We booked this site before travelling and were very glad we had as we arrived to find the site full, probably because of the WW1 centenary. Despite this, we never had to queue for showers and didn't find the push buttons a problem. We used the showers beneath the sports stadium and found them clean and well kept. The area around each pitch was certainly unmown and there were signs indicating that these were wildlife areas. We were on the 'touristic' pitches and found them an adequate size. The 8pm Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate was very moving and it was great to be able to walk into town. There is a supermarket within walking distance of the site so the lack of a site shop was no problem. Wifi is only available in the area around Reception but there are tables and benches here so not a problem (unless it is raining!) The site is only a short hop from Dunkirk so handy for a first night stopover - we stayed for a week and would use this site again. 2 adults and electric pitch was 15 Euros per night.

We pre booked and stayed here for 2 nights as we wanted to go see the Menin Gate Memorial and the Last Post. We stayed for 2 nights and we liked the closeness to the town (which is lovely).
We stayed on the touristic pitches which were bigger then the motorhome pitches and we weren't sure about the automated check in, but having had a good look at it found it to be safe and efficient.
The site itself was clean and tidy but the grass needed a cut.
The toilets under the sports stadium were clean, as were the showers but the fact that the push button was outside the actual shower cubicle (in the bit you get dry and dressed) was a bit of a nuisance, as the water didn't stay on for very long.
We would, however, stop here again

Three nights in Ieper the site is a short walk for the Menem Gate we were able to have a dinner and walk to the gate in time for The Last Post a 2000hrs good standard of facilities clean and modern gated access very bike and walk friendly staff efficient if a little stiff, maybe it a local thing, showers were always piping hot and clean just a bit of a hike from the MoHo areas, the best thing about this site is it's location so convenient for town, the Menem Gate Market Square and walks around the defences, no bar or eatery on site I recommend The Walker bar in town cheapest beer and food I could find in an expensive place, The Flandersfields experience is easley reached from this site by bike or on foot and worth the visit. Child Friendliness only three from ten it is open to the public as it is on route for joggers and members of the public accessing the sports fields

Agree with other posts. Well sited for tourist places and the town & Menin Gate.
Visited 12th-15th April, staying on the touristic pitch.
No wifi working while there.
Lady on reception not particularly helpful, more interested in her computer!
Could do with a couple more toilets and or cleaning/checking more often. Saying that even though site nearly full there wasn't a queue. The toilets adjoining reception are okay but appearance could be better. Toilets under the sports stadium in the Touristic place are nicer.
Showers not powerful at all, shuts off after a minute or so depending on cubicle. When shower stops you have to press the button in the other part of the cubicle! Oh and water temp set you cant adjust.
Noise in a morning from 7am from one of the business units near the entrance.
We stayed on the Touristic pitch as impression of the pictures these looked more spacious and nicer than the camping car section. Weed killing wouldn't go a miss and to be honest next time we would opt for the camping car section, also cheaper.
Great automated check in system for when reception closed.
Regardless of above minor things we would go again all be it staying on the camping car section.

My wife & I wanted to visit the Ypres area and found this campsite on the UKCampsite.co.uk web pages, and booked online. Had no problems finding the site despite the numerous roadworks going on in the area. Took approx. 1 hour 20 minutes from Calais. On arrival, reception was closed but found the automatic check in next door was no problem at all. Pitches are a little cramped for motorhomes (3 to a block. You won't get your awning up if your unfortunate to get a middle pitch!). Slightly more room for caravans. Site itself was reasonably tidy. Toilet / showers / washing up areas etc were not CC or CCC standards but ok. Although right in the middle of an industrial estate, it is well screened with trees and shrubs. Can be a little noisy at times from the factories and adjacent sports stadium, but not too bad, although we were kept awake until around 5am on the Saturday night with some kind of festival going on. Staff were pleasant and helpful enough. Couldn't have been better placed for visiting Ypres town centre and the Menin Gate Memorial. Literally a 10-15 minute walk.
In conclusion, not a bad site, would return if ever visiting the area again.

This is a great site the staff speak English there are no facility's on site other than the well kept shower and toilet block and Leper/Ypres's is a pleasant walk along the old city walls in parkland
The town is fantastic as is the 'In Flanders Field' museum The area is easy to cycle in being flat and cycles take advantage of the give way rules that they have
We were only here for 5 nights but we shall return to see all that we missed in the surrounding area
The pitches have a water, electric and drainage point (if you have a very long length of waste hose)

