We visited as first time campers and were very impressed with the facilities on site. We never used the pub for the food but it looked reasonably priced.
The site is about 5 miles from Windermere itself but that wont put us off from another visit. The pitches are very level but we needed rock pegs and quite a few. All in all a great site friendly staff well worth it.

It was our first time in a C and CC site having only joined two days earlier and we managed to book this large site on the day we went despite it being a hot weekend.
Having driven down on a Friday night after work we got there, booked in and then found that our car would not start again! Several staff came straight out to help push the car into the site carpark and then hitched up our folding camper to an on site tractor and took straight to our pitch.
They even brought water in a dish for our dogs! With offers of tools and any help we needed they then left us to sort our camper. OH was able to fix car later so the holiday could go on.
The site is well ordered, nice level pitches and clean, warm, plentiful showers / toilets. Separate washing cubicles also available as was in door dishwashing facilities and a laundry room.
Park for kids and a bar serving meals also there though did not use these but they looked fine, at decent prices for a range of meals too.
The lack of loud noise, people talking, music after 10.30 etc. was great for relaxing after a working week and the size of the pitches just added to a really nice weekend. Each pitch had a nice grass area at the side.
Digital tv could be picked up fine with our ariel too.
We had a hardstanding pitch with ehu at 16amp but also checked out the tent fields for visits with family. There was a field for basic tents and a larger field for tents / caravans / motor homes to be together on grass with ehu. We even saw a huge RV so they are able to take all types.
They do take non members too though prices will go up. Dogs are welcome though the dog walk area was quite small. For exercise the site was large enough in the heat, with leads on of course (we were lucky with the weather)
Will definitely go back here again.

Just got back from a brilliant 2 night stay over the May Day Bank Holiday. Lovely site, really easy to get to. Friendly wardens, booked us in and then showed us to our pitch, gave us loads of information about the site and the area, very helpful.
Showers and toilets were very clean. The site was pretty much full but didn't seem overcrowded.
Little boot / cycle / dog wash area which was great. There is a small shop with all the essentials and a bar / restaurant, we didn't actually get to try it out!
Ten minute drive to Windermere. Few miles from Staveley, we had dinner from the chippy there last night, it wasn't the best we have ever had!
Popped in at the Watermill on the way back from Windermere, lovely pub, good ales, we didn't try the food. They welcome dogs into part of the pub which was great.
All in all a lovely weekend and we hope to return in the summer.

Great site, easy location off M6 then A591. Pitches flat with either hard-standing or grass. Good showers, never had to queue (but then again I get up early)
Friendly wardens take you to your pitch and help you onto site. If required a small tractor will help pull on/off. Dog walk in vicinity, few miles walk to Stavely.
Short drive to Windermere. Site is busy at bank hols. Lots of children on bicycles. Get there earlier enough and try and get a pitch on The Mound. Not too many kids there!

We made a last minute booking here on our way back from Scotland.
Very friendly reception with well stocked shop. You pay a premium for having a restaurant and pub on site (which we are not bothered about when we go camping). We are C&CC members and at Easter for 4 in a Motorhome, it cost us just under £35 a night-for this price, I'd expect a heated swimming pool!
The site was obviously well kept and toilet and shower facilities were excellent.
We had a lovely walk across fields to Stavely, the station being about a mile and a half away, with trains to main line stations. Stavely has a pub, spar shop and fish and chip shop. There were pheasants wandering around the site and it was lovely watching people enjoying themselves after spending the previous night at a caravan club site.

We came here when our holiday abroad was cancelled due to ash cloud. Lovely site, near to lake Windermere by car 5 to 10 minute drive. Windermere has lots to see and do, boat trips, Beatrix Potter, and shopping. Clean site with great facilities, dog bath, pub/restaurant, with very nice food and reasonably priced. Lots of walks nearby. Toilets and showers clean and well kept. Would definitely go again, one of the best sites we have visited. Cannot wait to visit here again hopefully this year sometime.

Lovely site, quite easy to find and the showers were clean (if a little cramped in the normal cubicle) and warm. The kids play area was good but could be fantastic if more effort were made.
The shop was quite well stocked and the staff friendly.
On the down side the pitches were a little small. We paid to put our awning up but didn't get a larger pitch and ended up with very little space to park our car. If we didn't have an awning we would have more room for less money.
The pub was very nice, however we were not allowed to use it as we had children with us and we had to sit in the recreation room to eat. We have been in pubs up and down Britain and have never been sent out because we have our children with us.
As a consequence the bar remained empty and the recreation room was packed with families.
The food served in there was very nice if a touch on the pricey side but be warned, they don't take debit cards, it is cash or cheque only! There is a good pub just down the road towards Windemere that does take debit cards.

Really nice camp site not far from the Lakes. We stayed here en route to the Lakes and its a lovely site. It has a small shop which stocks basic items and the couple who run the site seem very friendly.
We are not members of the club but were able to stay here and pay a fee as non members. There are a large amount of pitches but over a few different areas and there is enough space between pitches for privacy and the pitches are on hand standings.
The facilities here are very good and well maintained. The washing up area is very good and the sinks are large allowing you to do a lot of washing up. Toilets and showers are heated and very good and have a coded door for entry.
The site seemed very family friendly and is in a lovely location. Not sure I would fancy taking a a caravan down the access road as it is narrow and had various pot holes but in our campervan it was fine. Caravans had gone down this road, so its just my opinion!
Really would recommend this site and would re visit when we are in the area again.

Site was superb upon arriving we were escorted to our pitch has it was nearly dusk. It was two days before christmas eve. First time of staying on such a large site .The decorations on site were pretty impressive I must say. You were left to spend xmas how you wanted.
The pub on site was catering for xmas lunches but you had to book in advance for that. Local shop on site that sold fresh local produce. On site shower and toilet blocks were clean and warm bearing in mind some nights the outside temp was -6.
The views around the campsite were superb. The one thing that we liked was you didn't have to take the car out if you didn't want to cos there was some nice walks around the site.
There is a morrisons in kendal if you ran out of anything major. We were surprised at how busy the site became during the Christmas festivities. We would certainly visit the site again.

Loved this site! It is easy to find & a great base from which you can explore the lakes.
On arrival a chap escorted us to our plot & worked out how far away we should be from our friends neighbouring tent so we were within fire safety regs. When we put the wind break up between the two tents he kindly asked us to move it - unknown to us it was a fire hazard being so close between the two tents. We were impressed with their safety conscious attitude.
The site is very well maintained & spotlessly clean. Plenty of toilets & showers which are very thoroughly cleaned. There is also a backpackers cabin which has sinks plus a couple of benches to eat at inside.
Security is very good & you have to obtain a key fob in order to get your car in & out of the site (£10 refundable deposit). Entry & exit is prohibited from 11pm at night & a second barrier goes across the entrance to ensure this.
There is an 11pm quiet policy too. They adhere to it strongly to the point that last orders at the bar is 10.30pm with kicking out time at 10.50. Site is lovely & quiet so we all managed to sleep very well.
Plots are very flat although can be a little stony so make sure you bring plenty of pegs as we bent a few.
The main bar is lovely & has a quaint lakeland feel to it. They have a stock of playing cards & domino's for you to borrow too. We didn't use the shop but it did look well stocked.
The children's play area is great & we look forward to bringing our children with us on our next trip as they will love it.
Basically this site isn't the cheapest as you have to pay an additional £6(ish) for being a non member but it is absolutely worth every penny. If you are looking for a rowdy, cheap & cheerful site then this is not the one for you. If you are looking for a quiet, immaculately well maintained campsite then this is the one for you. We will definitely be staying next year!
