Have just spent a week here and found the site is well located for touring the surrounding area, with some good pubs and restaurants within driving and walking distance, particularly

The George in Cley. The site itself is very clean, with the only criticism being the lack of toilet facilities. There is

Only one male and one female toilet and when the site had eight

Caravans and ten tents camping, this resulted in queues at times. But to be fair they were still kept spotlessly clean.

Not what we expected as we had booked it understanding that it was a small 5 site plus up to 10 tents. However when we arrived I counted at least 35 units of tents motorhomes and caravans. There was also a tent occupying our pitch. The owner did move the tent and we were able to pitch up. However the facilities were stretched with the amount of people on the site. A few days later the site quietened down and the showers and toilets were easier to use. I would not return here as I thought we had booked a small site and it was not. If you are looking to book a small site then be warned the main site takes up to around 30 units 12 on electric hook up the rest tents then a field before the main which can take up to 5 further tents although at one point during our stay a motor home was on that too with a hook up organised! Sorry but would not return here.

We stayed here for one night, a Friday, we'd have liked to stay the Saturday but left it late to book and the owner said they were full for sat, however it seemed this was because he insisted on allowing large pitch spaces, so it never seemed crowded.

It is really well located for peace and quiet, and was a very peaceful campsite. We were just a couple, I don't think it would be very well suited to families.

Owner showed us our pitch, although after that we didn't see him at all.

The facilities were clean and reasonably modern. Whilst they are limited I never had to wait and the site was pretty full at that time.

Overall, it was a nice peaceful site, clean and spacious, but nothing incredible or outstanding.

When we arrived the owner was cleaning up the small area on the way in, he said there had been a party group in for the weekend, there was mattress's, sleeping bags, beer cans and rubbish ! Told us what pitch we were on, and can you paid now cos site full and most have not paid. He said it is a bit full at the moment but most leaving today, no one left but more arrived. When we got to the pitch and started to set up he then came to tell us to move, he had over booked. The site says 5 vans and tents, there is 5 hard standing on one side and over the other side was 5 caravan/motor homes and 8 tents when we visted. Dogs not on leads doing their business all over and not been picked up, kids having games of cricket or rounders in the middle, balls hitting vans. One toilet ladies/gents with two showers for the number of people. Before our visit her we had been on caravan club CL site paying £12 or £15 per night and excellent sites, this site is £21. This is reason we have not renewed our Caravan and camping membership! Poor standards on sites.

A very enjoyable Easter weekend. A very helpful and friendly owner. Very good and clean facilities. Only one toilet and two showers for the ladies which does not sound very much, however I was never left waiting. A small and ideally located campsite for a peaceful weekend away. I would certainly recommend this site, but perhaps not for families.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay over Easter and think this review may offer some insight for future campers. The site has 5 spacious hard standings as it says in the CCC Certified Site description plus one grass pitch, all with electric hook-ups, on the side with the facilities block but on the opposite side of the field there are numerous grass pitches – over Easter there were approximately 20 units comprising caravans / motorhomes / ents on site in total and consequently toilet / shower facilities were over-stretched and queuing inevitable. The sandy soil is light and drains well and all pitches have ample space between them. The centre of the field is used by children / families for ball games etc. At present there aren't any good hedges around the perimeter to offer shelter from the very cold, biting wind that was present while we were there so it felt quite exposed, but the site is fairly new and so this may yet be remedied.

Likewise the unreachable, un-signposted Dog Walk at the far end of the field which we only found out about on our fourth morning from someone on site! The clearing of the 50ft deep border of bushes and dense brambles in front of the access to the Dog Walk had begun but without being armed with a machete and dragging your dogs through the prickly brambles (which they were very reluctant to do) it was inaccessible to all but the very brave! We couldn't help commenting that a couple of hours with a strimmer before the very busy Easter weekend would have cleared a small access path - and as the charge is £1. 50 per dog, per night (and we have 3 so paid £4. 50 each night) for absolutely nothing, we were a bit miffed and were left wondering why there was a charge at all! Not good value for money and not very fair as the CCC do not charge for dogs but always offer the basic facilities of a respectable Dog Walk with waste bin. Because of the inaccessibility of the Dog Walk, owners were allowing dogs to relieve themselves in front of this brambly area where we were camped! – and sadly, not everyone cleared up as one of our party found to his cost when he trod it into his vehicle!

