Great Campsite in a gorgeous setting - Amazing views of Wales and beautiful farm land. Well maintained site with basic but good facilities.
Nothing fancy about the shower or toilet blocks but they were very clean and all in working order.
Harry the owner and Helen were really friendly and helpful. Camp fires are allowed and you can buy logs from the site which really makes it easy in the evenings.
The beach we went to was 5 mins drive away and was gorgeous, hidden through the pine forests (think they were pines anyhow!). Local shop/garage was 2 mins walk away which is really great for the essentials.
They have their own Vineyard on-site which I think is really special. Great to see local growers giving it a go! Preferred the white wine to the red, but nice to try my first Welsh wine!
Overall had a great stay, thanks.

A very pleasantly situated site, at the time we visited we were the only unit on site. Clean facilities, and very friendly owners. Harry, the owner took us around his vineyard and gave us a wine tasting. We felt compelled to buy a bottle (a mistake.) Good base for West Anglesey, with Newborough beach and forest close by. Free parking in the forest. The village of Newborough has nothing to offer except a convenience store.
Just up the road from the site is the White Lodge Cafe - very good food and service. Plas Newydd stately home not far away, and also cheap 9 hole pay and play golf.
Downside, as others have mentioned - £20 a night (includes EHU tho') and £1 for 4 mins in the shower. Most expensive CL site we have stayed in, and for that reason we are 'out'(apologies to Dragons Den)

Nice clean quiet site, quite close to most places, great views of Snowdonia. Very friendly owners, and a couple of horses on site which the kids loved. They also allow open fires and sell wood on site.
I just had a couple of gripes:
The top field was quite a way from the toilets and showers and not very flat for tents;
Considering it had little or no facilities I found it quite dear at £16 a night for a 4 berth tent, especially as the showers were expensive. I put my 20p in, got into the shower, hung my toiletries up, got out the shampoo. And the timer ran out. £1 just about covered the fastest shower I've ever had - it was maybe 2 mins in all.

I cannot praise this campsite enough. I had a wonderful two week break here at the beginning of April 2011. Harry and Helen were very welcoming and the site was basic but very clean. As a single woman travailing by foot with only my dog as a companion, the site felt very secure and safe.
I have read through the other reviews and I would like to point out firstly there is two toilets not one, and there is a area for hand washing only at the near end of the kitchen counter where the dish washing sink is. Also another reviewer commented that the thermostat in the shower did not work, I had no problems with it as it did work when I was there.
Although as another reviewer pointed out there is not a shop close by, there is a garage approx 2 mins walk away that sells the usual like bread, coffee, cheese, biscuits cold drinks, petrol and tobacco. The shop by foot is only about 30 mins walk and across from the post office. For campers who are travailing by food and don’t have the means to boil water, you can get cooked food and coffee at the White lodge from 9am in the morning but not on Wednesdays, this is only a 20 min walk from the site.
Walkers will also find a pleasant short cut to the beach if instead of going through the village and forest they go straight past white lodge and over the roundabout then take the first left. This will put you onto a nature trail that will lead you either to the beaches or through the forest, where the forest trails are marked. Dogs must be kept on leads as there is a lot of wild ponies if you go over the sty and sand dunes to explore the walk across the wash to the coastline that can take several hours.
Also if when on foot you take the first right after the White lodge, you will come across another trail that leads you to a largish river with breathtaking natural but large stepping stones as a means of crossing. This river was running quite fast so if you have small children you would need to keep a eye on them.
Another reviewer pointed out dogs are aloud on the beach to the left. This is correct the blue flag beach is to the right but dogs are allowed on the blue flag beach but not during the May-October period. There is also a toilet block in the beach car park in the forest, but no where to get a drink so not a water fountain if you are on foot and need to top up your water bottles.
The TyCroes farm and camp site itself is roughly half hour bus ride from Bangor train station. To sum up after two weeks I felt like a member of the family, with non of the snobbery you can get at the caravan club as a tent user sometimes.

