Great site in a great location.
Just arrived back from a four night stay at Rectory Hill Barns campsite.
The site is brilliant. It is flat and very quiet and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The shower blocks were always clean. The site owner was very friendly and popped up and down the site to attend to the toilets and washing up area but he was never in your face.
Cley next the Sea is a lovely village and one very close to my heart as my mum was born there, my parents were married there, I was christened there and my grandparents are buried there.
The Three Swallows is a lovely pub and serves great food and Picnic Fayre deli provides a vast range of delicious products.
The beach at Cley is mostly shingle owning to the flood defences but well worth a visit. It is very quiet and great for a walk.
Wells next the Sea, Sheringham and Cromer are all close.

We stayed at this lovely little site for two nights at the end of June 2013 and would happily return.
There are lots of pretty villages/walks in the local area - the site was popular with walkers and dog owners. There are also two local pubs within easy reach.
As previous reviewers have mentioned, the owner was very helpful - he rang and responded to my booking enquiry and gave directions to the site etc. He also checked how we were during our stay and helped with our queries about the local area etc.
The site is very small and peaceful, with lovely views across fields.
For those of you who like to keep in touch, note that mobile reception is limited and there is no 3G/WiFi.
There is a new shower block (it would be helpful to have a couple of shelves in the ladies loo and in each of the showers). A deep clean of the facilities would help to ensure they remain in tip top condition.
A small a laundry room next to the shower block doubles up as an information point (local leaflets and travel information). There is also a small on site shop selling eggs and essentials.
The washing up area has two sinks and was clean & tidy at all times.
Picnic benches were dotted around the site(we used one for the duration of our stay) - there are not enough benches for one per pitch, unsure if this would be an issue during peak season).
We have an electric coolbox (unfortunately all EH were taken when we stayed), and it would have been good to have either a fridge or freezer on-site for those without electric (we were there for two very hot days and keeping food cool was a problem). A small fridge/freezer could be sited in the laundry room if the washer/dryer were put on top of each other. The owner did freeze our ice packs for a small charge but access to a fridge/freezer would be preferable.
The pitches are a little uneven/bumpy, there is no shelter/cover for the grass pitches - but these are not a major concern.
All in all a very pleasant stay, we look forward to returning!

Just returned from a very enjoyable week at Rectory Hill campsite. Very attentive owners and facilities all kept clean and ample for the amount of people staying there.
Not many pitches which made it very friendly ; 5 hard standings with EHU and water taps. Grass only pitches as well opposite the hard standing. Lovely evenings sat watching the herons land in the trees opposite, and we saw hares and barn owls.
About a 20 minute walk into Cley with Deli and shops and bus stop for the Coasthopper to get to Cromer in one direction and Wells in the other. Lovely sandy beaches all along this coast with many very good pubs.
Pubs in walking distance of campsite as well were excellent.
A longer walk into Holt but a lovely town - Norfolk people very friendly - a lovely lady stopped and gave us a lift back from Holt even though we had a dog!
Highly recommend the area and particularly the camp site.

The owner of the site was very friendly, he checked up on us each day. If he was going to the shops he would check if we needed anything. He was very helpful on information on what's around. To eat and what to do.
The campsite was lovely and clean, toilet block was always spotless. Each camper had a nice and large plot that fitted are 4 man tent with large porch on the front in and are car into. There was still loads of room for more.
In sept it was my partners birthday, he choose to go there with all are family and friends. There was 15 of us.
We have stayed there 3 times now, and have recommended it to people and will keep going. (We've been in May, July and Sept)

Very nice site with excellent facilities. Agree about levelling ramps but pitches well sized and addition of water taps very welcome. Washrooms amazing and washing up facility very good
Owners very attentive and checked facilities regularly
Nice view over the fields-saw pheasants out there and heard a Tawny owl each night
We enjoyed the walks along the coast paths and seeing the local birdlife. Excellent Cley Spy centre for Wetlands trust
Pleasant trip to the West Cottage cafe where we sampled hot Clay smoked mackerel and Stilton Ploughman's followed by warm apple cake-very good
We will return

We were looking for a quiet, clean, pleasantly situated campsite for two or three nights between Christmas and New Year. That is not always easy to find at this time of the year. Rectory Hill suited our needs perfectly.
The owner was attentive, seemingly to everyone's needs. The five hard standings were of a good size and fairly level. I would still advise taking levelling ramps. All five had EHU. There was a large grassed area for tents, or those not requiring hardstanding. The facilities were immaculate. Personally, I was not keen on the notices advising campers on the 'cost' of paper towels etc. To be found in the toilets, it seemed rather school-like. Also I do agree with a previous reviewer who mentioned the access to the hard standings being just of grass. As an 'open all year' site this could cause problems during wet weather.
The surrounding area was very nice with lovely walks down to the sea. The pub closest to the site (Three Swallows) was cosy and friendly. We arrived too late for food but what we saw looked good. The deli shop in the village was amazing.
Considering the site is in its first year the owners have done a good job overall. We would certainly use the site again.

