Used the campsite for a quick overnight camp spot for myself and the dog.
Everyone was very friendly,
Good facilities which were spotless and a great meal in the pub.
Going to try to get back in the summer !

It is 2 fields behind the Royal Oak pub plus an extra area next to their car park.
It has a 3 showers and 2 toilets per gender which are shared with their camping barn rooms.
The pub staff were really friendly and helpful, and the pub food was good and plentiful and they do breakfasts too. There were also BBQs available.
The best bit was having the High Peak Trail just next to the campsite so you can roll out of bed, throw on your boots and go.

Awesome site - small but really friendly, book early to ensure you get a pitch.
The faculties are pretty good, showers could do with an update, but there clean. Pub is fantastic and meals are excellent.
The walks on the old railway line to the ice cream Parlour is a gentle but lovely walk.

We called in on our way back from Bakewell and stayed for the night. Just one other campervan on site so plenty of room! Basic toilets but that's all we need.
Great situation being right on the trail so plenty of easy walking either towards Buxton or back towards Ashbourne.
Lovely helpful staff, booked in easily then had a great meal in the pub. Went back to the campervans and lit the firepit and settled down for the night. Called back to the bar for a few nightcaps and a natter.
Excellent breakfast in the pub in the morning as we decided to treat ourselves.
We will be back very soon, only 30 miles from home so will be great for a quick Fri/Sat away.

Highly priced. Have to vacate pitch by 11am. Noisy. Beside busy main road.
Pot washing facility's one sink splattered with bird poo from chicks nesting. Not our cup of tea. No inclination to return.
Plus point pub was nice. Buxton close by.

Not Happy Chappie. !
Booked and paid for 3 nights at the Royal Oak campsite. Arrived on Good Friday afternoon and agree the weather was awful.
Went inside and spoke to a very polite gentleman who's reply was to when I explained that driving onto the grass was not an option because it was so wet, O yes we've closed the lower area you'll have to park on the gravel area at the top, this by the way was the parking area for campers, staff etc.
A bit disappointed he made no effort to come outside and assist nor really was there a mention of refund, not that I asked. Should have done I guess.
Anyway parked up and stayed 1 night. We then moved on to another site in Buxton.
Had food in the pub. This I must stress was Very Nice.
To sum up. If wet stay away poor drainage. Shame because beautiful area right next to the Tissington trail.

The Royal Oak Hurdlow.
Lovely area with great walks along the tissington trail. Pitch is on a slight slope with no electric hook up.
Shower & washing facilities are very good & clean.
Nice charming pub with great food menu and a roaring log fire for winter week ends. We had no internet or phone network whilst their as it is in a valley.
WI FI is available free in the pub and a TV to watch in the bar.

We had a really nice welcome, pitched on the lower field which was level, mown and clean.
The toilets and showers were clean too in spite of an influx of walkers and campers walking in the cut grass. With a full site the only two toilets in the ladies block might cause some difficulties.
The service and food could not have been bettered either. A really great place to stay as it is right on the walkers routes.
Compliments to all, especially the kitchen crew and bar staff.
