Really lovely campsite in the most beautiful location.
Basic facilities but you don’t need anything more for a weekend away! Highly recommend for a few nights away.
Thor’s cave just round the corner which is rather spectacular!

Fantastic location, beautifully quiet, located in the picturesque Manifold Valley.
Carole is a great host. Facilities are simple; toilet, drinking water and a washing up sink in case you haven’t brought your own bowl. Bring a torch.
Stayed on the bank holiday weekend, lots of families and a couple of more serious walker types. Lots of room,
A stones throw from the Wetton Mill cafe for cups of tea and nice cake whilst you paddle and the Manifold Inn does a great Sunday lunch and has a good beer selection, 3 mile walk or cycle.

Overall great campsite and perfect location. I like that you can just turn up and pick your own space(that is if you early enough), unfortunately that also means people take advantage and take 1/4 of the field for themselves, there is always that kind of person who ruins it for everybody else, there were people that arrived later on had to take sunniest spot across the field as there was nothing else available in the shade.
I also was not impressed by the facilities, as there was only one ladies toilet and no showers. Luckily I only stood in a queue about four times as I tried to avoid peak times, you can imagine everyone trying to clean up in the morning and brush teeth.
I gave this campsite 7 out of 10 for the reasons listed above, as I am still happy with the location and we actually got a good spot at the site.

Nipped in to see this site as I was walking the Manifold Way.
What an amazing location, literally just off the trail, so ideal for cyclists and walkers, but also accessible down some narrow lanes for those in cars of course, but bear in mind the lanes are narrow and windy! They can accept small campervans, bearing in mind access is tight on the surrounding lanes
Just up the trail from the campsite is Thors Cave - walk the other way about 3 1/2 miles and you'll come to the Manifold Trail Visitor Centre which is based in the former ticket office of the Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway. There's also the The Manifold Inn which does nice food but don't drink too much, it's a long walk back to the site!
At the bottom of the site is the Manifold river which burbles and bubbles along and is gorgeous. Next to the site is the Wetton Mill tearooms which do nice snacks and drinks
The site is gently sloping but levels out at the bottom nearest the river, so should be fine to get a nice flat pitch.
Didn't use the facilities I'm afraid, so unable to say what they are like, but they are based in a "portable cabin" type building at the top of the campsite.
Once the tearooms are shut it's extremely quiet here, with no light pollution, you really feel miles away from civilisation, fab, just make sure you take all the supplies you need (although you could use the tearooms for an emergency food topup!)
Proper back to basics old school camping!

Well what can I say about this beautiful place. My family and I loved every second of it. We were the only campers on the site plus the sheep and the chickens that popped over for a visit and we loved it.
It took us a while to find it as it was dark and the camping sign had blown off the post. Carole was absolutely lovely and came over to see us on the Saturday evening to see how we were.
Perfect place to base yourself for cycling and walking. Make sure you take cash though, most of the tea rooms don't except card payments, we learnt this the hard way.
