June 2004 A gorgeous little site, right on the stream with great views, a kamikaze road leading to it, and live entertainment (in the form of the sheep opposite). Only complaint was the noise level from other campers. Would definitely return!

April 1998 This was the first camp site my parents ever took me too. It was amazing - The stream runs alonside the site, and the gentle washing of the water on the rocks makes you chill out and relax just sitting on the bank reading a good book.
Not your sort of camping trip? Ok... Plenty of things to see and do around here. Leave your car near your tent and walk up the lane (be very careful of cars though - This is a single track road) and get the bus into Keswick. This is the local shopping area. Beautiful little town - If you're looking for a chippy, the one opposite the town hall is AMAZING! (I can't remember it's name!)
Want to walk instead of Keswick? Ok... Whilst in the campsite, don't bother walking towards the exit - Follow the river "UPSTREAM" for about 1/2 a mile and you will come to a deep part (WARNING: DO NOT LET YOUNG CHILDREN NEAR THIS), perfect for swimming. It's freezing most of the year, but really refreshing too.
Don't want to go swimming? Carry on following the river for about 2 miles, across the sheep fields and you will come to amazing, if not breathtaking scenery with the mountains and lake in view.
Facilities on site are VERY basic (unless they've changed since I last went there in 1998). There is a toilet block... TAKE A TORCH - NO LIGHTING IN THERE, EVEN OF A DAY TIME! No showers... Use the river / stream to get a wash in. It's so refreshing! There is a tap for drinking water up the hill near to the car exit on the site... Just don't fill your container up too much, otherwise you'll fall down the hill (like I did *lol*)
Apart from that, I love this site so much!Oh, final thought - Stonethwaite is the wettest place in Britain, so TAKE YOUR WATERPROOF CLOTHING!!!!!!!