We have just spent Christmas at this site along with my parents in their motorhome. It's a lovely site in a perfect location for walking the coast path and exploring the surrounding villages. The toilet/shower block is nice and modern and clean ( although we never saw a soul go in to check or clean in the five days we stayed and the mop bucket had the same water in the end of our stay ). Also it would of been nice if the heating had been left on all the time as it was very cold in there at times. The washing up area was also turned off and drained down so of no use to anyone ( people next door had to do theirs in the toilet basins ) we used our own. As dog owners we always clean up after our dog but it appears there maybe a dog owner that doesn't ( no one else staying had any dogs ) as most mornings on our walk out of the site there were piles of the stuff ( my father stepped out of his van when we arrived straight into a pile of the stuff then without realising walked it through his van into all the carpets, so first job before setting up was to clean all the carpets of dog mess. Hardstanding spaces are very well spaced between pitches and are laid to gravel/stones it would have been nice to have the road extend to the pitches as after rain can get a bit muddy/boggy this might be something the owner is doing in the future as its only the first year. I know I might sound critical but it's still a lovely site to which we will return

We stayed on this excellent new little site in mid-November and, apart from one or two hiccups with the electrics and water, couldn't fault it. The owner was usually on hand to sort things out and was very helpful in directing us to the best dog walking areas.
The new shower/toilet block is excellent although watch out for the lights going out when you are half way through your showers as they work on a motion-sensor device. The dishwashing facility is outside and the owner had some misgivings about leaving it on during a cold spell, but I am sure he will get this sorted out. Faultlessly clean and warm, though.
The five hard standings are good and each has a shared electric post and water tap. Our 6-metre van fitted on perfectly but don't try to park sideways on to the pitch as you may damage the surrounding wooden battens on three sides.
The site proved perfect for visiting the lovely nearby town of Holt, which has one of the best shops in Britain, in Bakers and Larners. They sell everything and the food hall is superb. We also found it ideal for visiting Titchwell RSPB bird sanctuary, Wells, Holkham, Morston Quay and, of course, Cley, which is just down the road from the site and easily walkable. We also visited Cromer, which has a lovely little pier complete with its own theatre, and Sheringham.
Excellent site and I am sure we will be back.

Just got back from a wonderful week at this beautiful site.
This was our first camping holiday together as a family and with a fourteen month old little girl, it was made very easy by the fantastic facilities.
The owner was extremely helpful and very friendly and his presence around the site on a regular basis was very helpful for any queries, advice etc.
The toilet and shower facilities were excellent, very clean and spacious. There were two large wet room type shower cubicles in the ladies and the same in the men's (I think!) which are perfect for showering with kids. The campsite was full most days and I didn't once have to queue for the shower. There is one toilet in the ladies but a separate disabled toilet meant that once again I never had to queue.
There is a washer and a dryer and facilities to charge mobiles etc, all for a small charge. There are two sinks for washing up and once again they were never busy.
The owner is keen to recycle and there are separate bins for glass/ plastics and paper.
There are marked out pitches so you can't just pitch where you want so there is adequate space and most have EHU. It is a very quiet site and children can play quite happily and safely.
The area is fantastic, with pubs serving good food and shops within walking distance. There is fabulous deli in the village along with a pottery.
Thanks very much for a fab week, we will be back!

A little gem of a CL just a couple of miles from Cley Next the Sea. Hardstanding pitches all with ehu. Brand new toilet and shower block - owner advised has had hot water temperature reduced.
Chem disposal and outside washing up area with food bin (they are new and are listening to what the customer says).
The village is lovely with a pub and a couple of cafes. The most wonderful deli sells cakes, meats etc and home made ice cream.
Really liked the site and the owner who was very friendly and helpful. We paid £18 per night for 2 adults with ehu - certainly not cheap but to be fair one of the best CL's we saw on the coast.
Would highly recommend and will use again.
