We have just returned home from a 3 week trip around Norfolk and Suffolk and would like to say how much we enjoyed staying on this lovely peaceful site it was one of the best that we visited. Willowmere must have the cleanest toilet and shower block in the business. And the owners are really pleasant and helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. I can highly recommend this site, although we are 60 plus years it suited us down to the ground. Well done Willowmere.

Level site just South out of Sudbury on the B1508 - take it easy on approach as the entrance comes up quite quickly on the left.
Helpful Old Chap booked us in and helped us site 'van to be clear of impending neighbours, should they materialise.
Minimal chocking required to be purist if you want your spirits to be absolutely level.
Toilet block OK - 2 roomy shower cubicles for each gender, which could be improved with new shower heads (the showers that is).
Toilet doors had no hooks on the inside - otherwise, where do you hang your bits?
Wash basins just fine - and, yes, I agree, hand dryers with fuses removed defeat the object - remember to take a towel.
Small pond within the grounds adds pleasant effect - surrounding trees and high leylandii hedge complete the environment.
Country Park nearby worthy of a circular walk to 'round' the fields and lanes back to the site.
Walk across the fields to Henny and the Henny Swan by the Stour - nice setting for equally nice 'foody' pub. Good atmospshere and menu.
Mind the cow pats if you walk back close to dusk, or be prepared to leave your feet outside the 'van if your footfall goes wrong.
Good location for visiting Kentwell Hall at Long Melford - excellent Tudor Recreation weekends through June/July.
Also, not too distant from Dedham and Flatford Mill for Constable appreciators.
Overall - very good, would recommend.

Just got home from a 4 night stay at this site - It's a small site with some residential static caravans and park homes on one side and grass touring pitches on the other, with about 15 seasonal pitches some of which look like they had been there for about 30 years.
There are no security gates which was a bit of a worry meaning visitors could come and go unchallenged, this made us feel that we had to lock everything up if we left the site, but it was clean and tidy enough.
The toilet block was small but clean although they had taken the fuse out of both hand dryers to stop people using them as hairdryers.
The washing machine and dryer were both out of order but the dishwashing area seemed clean.
I don't understand the reviews saying the owners were welcoming and friendly as apart from smiling as she took my money, there was no sign of them!
The 'fishing on site' was a real disappointment for our kids as they were not allowed access to the fishing lake which is now private and were told they could fish in the small duck pond if they wanted to. It was a similar story with the horse riding which was supposed to be 400 yards away - its true there were horses but they were private stables with no lessons available. We chose this site because of these activities and feel a bit cheated to be honest.
There is a lovely country park behind the site to let your dogs and kids run free but if you have very small children, take care as the road is quite fast and there are no pavements.
There are nice things to do and see in the area for families but really if you are hoping to get away with parking up and staying put I wouldn't recommend this site for children over about 6 or 7 as there's nothing for them to do - our kids are 14, thank god my sister and her family live quite near so my kids had somewhere to escape to.
Our older kids were going to join us a couple of days into our stay, but we called them and told them not to bother.

Used this campsite for the first time for a visit to the beer festival at Chappel which required a 30 min. Walk to Sudbury then a short train journey, although a bus can be caught just outside the campsite. Agree with all previous comments regarding the peacefulness of the site although I was a bit apprehensive at first to see it was just outside a small built up area and the toilet block rates amongst the best I have used. Had no problems with the tent pegs and was charged £10 for two per night (prices are displayed on the office wall). Being a bit of a walker the only thing I was unhappy about was the walk to the local pubs, the road having no pavement up to THE BROOK which was mainly a food orientated pub with an excellent garden but I cannot recommend the real ales, further on is THE KINGS HEAD with slightly better beer quality although we did not eat here. For those wanting a peaceful walk away from the road take the public footpath almost opposite the campsite entrance go through the cattle field, across the railway line and river, turn right at the road and eventually you arrive at the award winning HENNY SWAN where the main emphasis is on dining. Personally I preferred the LION at Lamarsh about two miles away where the real ales were impeccable. For wild life lovers the campsite hosted Tawny Owls hooting every night and Green and Great spotted Woodpeckers were seen daily.

We stayed here for just the one night and can not fault the site or the facilities offered at £11.50 for the night for two adults two children, 2 dogs and 2 cars and electric hook up. Lovely clean site and shower block very clean and tidy. Only down side is only two showers but on a positive never had to queue and they were always hot.

We stayed here a couple of weekends ago. It is a lovely peaceful site. The toilets and showers are the cleanest I think I've ever used on a campsite. Sudbury town and Bures are worth visiting. My only criticism is that fishing was indicated as one of the facilities on site. However this information needs updating to avoid others also being disappointed. There is a lovely lake surrounded by trees, which used to be part of the site, but there is no longer any access to it from the campsite as it has been sold off. There is a very small pond on the site which we were told we could fish, but it really was more ornamental.

We have visited Willowmere virtually every year for the last 14 years, don't ask me why, It is the quietest place you could wish for, it is a family run place about five acres, flat field, immaculate toilet / shower block, day trips out in the surrounding area offer great villages, pubs. If you want a place to just be, then this is it, quiet, pleasant surroundings, nice people who leave you to be yourself. The only draw back it trying to get pegs into the ground to tether the awning???? Long may we return

This site is lovely and quiet everybody friendly. The toilet blocks were always clean and tidy along with the site. Prices were good. Will be returning to the site. It was our first time camping and it was a great site to choose, the children loved it. If you enjoy fishing the pond is great to sit and relax by we. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves town not to far away.

I have been camping/caravanning for over 30 years - this place has the cleanest, most pleasant toilet facilities I can remember. The staff are so helpful and friendly, too. Although the site has no shop or other facilities - my son and I really didn't care. It had a nice, friendly atmosphere and was a good base - we thoroughly recommend it!

Excellent site. Extremely reasonably priced, although charged different prices depending who served you. No childrens play area, but a large grassed area for ball games etc. Outstandingly clean toilets and showers, although only 2 showers for each sex. Friendly and helpful owners. Would definitely recommend.
