A pleasant, quite quiet and simple site - just a big flat field really. All the pitches are grass, some with and some without electricity. We were able to choose our own pitch. There are several nice tables in the middle of a grassy area where it's good to sit and drink a coffee. There'e a small fishing pond which is attractive to look at although we don't fish. There were quite a lot of waterbirds swimming around on it.
We like to leave our motorhome on a site, and go out by foot or public transport but this site wasn't really suitable, although we did go out every day. There's a very busy narrow road outside (it does cause a bit of road noise inside too), with no pavement, and it's pretty terrifying to walk even a few yards along it in daylight. We didn't go out at night. Turning right outside, and walking 20 or 30 yards there's a footpath leading over meadows and across the Stour to the nice pub 'The Henny Swan'. You can continue on northwards from there about 5 miles to the pleasant village of Long Melford, with its two stately homes. Turning left outside the campsite and walking 150 yards or so, you come to a footpath leading up past Cornard Mere and into the Country Park.
Buses stop outside the site; there is no bus stop but you flag the bus down with a hand signal, or, on returning, ask the driver to stop. Theoretically this is good as it avoids the need to venture along the road, but the buses don't keep to their timetable. On one day the bus was 15 minutes late, and on another two scheduled buses didn't come at all so we had to wait about 1 1/2 hours. I suppose local people going to work, or with medical appointments or the like know not to trust the buses and just use their car, if they have one.
There is no shop on site, nor one anywhere we could find nearby. The reception office is not manned, but you ring a bell and somebody comes from nearby. The people who did come were friendly and helpful.
Credit cards are not taken (!); payment must be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer. The electricity worked fine. Phone signal is OK. There is no wifi, and also as far as we could see no grey water disposal point.
There are large signs in the shower block saying that showers are taken 'at our own risk'. The reason for the notices is apparent - the toilet and shower block floors, while clean, are extremely slippery if at all slightly wet.
This problem is compounded at night in the dishwashing and laundry area around the back of the building. A lamp outside its door wasn't functioning. (There should really be a movement sensitive light in this area). So it is dark entering this room, and its own interior movement sensitive light only comes on when one has already crosssed the room.
Also, the laundry machines (advertised on the site's web page) were not working when we were there and the notice saying they were 'out of order' looked suspiciously permanent.
In conclusion our stay was not too awful, but for what is offered the site charges much too high a price.

The campsite was lovely and peaceful. The toilets and showers were clean and spacious.
The children enjoyed fishing at the large pond and were pleased to find different types of fish.
There is no play area (we were aware of that) but the children had plenty of space to play.
It was well located so we could venture out and absolutely loved the local swimming pool on the very hot days.

Willowdene is the perfect place if you want relaxation in beautiful surroundings.
It had everything we needed for a perfect getaway.
Shower block and toilet area were spotless,
The pitches were well spaced and well kept.
We will definitely go again.

Excellent smallish site with clean facilities.
A friendly welcome and good location for walking and biking plus a bus route right outside the camp.
Good local pubs within walking distance.
Would return to this site - thank you for a great stay.

Pleasant peaceful site a little way from Sudbury.
No sign of any significant traffic noise from road that someone else reported.
Nice welcome.
Clean loo blocks with great showers.
Mostly level pitches.
The nearest pub (Crown) doesn't do food, and it's a bit of a hike to the next one.
Also the road immediately outside the campsite has no footpath so a bit tricky to walk after dark - or even before dark.
So probably best to plan to eat on your unit / in your tent or be prepared to drive off site to eat out.

Quiet site.
Most things on doorstep inc River walks into Sudbury where there is more than enough to entertain the likes of us.
Level pitches.
Local pub and bus stop opposite.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our plans due to family circumstances
They couldn't have been more helpful and allowed us to rebook for another time.
We have stayed there before and would highly recommend this campsite.
