A nice site in a lovely area. Didn't realise the railway line was that close as it was just behind the caravan, but as we were out most days it didn't really affect us only at night time!.
The site itself was very tidy with good pitches and space for caravans and awnings. Our first week there was before the local schools broke up so we had lots of space to play ball games on the rest of the site. However the following week when all the tents arrived this was a different matter. The tent were very close together and some had no space for their cars and had to park in the top car park.
The facilities were ok. They had put two new toilets in over the winter and they helped but there were still long queues when the site was full. The problem is the two showers are in the same room as the toilets so when showers were in full use in the morning and evening this resulted in the queues.
The owner was very nice and helpful with good local knowledge.

Site is well situated and on the day we arrived apart from the occasional train, very peaceful. However the peace was shattered the following day due to a family who arrived with their tent and who really to be honest spoilt it for everyone. If it wasn't for the lovely couple we met whilst staying here, we would have moved on. Obviously the owners of the site can't help who books into their site, but I do feel that this family should have been kicked off the site.

Well this is the second time we have been to Rushcroft Farm.
It is a great base to see the New Forest from and the surrounding coast.
As it is a small site there is not a lot on the site but for our family of four it only cost £15 for a night which I thought was extremely good value. There is a covered washing up area with hot and cold water, a couple of toilets with hot water and thank goodness toilet rolls, showers which cost 20p. All spotless and cleaned every day so no smelly urinals. Apparently there are plans for two more toilets so the owner said. Although it is fairly well tucked away there is a good shop and a post office in Sway within walking distance.
It has been refurbished since our last visit with all the caravan pitches converted into doubles with new shingle and borders and levelled off which was ideal as it did rain while we were there. So our awning kept quite dry on the inside floor which I was a bit worried about before.
As there are only about 5 or 6 hard pitches it never got crowded or felt cramped like some sites we have been to in the New Forest and they don't mix tents with caravans which means no-one encroaches onto your space.
I loved the clear nights there without lots of ambient light which meant you could actually see the stars in all their glory.
We would definitely come back to Rushcroft Farm again, it is a lovely site, in a beautiful location, peaceful and quiet and well looked after.

The biggest let down of this site is the washing/toilet facilities. There are 2 tiny cubicles in which they have crammed a sink, toilet and a shower. The whole cubicle was usually wet and dirty so was best to not try and get changed after a shower. This made for an interesting dash back to the tent wearing just a towel! And of course you have to pay for the shower - 20p for 3 minutes. There is no toilet paper supplied which may account for the mess that was often smeared on/around the toilet. Or that may have been due to some people struggling to fit themselves in the gap where the toilet was crammed - between the shower cubicle and the wall. Soap was supplied but had been watered down! With a full site, as there was when we were there, the queues for the toilets were long. This was made worse by one shower breaking down a few times - although to the owners' credit, was fixed same day.
The washing up facilities were good with free hot water and a big space to move around in. It was outside after all. There is also a fridge/freezer, again free of charge, located in between the 2 toilet cubicles which was used mainly for freezer packs.
The pitches were fairly generous and more than adequate for a family tent or small caravan with a vehicle. Only some of the pitches had an electricity hookup, these being the ones for caravans. Whilst we were there, the bottom of the field was a little bit boggy and 2 or 3 pitches were not in use because the ground was too soft and waterlogged. The field was generally well maintained though.
The location of the site is good although you would need to venture further afield at some point if you intend to stay for more than 2 days as Sway has little to offer to last more than 2 days. The site is fairly good for kids apart from maybe the barbed wire perimeter fence.
And finally the price. As it was 'peak' season, we paid £13 a night for our tent. This is about £5 too much considering the poor (small, dirty and unreliable) facilities, the lack of free toilet paper and the watered down soap. I've stayed on many other sites for less which have had better facilities and provide the 'basics' such as proper soap and toilet paper. So are we paying this premium for its location? Maybe, as New Forest is popular but that is no excuse to cut corners.
Overall I think you may enjoy this site if you have a caravan and can use your own washing/toilet facilities as the location is pretty good for going off exploring. I don't know how much they charge for a caravan though. I would not recommend this site for tents unless you really need to be in the New Forest and don't fancy paying more for another site. If you're just looking for somewhere to go camping and price is the key factor then you're better off looking elsewhere or coming here off peak season.

First off all this campsite is in a great location, I have just got back from 9 days on this site and had a great time, you can get all round the New Forest from this location and it is also very handy for the beach at Bournemouth which we spent a few days at watching the air show.
It is easy to find just head for the train station at Sway and follow the road down the side of the station and your there.
The site is in a lovely location with the odd deer to be seen in the fields around the site if you are lucky.
The train track runs down the side of the site but this did not bother me at all.
There is an area to wash your pots and for drinking water.
Now to the only part of the site which I feel could be improved. The toilets
The toilets are very clean and the showers are super (20p for 3 minutes) but there are only two and the showers are in with the toilets, which can make for a lot of waiting to go toilet because people are having showers. A separate toilet would make this site for me 9 out of 10.
There are 20 pitches on the site and if you have a tent I recommend you ask for pitches 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 we had pitch 6 which was very muddy and never got the sun on it because of the trees. The pitches above were all very dry and had the sun on them all afternoon and evening.
Back at the top of the road are two shops and a pub where you can get everything you may need.
Would I go back? Yes I would so I recommend this site to you all.

Stayed at this wonderfully quaint campsite in early august and couldn't have wished for a better stay. Small site at the rear of a working farm with full electric pitches and 2 shower rooms including toilets. Railway line very close but didn't really put us off. Excellent base to explore new forest on our bikes, also only 5 miles from coast, barton on sea - milford on sea coastal bike path well worth the experience. Fab pub called the hare & hounds 3/4 mile away serves great food in a really relaxed atmosphere. All in All highly recommended site and for £15 a night all inclusive well worth a return visit. P.S.If like us you are using sat-nav to locate site you will find out it takes you to front entrance of farm only to be re-directed to rear entrance opposite post office down past Sway railway station.

I spent two nights at this campsite in July, it is a very small and personal campsite, there were about 20 pitches in total, a mixture of tents and caravans. You pitch where you are told to. There are two toilets which each have a shower in. The showers cost 20p for 3 minutes and you have to provide your own toilet paper. I think we paid £13 per night for two of us and a small tent, we do feel that maybe toilet paper could have been included in that price though! There is a small outside washing up area, it has a small cover so you don't get wet if it rains. Again, very basic but very pleasant campsite. It is right next to the railway line, but the trains did not wake us up. Otherwise, a very nice place to camp for a few nights.

We had a great weekend at this site, it is small and basic but that is not a bad thing. There are 2 showers and toilet which if the site was full could be an problem but as there was just us and 1 van we had no problems. There are some lovely walks near by and local shop at the top of the road. The trains that run passed the site are not to bad unless like on the sunday morning they stop at the side of the site to do some work. The site owner was very friendly and helpful and the area is stunning.

We have just returned from Rushcroft Farm and will be going back without doubt.
Its a smallish site of about an acre tucked away from the village yet within a short walk of local shops and 2 pub's.
The site is next to a railway line but it is an electric line (so quietish anyway) and the trains are few and far between with almost none after 11pm.
The site is well arranged giving good size pitches, some with power if needed. There is a covered area for washing your pots and plates and a small toilet block with 2 separate rooms both with a wc, wash basin and a shower which takes 20 pence's so take some change and don't get caught like us and load the meter you will find that 40p is more than enough.
The site is run by a great guy who is very helpful and friendly and keeps the site very tidy and smart. All in all a great time and would recommend it to all that want to get away from the crowds.
