A lovely situated campsite let down by its facilities.
The bottom area of this large campsite is just a car park and suitable for one night. We stayed in the top half with amazing views. Was rather exposed to the elements and the van shook at night due the terrific downpours.
There wasn't much room between pitches but more than made up for by the views over the hills.
It's an hours walk into Oban. There's a school bus that goes in and out on school days which is useful.
The site was just under £20 a night for 2 adults and a motorhome. This felt over priced. The toilet block looked like something from my junior school (1960s). A few scruffy toilets that don't flush properly and full of pale brown water.
The showers were painful to use. A trickle of tepid water in a non heated block (horrible to use in September). These facilities badly need updating.
I wouldn't recommend this site and I'm sure there's better in the area.

This site does not take bookings so we just arrived and booked in within minutes. Selected our own pitch, which for touring caravans is separate to the tent area.
Has all the facilities you need within easy reach.
The town of Oban is about 2 miles away along a single track road. There is a Tesco in the town along with Aldi and Lidl.
A great week on a great site.
My only criticism is the shower block could do with updating but it is more than adequate.

The site is in a stunningly beautiful setting about 3 miles south of Oban. The road to the site is quite narrow so take care if you're in a van or towing something.
There are two main fields for camping within the site as well as an overspill field at the site entrance. We camped in the lower field within the main site.
Two visits. One in early July and one in early august 2011. A big contrast between the visits. The first was great. Very few units around and it was easy to pitch anywhere. In fact there is no formal system for pitching, you just take a spot. This proved difficult on the second visit because it was crowded with only a few pitches available. We took one next to an ehu and was told we may have to move unless we paid for the ehu (we were non ehu then).
Everything was great on the first visit. No queues for showers or washing up area. On the second visit the toilet blocks and showers always had queues.
It's a great site to visit out of season but is hard to bear when busy. I imagine Scottish school holiday season and bank holidays are always busy.
I give 6 out if 10 on the basis that the facilities really struggle to cope during the busier periods. Out if season it's 9 out if 10.

A lovely site which is well organised and has a layout to it that makes it feel spacious. We had lovely views from our van.
The shower and toilet facilities were good and 20p for hairdryer was fine.
I liked the location and it was handy for the ferry port.
A well stocked shop and helpful staff.
Will definitely use this site again, particularly as a stop over when using the ferries to and from Oban.

We stayed here for one night at the end of our holiday
The situation is lovely and we liked the way we were able to choose our pitch
Facilities were adequate and clean. Block we used was an older building. Looked like some on the camping fields were newer
Took us a while to realise the hookups on our pitch had only one out of four working and that we had not got a major electrics problem. As soon as we reported it the next morning someone came within minutes to sort it out which was very good
Shop well stocked including real ales
We had a super day out on Kerrera. Well worth a visit for the views and visit to Gylen Castle

Large site in a lovely location. It's perhaps 3 miles from Oban town centre, but the drive out the coast below the cliffs, with the view across to Kerrera gives a clue to the views from the site.
The site is large and has several areas. The site do not take bookings and they do not turn anyone away due to the space they have available. But the views from most areas are obstructed by trees. If you can, get one of the pitches up on the terraces, as you can see south out to the smaller islands, west over the sound to Kerrera (and watch the boats) and to the North see the sun play on the cliffs as it goes down).
We usually tour from place to place and don't base ourselves in one place, but we stayed here a couple of nights, as Oban is a good place to base yourself for day trips.
Facilities are fine, and clean.
Don't confuse this site with others in the area. We did that a couple of years ago, and ended up at an inferior place.

Good large site with plenty of tent pitches. The grass was very well mown and nice and short. There are several areas where tents can be pitched and we found a nice one which gave a view out of the site towards the Sound of Kerrera. Note although the site is beside the Sound there a only a limited number of pitches available beside the sea and these were reserved for a rally when we were there.
There are a few pitches which hold the sun a lot longer than others and they are the highest - note. Unfortunately they were all taken when we arrived.
The toilet block was a bit rudimentary and showers slow. They were adequate but could do with a make over. The shop was reasonably stocked and the staff were polite.
The site has a campers kitchen and a deep freeze for campers use for ice packs etc. I would definitely return to this site.
Oban is a wonderful place and there is loads to do and see.

Nice site, showers, toilets good, play area and dog walk good, like the idea that you can choose your own spot to pitch BUT beware, make sure you pitch at a right angle to the road(?).
We didn't and after we had set all up and was just starting to cook we were told we had to turn around to be at a right angle towards the road. We did ask why only to be told because if we park like we had, everyone else will want too. We are still at a loss as to why
Shame because we will not be returning.

Great site. Plenty of room for tents with no pre-defined pitches - always nice. Toilet block for tents small (2 WC and 2 showers) but perfectly decent and clean. Free showers. Would image could get very long queues when busy.
Owner very straight forward and reasonable. Was prepared to let us use our fire basket providing we protected the grass with BBQ bricks of which there were plenty freely available by toilet block.
Site about 3 miles south of Oban - nice little cycle if you have push bikes to hand.

Just arrived back from a four night stay at this campsite.
First of all, many people on here have commented on the owner/manager being rude. There is now a new manager (only been there 2 months) on the scene and he is very chatty and helpful along with the lady as well. They were both very happy to help when we were there.
The campsite is beautiful, well kept with some amazing views. The shop/reception wasn't open, it opens in May until September! We visited the campers kitchen, unfortunately the cooker didn't work and nor did the freezer. We weren't too fussed but it would've been nice. It would also have been nice to have a kettle/sink in there.
The games room was pretty sparse with a snooker table, a non working TV, a racing game (not working) and a couple of chairs. I can imagine this site gets extremely busy in summer and the facilities do not cover this at all.
We counted approximately 9 toilets and 5 showers for the women. For the men there was approximately: 4 urinals, 6 toilets and 4 showers. I don't think this is enough when the site is busy at all. We only noticed one drinking water tap but we didn't really visit the other toilet blocks. If you are camping at the bottom of the site (jetty area) then there are no toilets down there, you have to walk up the big hill to go.
I would say there's not an awful lot for the kids, a couple of swings is all there is.
The site itself is beautiful with gorgeous views and we were lucky as the site was very quiet and we had some amazing weather.
It cost us £12 for two adults in a 2 man tent with no electric hook up which isn't bad.
Watch out for the crow who nibbles at things in your tent, he is very friendly and will come to you for a stroke.
All in all, a lovely site with minimal facilities. We will go back but not in mid-high season.
