This is a very pretty caravan club site that has immaculate spacious level pitches. It has one main toilet block and a small adjoining one which both are very clean. The country park has many walks, a dry toboggan run, cafes, play area and a very long beach that doesn't allow dogs.
The downside of this site is the low flying aircraft from the nearby RAF base. The caravan club booklet does mention that "there maybe aircraft noise at times", but this takes place Monday to Friday between 8am to 5pm and can be very loud and annoying. Incidently, we live nearby an airport and a different RAF base and never experience this volume!

Just got back from Pembrey, what a great site! Would go back there again. Make sure you have a good external tv aeriel as reception is poor. Apart from overhead aircraft noise (jets etc) during the week everything else was great! Friendly wardens and people!

June 2005 We only live a short distance from Pembrey, regulary use the country park and it's attractions but had never stayed on the CC site.
Top class facilities and spotless. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Site wonderfully landscaped.
Highly recommended.

August 2004 We enjoyed our stay at this site. It is right at the entrance to Pembrey Country Park with dry toboggan run, horse riding, picnic areas and two play areas for the kids. It is quite a trek to the beach (about 1 mile) but we managed it walking with all our gear and kids aged 9 and 11 (and one occcasion running from the rain - we went during the bad weather of 2004!)
The beach is beautiful and lifeguard patrolled. There is a shop and cafe near it with showers to clean the sand off which are useful. No dogs are allowed on the main beach (strictly enforced by lifeguards) but there is an area further down the coast where you can exercise dogs (within walking distance.)
The site itself is well looked after spotless toilet block, well maintained park, friendly helpful staff. Only one gripe - we visited in August and found we had to queue every morning for a shower as there were only 7 (in two blocks) for the whole female population of the campsite which seemed woefully inadequate for such a large site. Men also had to queue for their turn.
We also had trouble getting a washing machine as there were only two of them. These gripes had been noted frequently in the Caravan clubs visitor book though so hopefully something will be done about them! Neither should be a problem at less busy times.
All in all though this was a great site in a lovely area and is well worth a visit - kids will love it and it is also great for cyclists with many coastal bicycle routes in the area.

several times! (last 2002) Pembrey is a Caravan club site and maintained to a very high standard. It is flat and the pitches are fairly generous. The site has immaculate washing and shower facilities including a full laundry room. The caravan club sites rules are very strictly enforced by the wardens but in a very friendly and pleasant manner which makes for a nice environment for people staying. The site is situated at the entrance to Pembrey country park. There are lovely facilities in the park itself which is very cheap to enter. There is a nominal charge per car at entry but if you ride bikes in or walk in then its free to enter and then from there around a mile to the beach (I wouldnt try to walk it with kids). The beach itself is called Cefn Sidan (pronounced kefun sheedan) and stretches for some 7 miles. Dogs are not permitted during the summer months and this is strictly adhered to. The beach is a blue flag beach and so not only is it very clean but it has toilets etc too.
The park is several square miles and ideal for bike rides and there is a designated BBQ and picnic area, a cafeteria (also a second one at the ski centre) has model railway and a wild west themed adventure playground too, a dry ski slope and toboggan run, there is also horse riding avaliable at busier times. The park itself is an old munitions/military base so wonderful for lads with lots of WW2 bunkers (although most blocked up for safety reasons). Most of the forest is still there and the beach is lined with sand dunes making the place wonderful for kids to go off exploring a little. It can be a little windy there but the beach is really lovely so as long as the weather is fine it's a lovely place, great for flying kites as there are literally acres of open space to enjoy
Amenities and atrractions in the immediate area are a little limited but nearby (30 mins drive) Swansea lies to the East and Carmarthen to the West both offering shopping, markets and lots more places to visit if you want to get out and about further than the park itself.
