a peak time and it was worth the wait as they were well designed and clean with constant hot water which can be a problem on other sites at busy times.

In line with some of the other comments, it could get a bit noisy at night but it was full when we stayed on the bank holiday so you have to expect that.

All in all I would thoroughly recommend this one, especially if you have never stayed in a woodland setting before and fancy giving it a go.

Also, look out for the log cabin that's being built in the woods at the back of the park - it looks like its being built to the top standard like the rest of it here and looks fab.