Our first foreign camping trip as a family so we chose somewhere not too far from home, Ypres / Ieper being about 90 minutes from Calais. We booked online for three nights before we left home, but ended up staying five nights as we liked this tranquil site so much.
The site is on the south-eastern outskirts of town but it's a very pleasant and easy 10-15 minute walk into the main square or the Menin Gate. Coming in the car, it's signposted from the roundabout with the floating tap, if you look quite carefully for the small tent symbol.
We were camping with a tent and so booked onto the tent field, where no cars were allowed, even for unloading. After I'd booked, I read reviews saying how campers' cars had to be left on a country road adjacent to the campsite and I wondered if I should have booked a 'touristic place' which would have allowed us to park adjacent to the tent - but on arrival I was glad I hadn't as the 'touristic places' are very crammed in and much less pastoral-feeling than the lovely green tent field which was never crowded and completely safe for children to play with no danger from cars. The place where you had to leave your car was a small, probably dead-end, lane outside the main gate to the campsite, running up its side, and had a couple of light industrial units on it - it felt perfectly safe to leave our car there and as the site is quite small, it wasn't a worry to have to unload from there and carry equipment in. I really would recommend the tent field for campers over the other more expensive pitches.
The Reception desk is only staffed part time but all staff we had contact with spoke excellent English and were very helpful. They were happy to freeze ice packs on request. If you arrive out of hours you can check in or pay in the automatic check-in machine - not difficult to do if you read the on-screen instructions carefully and continue right through to the end to validate your entry card (if you are hoping to bring a vehicle in though the gate) - easy to miss this last bit which is why I suspect some have had problems with it.
The shower block was at the opposite end of the site to our tent pitch but even so, only a minute's walk - and there was another toilet block in the centre of the site behind Reception. Not huge numbers of toilets or showers but we never had to queue and they were adequately cleaned every morning.
There is free wi-fi around the Reception building but I was saddened to see that it seemed to be mostly British children who could not live without their screens.
To get into town, take the path behind the Reception building. You will pass a fantastic adventure playground and when you hit the river, turn right and cross either the footbridge with the arch above it and go through the tunnel under the ancient Ramparts - or walk up to the second bridge, on the other site of which you will see the Menin Gate. One evening we turned left at the river instead and enjoyed a lovely walk around the southern section of the Ramparts, ending up at an atmospheric restaurant on an island in the river!
Near to the campsite, just behind the playground, is a lovely swimming pool which we used one very hot afternoon - €8 for a family swim seemed excellent value and the children loved all the fun floats available to play with. There is also a beautiful Country Park with walks through wildflower meadows just north of the site. We didn't have bikes with us (or hire them from the campsite, which you can), but the network of bike paths all around the area looked awesome - cycling seemed to be very much the preferred mode of travel for the tent-field campers. You can buy a map of the many local paths from the campsite reception and many people cycle around all the local WW1 battlefields and cemeteries.
There is no food available on site but there is an small Aldi up the hill from the campsite (coming out of the entrance to the site, when you hit the road, turn left up the hill - it's a few minutes walk up, on the right hand side). Or there's a rather better Carrefour in town, opposite the cathedral entrance, but this closes at 7pm. Also saw a Lidl on the ring road to the west of town, but didn't use it.
We really liked the simplicity of this site and found it an absolute bargain at €16 per night for a family of four - would happily recommend it to anyone. Ypres has a lot to offer and it made for a very pleasant trip.

We have stayed at this site several times, and each time some improvements to pitches has been made.
It is a great location to walk into town and also visit the numerous WW1 sites and museums.
For supermarkets Aldi is nearest but the Spar shop is large and keeps a great stock and is within walking distance.
The site is within a short distance of the ferry ports so is in any event a convenient stopping point.
The only downside is the toilet/shower block needs updating but at 15euros per night it is still great value.

This is a great site! It had hard standing for motorhomes with hook up's for €12 per night - fantastic value!
The Motorhome pitches were fairly tight, we couldn't put our fiamma awning out - although some had end pitches with some grass space to spread out on. The showers were free, plenty of hot water and clean. The toilets were also clean and always had paper.
Just around the corner are two great play area's there were also plenty of cycle tracks / running paths.
Just a 10 min walk where you can walk through the ramparts to get to Menin Gate / In Flanders Fields Museum etc.
This is the perfect site for Ypres as it is clean, efficient, and so close to town.
I would highly recommend it and will return as I didn't manage to see nearly enough that Ypres has to offer

This site is ideally situated for visiting the sites of the 1st World War battles of the Ypres Salient. There are tent pitches in their own field, large touring pitches for car and caravan, and motorhome pitches. We stayed on the latter, they are brick surfaced with 3 motorhomes per section, quite close together but if you take an outer one you have grass to the side, middle ones are quite cramped but I think mostly overnighters put on these. The town is an easy 10 minute walk via the Menin Gate, where every evening at 8pm the last post is sounded and the road closed, the ceremony is very moving and brought a tear to my eyes. In the town square is the 'In Flanders Fields' museum, also very moving. Here you can buy a cycle map of the main cemetery's from the time, anything from 7 to 40 k, but mostly flat, I think they also sell a car tour map.
The site is adequate, 3 showers per sex but although busy while we were there we never had to queue. It is also very reasonable, we paid 12 euros per night fully inclusive of EHU showers etc, a 4 euro refundable deposit for the barrier entry card. All in all well worth a visit.
