We chose this site for it's proximity to Dunquerke ferry about an hours drive.
Caravans and motorhomes are parked in two rows facing each other with a decent gap between each unit.
The facilities on site are adequate and it looked like there might be some upgrade due to an athletics complex adjacent.
There is an Aldi store about ten minutes walk away and a Lidl slightly further away.
It is a short walk into Ypres which is an interesting town totally flattened during the Great War and completely rebuilt.
We visited the ceremony at the Menen Gate twice very moving especially when a lone piper appeared and played Abide With Me not a dry eye in the house.
We cycled to the cemetery at Tyne Cot, cycling is a real pleasure with dedicated cycle lanes and very flat terrain.

Ideally situated to visit Ypres attractions, only ten minutes walk, mostly off road, from the Menin Gate. The Flanders Field Museum in the cloth Hall is a must.
A big, big drawback of the site though is the lack of access for cars on the site. I was allowed 5 minutes to offload my gear then had to park in the road alongside the site.
The whole of the visit was spoiled by the thought of having to cart all our gear 100 yards to the car at the end. The fact that there were car parking spots for at least 5 cars permanently available for the whole of our stay and another which was occupied by a BOAT did not help.
At least we were not dependant on the car battery to run a pump to inflate the air-bed as some were, necessitating carrying an inflated air-bed, would not want to do that on a windy day.
Would visit again because of its situation but would use a lightweight tent and travel light.

The site is easily found because of the distinctive 'tap' on the nearby roundabout, Unfortunately, the actual street to the entrance has only one camping sign and that is inside the street!
The site has a lifting arm gate and is only actually open for limited hours each day. It closed at 1800 when I was there and every evening, camper vans turned up and had to go away.
The camper van pitches are block paving, but the caravan and tent pitches are grass.
This is Flanders, famous for its mud and I saw a number of caravans spraying mud and grass everywhere when trying to get off their pitches.
Everything was clean and tidy, particularly the toilet blocks, but again, walking to the lower one from the campervan pitch, I had to either duck under or walk around another gate arm. This meant walking on the mud.
The site is near the Menin gate and the railway and could not be better from the point of view of visiting the town.
I hired a bike here (10 Euros)and found cycling in Flanders very pleasant.
I hope they can sort out what are very small niggles because I liked this site and will go back, but they must keep the office and therefore entry for new arrivals open much later than they do. Tenters could probably get their gear in, but there is not any 'legal' parking outside for campervans or caravans. (You could chance it as its very quiet and I never saw a Traffic Warden or Police)

We stayed on this site for 5 nights over the August bank holiday.
We used a sat nav - and found the site very easily (although our friend had driven to Ieper before, and was able to give us directions too)
On arrival we were told we could pitch our tents wherever we liked, but we could not use the 'touristic pitches' although there were spaces, we were informed that these had been reserved. We had booked up a few months in advance, but the lady in reception said we hadn't booked a touristic pitch.
The tent field is situated on the right hand side of the site, just over the road from some factories. There is a small car park for you to unload all your equipment - but no way of getting your car on to the field where the tents are pitched. This was a particular problem for us, as it started raining really hard when we arrived, and had no other option than to cart all our stuff up the hill to our pitch, getting ourselves and all our equipment soaked in the process.
This is a minor point - but it is one worth considering, as other families with less luggage seemed to spend far less time carrying bags backwards and forwards from their cars than we did!
There are 2 toilet blocks. One is situated round the back of the reception area, with the other being down the bottom of the site with all the showers and washing up facilities.
The hot water was very hot! Just remember to take a washing up bowl, as there was no plugs for any of the sinks. The toilets and shower areas were always clean, and there was never much of a queue. Reception offer a free 'icepack' service.
The proximity of the town is good, with quite a few bars and restaurants to visit. We even managed to drive to Brugge for a day.
The site has a play park nearby, which our kids visited from breakfast through to bedtime.
Apart from the noise of the factory, once that stopped, the site was very quiet.
Most people staying on the site seemed to only stop for one or two nights before moving on. I can imagine this would be a good site to visit before venturing further into Europe.
Overall I would say this is an ideal site for people with either a Motorhome or Caravan. If you are planning to visit with a large tent, then try to book a 'Touristic' pitch, as you will at least have your car parked next to you, not offsite and halfway down the road.

