Overall, our experience was OK here.
The positives -
Level field with plenty of space.
Toilets were very clean most of the time.
Rubbish and recycling was kept very clean.
Showers were fine - a bit hot (non adjustable) - too hot for the kids.
There's a large washing area with 10 or so machines.
15 minute or so pleasant walk to the local well stocked Co-Op ( You can walk through the woods to get there)
Scenery around is lovely - and there's a mill half an hours walk or so which does lovely cream teas and is run by a charming couple.
Bad Points
I thought it was very expensive compared to others - we paid £60 for two nights for a 6 berth tent, one car, and two people first night, four the next. For that price you can stay in a Premier Inn!.
The people in the office were polite but I didn't feel it was the 'Warm Welcome' the website mentions - The first thing we got was an A4 sheet of rules and regulations (To be fair, most of these were perfectly reasonable).
My main gripe though was the seemingly constant circling presence of a warden each evening, who came and peered at our (tiny!) BBQ to check we were not using logs on it, whilst ignoring the people in the next tent who appeared to have a home cinema system on max.
I'd say the experience was OK, overall

Just returned from a weekend at Hill Cottage and had a wonderful time. Really please with the site, we were at the bottom of the field where we requested, close to the playground and spent the weekend sitting at our tent watching the kids playing in front of us all day.
Toilets in the camping field were in a trailer but of good quality and when cleaned once a day were sparkling - my suggestion though is to clean them more than that, again in the evening would have been nice as they were pretty dirty in the morning following a full 24 hours use.
Showers in the main block were very hot in the mornings - I didn't even try the kids for them as they would have been burnt but by the afternoon they had cooled down.
No stones so easy to get your pegs in, great for taking walks in the fields next door, no noise as is down a country lane.
I don't know if I would want to be there in peak season with tents pitched in the middle of the field as we like the pitching round the edge for the kids to play freely in the middle but we will certainly come again this year, and pick a weekend like this one which is pretty empty for them.
Great site all round really and fabulous location to explore the New Forest

We had a long weekend at this site and after reading such great reviews were left feeling disappointed. The site has amazing pitches for caravans and a good sized tent field.
However, the tent field is very much a free for all. The pitches are allocated to you and are fairly well spaced but it was incredibly noisy.
The site is well drained, clean and a good location

This was our first visit but definitely not our last. We had a big fully-serviced pitch - the only problem was having to borrow extra water pipe!
The people were very helpful and friendly, and baguettes freshly-baked on demand were much appreciated. The main toilet/shower blocks and laundry were all beautifully clean. There were other toilets in the camping area but we didn't check those.
We found an excellent pub with restaurant only a mile or two away, and Fordingbridge town has all the shops you need. But, for us, the big feature of this site was the bird life. There are dozens of bird boxes for all types of birds, many of which are in the trees along the nearby woodland walks.
Even the site mail box was out of use because Blue tits were nesting inside! The only improvement we could suggest would be a site entrance sign nearer the edge of the road. We weren't the only ones who drove past on arrival and had a tricky turn round manoeuvre to get back.
We will definitely be back.

Lovely peaceful site having just come back from a 4 night break we would recommend this sit. We stayed on the caravan side which were very spacious pitches lined with hedges and were fully serviced pitches. Couldn't really find a fault with site other than would benefit from a dog exercising field, having said this there were a couple of short walks, and a woodland walk though we didnt have time to venture the wooded walk. You would however need a car to appreciate surrounding areas as realistically only a pub and a shop in walking distance, this is a 10 min walk by the side of campsite you do however go through a couple of horse fields and over several styles but don't let that put you off. Fordingbridge is not that far away and has variety of shops, pubs and takeaways, I would definitely return, very relaxing.

We had a weekend here, with friends. Site seemed very busy, but there was plenty of space so didn't seem crowded. We had a good sized pitch on the edge, in the camping field. Initially we were disappointed not to be in the caravan bit (individual pitches lined with hedges and on gravel), but it worked out for the best as we had taken the children's bikes and there was no cycling allowed in the caravan area.
They very happily cycled up and down in the camping field. The electric points were in odd places, in the middle of the field rather than round the edge and as a consequence, there seemed to be electric cables trailing everywhere.
The washing facilities in the camping field were very basic and not that pleasant. Not much privacy and no hand towels in the ladies side, all the time we were there. Not sure if they were cleaned or not, but I ended up doing the long trek to the facilities in the caravan area as these were much more pleasant.
The mens facilities in the caravan area were not very well lit apparently. The other facilities in the caravan area were good, washing machines etc. There was a rumour of a games room, but we couldn't find it either - upstairs somewhere I believe - Signs would be good!
We visited Burghley (excellent pub, The Queen's Head) and Moors Valley Country Park, which we have vowed to return to as soon as we can, as it was brilliant.
Overall, a spacious site (if you are on the edge) and fairly quiet, with nice surroundings. I'm not sure we would revisit as there are plenty of other sites to try in the same area and the toilet facilities were a bit off putting.

We have recently returned from this site and the hard standing pitch was very spacious with little hedges each side. The surrounding area was good and local shops in Fordingbridge very pleasant,(approximately 2 miles away).
The lakes on the site are very neglected, dirty and overgrown. We also had a problem when we first arrived as we had booked and paid for an awning but after struggling in the heat to erect the annexe that goes on our awning we were told to take it down as we had not booked for this.
There is however no mention of extra charges for annexes within their price list or anywhere within the brochure, and we have never been asked to pay extra or pre book our annexe at any other camp site and we have been camping for many years. I did point this fact out to the warden.
It is also worth mentioning that there is a large rally field at the rear of the hard standing pitches which can become very noisy at times. Also there is only one shower block for the whole of the site including the rally and camping field which can become very busy.
Overall the site is quite pleasant but be warned it is very easy to miss the black and gold sign on the road at the entrance to the site and the road is very narrow so very difficult to turn around in.

Our first stay at this site, but certainly wont be our last.
Laid out really nicely, we stayed in the rally field, plenty of space. On arrival, the owner got on his bike and cycled along to show us where to pitch up
There is a kids playpark at the end of the field which was great as our children could go off and play and we could still see them easily.
Facilities good and they were always clean, one of the owners came round at 10:30 and spoke to anyone who was making too much noise. We found it very quiet there.
Highly recommended

Just returned from this site. Nothing wrong with site. Staff friendly. Facilities as good as any you would expect to find on a Caravan Club site. Clean and all in good condition. Location is great for touring around and of course the beautiful New Forest. However DO NOT be lured to this site if you are hoping for some fishing, because the 3 tiny lakes are not managed, two of them would be almost impossible to fish due to debris in the water and the overgrown nature of the surrounds. Shame because that was one of the reasons for us choosing this site. It would also have been nice to have been informed of a 'children's rally' present, which rather spoiled our first 2 days. Lots of positives but one of our reasons for visiting, the fishing was simply not realistic and for this reason only we would not return!

My wife had asked for a pitch with internet access, it turned out the internet access was very limited and the few pitches that could receive it were taken.
We were shown to a hard standing pitch with a hedge behind it, we didn't realise till later that this hid the toilet block and children's play area for the camping field, this was incredibly noisy as was the entire camping field which was just behind us, some of the people with annual pitches said that it had been like that all summer.
The toilet block was basic and appeared to be hosed down every day rather than cleaned, this left it incredibly wet for the rest of the day.
We found the warden unhelpful and thought the site expensive for what it was.
This site is in an excellent location but I would not recommend this site for couples hoping to enjoy some peace and quiet. However if you have a noisy family you will love it.