There is only 6 amp so make sure you take lots of gas, ours tripped a few times so wasn't able to use heater and water heater at same time.
For the price of £20 per night you would think there would be 10 amp or 16 amp available.
The price didn't include the showers which you have to pay for, using 20 pence pieces.
We had a buy a new bottle of gas and run mainly of that in order to get a warm shower and heat the van.
Keep to the top of the field in damp weather as we got stuck and had to be pushed out by other campers

I stayed here with some friends in January, so when February half-term came around I thought I'd take the kids to Anglesey for a night so we could spend two full days exploring. We only live just up the coast (about 30miles) and quite often visit the island. Unfortunately a lot of sites appeared to be closed, so I thought I'd return to Ty Croes because I knew where the site was and what to expect.
The site itself is as it says on the description. Facilities are basic, one toilet, one shower (costs extra). There seems to be quite a few hook ups and a couple of caravans seem to be sited there. The field I was on is on a slight slope and is relatively well maintained with shortish grass.
However I was gobsmacked to be told the cost was now £20 for myself and three children (one of whom is old enough to be probably classed as an adult, thereby the equivalent of two adults / two kids). I was in a tiny campervan, no awning, it was February, the showers cost extra (we didn't use them) and to top it off, there wasn't even any hot water for washing up. I must reiterate that I don't have a problem with basic facilities, in fact we tend to prefer that type of site, however I think £20 a night is a bit steep.

Just spent 3 perfect days on this site.
Very pleasant welcome, were allocated a huge pitch on the bottom field, views of snowdon glorious. Fields themselves very well maintained, this site is on a farm and a fair bit of agricultural machinery on site which our 2 year old just loved, but would require older children to be warned about dangers or supervised. No play facilities on site but this did not stop our 5 children aged 2-15 having a great time here, there was so much space for games.
Wine well worth a sample, available on site.
Toilets and showers very basic indeed, ie nails knocked in for hooks, but clean, pot wash under cover but no hot water. Minimum facilities reflected in the pitch price of only £15 per night. Other campers all really pleasant, families and couples, really peaceful at night.
The site is in fantastic spot for exploring anglesey, newborough only 5 minutes away, lots goinng on around for small children ie foel farm, 5 minutes drive, sea zoo 10 minutes.
Will return next year

The site has its own vineyard and obviously sampled a bottle of white. My wife liked it but at £8.50 a bottle I thought it a bit pricey.
The location of the site enabled us to explore the coast line. Newborough Warren beach we thought was the best, car park £3.00 all day (take £1 coins for slot machine it is not manned and no chance to get any change).
The facilities are basic and sufficient for the lower field, however, the top field that does not have any facilities had a CCC folk festival meet and was full, this meant that at times a small queue formed. The shower takes 20p for about 30 seconds of hot water 40p was enough to get wet then very cold shower from then on, and at 05:30 in the morning not a pleasant experience, (obviously had a malfunction).
Dog owners don't be put off by the sign that reads 'Dogs not permitted on the blue flag area' The Blue Flag area is to the right as you enter the beach but turn left and you can spend the whole day walking on the beach and in the sand dunes with the dogs or if you prefer in the woodland. The direction sign is self explanatory.
Also try Rhosneigr Beach again a Blue Flag area but dogs are permitted so long as the owners clean up after the dogs.
All in all we had a very pleasant stay and have added this site to our return list at some time in the future.

On arrival we met the owner Harry who was very pleasant and noticed the views looking out towards mount Snowdon which were stunning.
But this is where the goods points end.
There are two toilets on site which were usually clean and had loo roll in. But there was nowhere for you to wash your hands afterwards apart from a sink which was also used to wash pots in
This also had just cold water so was easier to boil kettle at tent.
As for the showers when we were there the thermostat did not work so all you had was hot water, which was far too hot for my child to use.
All in all I would not come again

Harry very friendly, views fantastic. The site was very windy not that anything could be done about that.
There is no running hot water to wash your pots and no wash hand basins in the toilets to was your hands, you can wash your hands in the sink that's for washing pots, as we were asked a few times if we could hurry washing the pots so a lady could wash her hands after using the toilets.
There is one shower that is very hot so the children could not have a shower. There are no places local to eat in the evening or any local pubs without taking the car