The facilities block has one WC and two spacious showers in the Ladies and likewise the Gents plus a Disabled room with WC only (no disabled shower facilities). Because the site was busy the ever-dwindling loo rolls in both Ladies & Gents had completely run out by our fourth evening and no one from management was around to deal with this – or with the over-flowing dustbins, where the Bank Holiday weekend’s rubbish was piled all around!

On arrival it took us three visits to Reception before we found anyone to pay the balance for our pitch and the man apologised saying they were very busy getting their Barn ready for its Easter guests – and we never saw the owner again throughout our stay. We weren't given any paperwork – no receipt for our payment, no information sheet about facilities on site, emergency doctors etc, or places to visit in the area. And on the last morning when we left we could find no motorhome waste water disposal point anywhere either.

All in all a new, quite expensive site that wasn't ready for the influx of guests that had been booked in and not one we will be revisiting or recommending to our camping friends.

We were booked in at this site for 2 nights in February but left after 1 night due to very windy weather.

Yes the site has 5 decent size hard standing pitches but to get to those pitches you have to drive on the grass. After a very wet winter, trying to actually get to your pitch was easier said than done!

The facilities we thought were a bit lacking, only 1 toilet and 2 showers in both the ladies and gents. Fine when we were there as there was only 1 other caravan on site but I would imagine when the site is full that this is not enough. Having said that, the facilities were clean.

As mentioned in previous reviews, we were not given any information about the site on arrival and until I just read another review on this website, was not even aware of the dog walk area.

The site is just outside the lovely village of Cley and the beach is within walking distance which was nice for the dog.

Very expensive we thought especially for the time of year we visited, can't remember exactly but think it was about £44 or £45 for 2 adults and a dog.

Don't think we are likely to revisit this site.

Very lovely and relaxing site. Our first trip out in our new motorhome. Lovely owners, very helpful. Simple site so if you are looking for a quiet site with views over the fields at sunset and sunrise then this is the site for you. There are no arcades or loud music. Toilet and shower block very clean. Hot water. Good washing up facility if you were in a tent. Walk to town is 10-15 minutes to cley but wiveton is close and the pub in wiveton is lovely. As novice motor homers we didn't have levelling chocks. You do need them on this site so come prepared. A lovely site which we will visit again.

Just had a very good 10 night stay at Rectory Hill. The owners were very friendly, helpful and pleasant. Any issues were dealt with immediately.

The toilets/showers are cleaned regularly. There is only one toilet for men, one for women and a separate disabled loo, but even when the site was full, I only had to queue for the ladies twice. I never had to wait for a shower, not dd my husband and son. There was always soap at the basins and usually paper towel for drying hands. There as plenty of room in the showers, and a chair in each, plus hooks for clothes/towel.

Some tent pitches have hook-up but there were no EHU pitches left when I booked in May, so if you need it, book early!

There is no play area but there is room for kids to play - the site speed limit is 5mph so if people stick to it, kids are safe. The camping area is also well away from the road.

The site is very peaceful and in a great location for exploring North Norfolk, with lots of nature and bird reserves in the area, beaches, pretty villages and market towns, good walking area. Cley beach is a shingle beach but we enjoyed an afternoon there and there is some sand when the tide is out.

The on-site shop was not open while we were staying, but Charles got bacon and eggs for us when we asked for them - the site isn't really big enough for a shop to be cost-effective. The deli in Cley is expensive, but sells milk and locally-made bread at fairly standard prices for the area. There is a Spar shop in Blakeney and a Budgens in Holt - Holt has lots of shops, including butchers, fruiterers. Wells-next-the Sea has a good butchers, bakers and deli.

The 3 Swallows pub in Cley is very good - friendly staff and a lovely big beer garden. Food was good too.

All-in-all we had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

I've just returned from a 2 night stay at the Rectory Hill campsite.

I have to say that I really enjoyed my stay, the site is quite small and the owner very friendly.

Because of the location of the site, there is hardly any road noise and kids are safe run around the whole area.

The shower facilities again are quite compact but more than adequate for the small number of people on site at any time.

The local area is stunning and scenery is amazing. I would advise a trip into Cley village and Blakeney just 1 mile don the road.

Overall I would recommend a stay at the Rectory Hill campsite, Just confirm the overnight price on booking.