This site had just opened a few weeks earlier and still looked very fresh after its extensive new landscaping. There was lots of new planting which should be very attractive once given a few years to mature. Each pitch had 2 rubber strips on which to reverse the caravan, this could have been quite tricky without a motor mover. As these were newly laid, people who were using tents just rolled them up and relayed them before they left. Fully serviced pitches were unexpected but much appreciated.
There were teething problems as a result of the site being so new, the worst of which was the barriers not unlocking! As we had a long journey ahead, we were ready to leave at 6.45am but were stuck at the first barrier until the handyman arrived at 8am to sort the problem out. Very frustrating.
This site had an excellent location. Small supermarket 5 minutes walk up the road. 10 minute beautiful walk across meadows into the centre of town. Great location for visiting many WW1 sites (the reason for our visit). Don’t miss the Last Post which is played every night at 8pm by the Menin Gates. It’s very moving and can be heard from the camp site on a still evening.
It should have been easy to find as it is just off the ring road but our sat nav took us down a single track road and over a very bumpy level crossing just half a mile from the site – I suggest you print off a local map if you are towing a caravan.

Our second visit to this site in 2 years. It re opened a couple of days prior to our arrival so had teething problems. It has been upgraded. Some good points and some unfortunate ones. The site is now modernised as far as services to the new pitches are concerned. They are clean & tidy with each pitch well serviced.
Unfortunately, the pitches have been made a bit narrow especially access wise. If you have a campervan take some levelling blocks. If you have a caravan over 16 ft ask not to be put on the pitches in the number 20s as you will have a dire time trying to get onto the pitch (we enlisted the assistance of some German men who were working there to get our van settled onto the pitch) Tell them before you book if you have a large caravan.
Also they have laid plastic tyre tracks on the grassy pitches (Appeared to be an emergency attempt to provide some sort of base for caravans) so you have to be really good at reversing to get your wheels onto the tracks or you may get bogged down if it's wet (The boggy problem only came to light when the place re opened a few days before we arrived.)
For vans over 16ft a mover is essential as there is little or no space to turn the van. All in all the improvements are pleasing but the snags will have to be sorted to make the pitches accessible to large vans.

A great site and reasonably priced considering it was the only one. Signposting is a real problem for the visitor who does not wish to get lost with a caravan in tow so get a map before you set off.The staff were very helpful. The facilities although not plush were more than adequate and well serviced. A very welcoming atmosphere and we left with every intention of returning soon. We expect that the prices may rise in 2010 when the refurbishments are completed.

4.5 euros per night for me in my tent. I arrived at the site after more or less following the map from their website, then spotted the beloved 'camping' sign :-)
Site is small with a grassy area for tents, no pitches laid out but room for all. I would think big tents may find space hard to find though. There's no way 50 tents could pitch there though!
Friendly staff and good shower block/loos with plenty hot water and even the heating was on! (in july. And 30 deg temp)
Very easy and pleasant walk into Ypres, and great location for WW1 site visits. I stayed for 2 nights. Well recommended for the traveller.

This is a good, basic site. No frills like bars or cafes on site but plenty in the town itself which is a short walk away. There is also an Aldi just a few hundred yards away - but they close at 6.30pm.
Caravans and tents kept apart and no delineated pitches for the tents. All tents were told to pitch in the area in front of reception when we were there which was easy to pitch in and not too far from the loos, etc. However, there is a large factory of some sort on the other side of the main road which runs air-conditioning up to 11.30 at night and starts again at 6.00am. This didn't bother my OH and didn't bother me until I was trying to sleep and the rest of the site was silent. The other couple of areas for tents would probably not have this issue.
All caravan/camper pitches had hook-ups but if you are in a tent, you will have to specify that you need a hook-up and you will presumably be sited closer to one than we were. (Okay, I admit I forgot to pay more attention re this ,as we don't use EHU. However, I do know that the large area we and the other tents were in didn't have power hook-ups)
Things to do locally? WW1 sites are a must, as is the museum in the old Cloth Hall. Otherwise, just wander the streets and marvel at how it looks now when compared to the photos of how it was left after 1918.
Be aware that this site is not opening until JULY in 2010 season.

Great litle site as others have mentioned. Very close to town centre, ideal for visiting the Menin Gate and you have to go to Tyne Cot Cemetary only a few miles away. Great value for money site with clean showers and facilities, pitches are semi hardstanding so fab for motorhome. But it is a bit hard to find, our sat nav got us close and luckily most people in the area seem to speak english so found it after a bit of trouble. Receptionist very helpful and they provide free wi-fi too
