Easy to find and enter the site via the pub carpark.
Toilets are in portable cabins on left at entrance with water and elsan to the right. They have fenced off the elsan and water. Toilets did still seem to be leaking on the floor and I was not impressed with them so used my caravan most the time. I was going to use shower and is clean with enough space but didn't realise its tokens so didn't bother.
13 marked pitched of which 11 are very uneven. Pitch 6/7 seemed best to me or 9/10 for space and views.
Location is fab pub next to the canal. We walked to Tarpoley 2.5miles, Beeston Castle 2 Miles away expensive attraction also Beeston 2 miles which has great market and a pub.
Would return as great location but prob wont return as the loos are not great and the caravan field is a bit unattractive but glad we went. £40 for fri to mon no rush to leave we didn't go till 3pm

Lovely quiet peaceful site. Parked on the field with electrics, just glad the weather was good, as very uneven with the track marks where vehicles were stuck the previous week
Portacabin block now moved nearer the campers but in a poor state, 2 toilets in the ladies both leaking on to the wooden floor, only 1 very small shower (not working as no pressure) & will be tokens when fixed. No mirrors in the gents.
Lovely site to spend a few days, nice views & pleasant walks along canal

We went for Easter weekend, bargain price including electric was £30 for 3 nights! and a extra car.
Ground was very wet, our car got stuck and so did the campervan next to use. They did tell us when we got there they had 10 days of rain which had left the field in a mess, getting our tent up in a downpour, getting all our wet gear in then trying to dry everything off the Sun came out, Just typical :o)
We would go back but only when the weather is better as for us, 2 dogs with us and a mother in law the amount of mud was a headache for us and the whole weekend after cleaning it down.
We never got to use the pub for meals because of the mutts and weather but it looks lovely inside, we did have a drink outside which is a lovely area and there is a small park really nice watching the canal boats go past.
There is a potacabin toilet and shower - Didnt use the shower as it was very cold in there and couldn't complain at the toilets for the cheap price as they was cleaned daily and always had toilet paper but nothing to dry your hand or soap.
All in all the place is easy to find with GPS, in a good location for days out, cheap and cheerful! We would only use for short breaks until the new toilets/shower are installed.

Brilliant site - location fantastic, pub fab and the staff are lovely and really helpful. Children loved the park and feeding the ducks and swan! Kept them entertained for hours! The toilets and showers are being done up so can't really comment as we were in a caravan it wasn't a worry. Tarporley is a lovely village.Have a wonderful market on a Saturday morning. The locals are very welcoming and the shops are expensive but very quaint. Will definitely go there again!

Our first caravan experience was at this small site and what a great start! The views were lovely, pub on site by the canal, plenty of great walks! The pub food was very good and staff very helpful & friendly! The toilet block is in the process of being re-sited and will be a great asset on site, although we have our own bathroom this was not a problem for us, there is a shower & toilet room provided by the pub for campers! Will definitely go again & again!

A lovely little site.
A few hardstandings and several grassy pitches with electric, overlooking the canal. It was lovely sitting in the awning watching the barges go by.
The pub itself serves wonderful food, not cheap but excellent, I can recommend the ostrich.
Check in is at the pub itself which can be problematic if early as the pub is closed until 12.
Having said that we were early and just set up and went to the pub later, it wasn't a problem. Nice people and didn't seem in a rush to shoo you off in the morning.
The portacabin toilet/showers were clean but no handdryers. The men said there was no mirror in the gents so tricky to shave.
I would certainly go again

Great site overlooking the moorings on the canal and Beeston castle, close to Chester (10 miles) The pub serves decent ale and a good menu, more restaurants than locals bar. The pub caters for campers, boaters and caravans with occasional music events in the pleasant beer garden. The new toilet block is small but adequate and clean. The camping area can get compact when busy, all pitches with electric and water near by it was excellent value for money in a very tranquil neck of the woods

Spent a few days at Shady Oak - found it to be a pleasant site - facilities were clean but cramped and fair walk from pitches
Staff very friendly and helpful
Grass pitches where not marked and a little uneven - but not a problem (some late comers managed to squeeze in close to us, as it was a busy weekend)
Lovely walks along the canal
Shops & garage a couple of miles away, covered most food/drink needs
Well worth another visit

Great little site. Owners friendly and very helpful. Stayed for 4 nights and luckily the weather was great! We're planning to go back in sept. There were some noisy campers but it didn't spoil the weekend.
Toilet block small but clean and adequate.
Pub friendly and reasonably priced. Didn't eat at the pub but food looked and smelt great.
Lots to do in the area. Very close to snugburys ice cream and the big ben made from hay, well worth a look and ice cream to die for!

Stayed here for a weekend whilst visiting chester zoo and the city itself. The portakabins were in the process of being installed, but not yet in use when we visited, leaving one small toilet and shower cubicle.
Excellent location being next to the canal and with the pub onsite. Nice drive to the zoo and the city.
The food at the pub is very reasonable and of good quality, as is the beer!
The owners let one of the girls plug her hair sraghteners in the pub when the cleaners were in at 7.30 in the morning!
Overall not a bad site but probably doesn't provide an excellent location for families.
