A get away from it all site in beautiful countryside

With stunning far reaching views. Immerse yourself in the sounds of the countryside and relax. This site suited us just fine. We have no need of EHU, the site has none.

The shower and toilet block, which is unisex, was fresh and entirely functional and was regularly cleaned. The kitchen and washing up room had everything we needed. Sinks and drainers with hot and cold water. Fridge and freezer for cold blocks and essentials. Toaster, kettle and microwave together with ability to charge your phone.

There was an excellent 4G signal which never wavered. If you need or want them the owners sell farm fresh eggs and provide breakfasts at a fairly reasonable cost.

They also sell wood ( and firelighters and matches!) for the fire pit which which pitch is provided with. Each pitch also comes with a picnic table.

Great site to bring a dog to with proper dog walks from your tent. If course being a farm you will need to keep your dog under close control.

By my reckoning these services make this far more than a basic camp site. Maybe one can best describe it as Super Deluxe Basic Campsite.

Things you should be aware of. The single lane track/road to the site from Bishops castle is long and tortuous with few passing places. The roads generally are from an other era and require careful and patient navigation.

There is no WIFi on site but quite honestly who would want to watch a screen with the beauty there is in offer at every vista. The site is on a working farm so do not expect manicured lawns.

Great site for our type of camper ie and older couple with a dog and no children. The area, South West Shropshire, is beautiful. We had a lovely relaxing camping break here.

Highly recommended.

This is a stunningly peaceful and tranquil campsite with beautiful views and very good facilities. We looked across farmland to Long Mynd and enjoyed the numerous kites and buzzards flying over.

We camped at the top of the first field, where it was largely flat. Certainly in appearance, and in comparison with the surrounding countryside, it was flat, but when it came to sleeping, it proved not to be quite so!

Definitely not a complaint, just worth noting, so you take care when pitching. Very glad we chose to be at the top of that field as the view would have been partly obscured by the hedge had we been at the bottom and we really loved sitting at the table over supper admiring the view.

Having a picnic table per pitch was a real bonus and the fire pit too. It was brilliant to have the kitchen and free use of the fridge and freezer was great, as well as being able to charge various devices.

As mentioned in another review, the lights in the loos and showers had rather short timers and we often found ourselves in the dark having to wave our arms madly to try to trigger the light again. The environmental and financial justification for the timers is clear, but a little longer would be worth it for the guests. It was surprisingly difficult to trigger them at times and as there were no windows in either the loos or showers, it was very dark at times! The showers were fine.

The farm is at the end of a long and narrow road and there are plenty of footpaths taking you to Bishops castle which took us about 40-50 minutes, without hurrying. We went to a couple of the pubs, with lovely locally brewed beer and tried the curry house for a take away, which was lovely too. We would have eaten in The Three Tuns, but it was fully booked - worth knowing, if you'd like to go! The menu and food we saw looked lovely.

The only thing which was slightly disappointing was the length of the grass. It was far longer than anywhere we've camped before - above ankle length which in dry conditions is ok, but when it's wet with dew (or rain!) it's frustrating to get so wet every time you go to the loo. On our last evening they cut the grass, but not all of it, so maybe they didn't see it as a problem, and we should have mentioned it. Some people had wellies, and we wished we had brought them too.

The breakfast was great and good value.

We enjoyed visiting Ludlow and Shrewsbury and had fab walks in particular, on Stiperstones and Long Mynd among others. Beautiful part of the country and we really recommend this site. It was utterly relaxing to be somewhere so peaceful.

Really lovely place. Good facilities, lots of space.

Firepit on every pitch. Very friendly owners. We had a great stay.

Really close to Bishop's castle town and some lovely pubs.

Will definitely visit again soon.

Wow. What a campsite. Absolutely stunning, proper rural.

The facilities were ample and clean, but that doesn't even matter when as pretty as this.

Accessed via long, bumpy farm track - so leave your sports car at home.

Mary is a wonderful host and from the initial booking was exceptionally helpful.

The campsite is in a completely rural setting where the only sounds you will hear are the animals on the local farms.

The facilities were spotless and there is even a kitchen complete with microwave, kettle and 2 fridge freezers along with phone charging points.

There are fire pits and picnic benches for each pitch and logs can be bought on site. Mary does an absolutely wonderful belly busting Full English Farmer's Breakfast for only £7! If you are looking for peace and rural tranquillity with uninterrupted views across fields and valleys then this is the place to come.

Must visit Bishop's castle - excellent pubs including the beer garden at the castle Hotel and the Three Tuns and Six Bells. Lots of quaint quirky shops and an excellent local butchers.

Good local walks from the campsite and the surrounding areas.

This site could be a real gem.

It’s set in a working farm at the top of a single track road. The first bend has a big drop where the track has worn away which we went down to avoid the pot holes on the other side- it is deep enough to tear a tyre or damage your suspension so be aware.

There are two camping fields - the area is naturally hilly but if you camp at the top or bottom of either field it’s ok. Views are beautiful, especially if you choose to camp at the top of the field. The silence at night (apart from the farm animals) is bliss and I’ve never seen so many stars, simply wonderful.

The wooden benches and free fire pits are a welcome addition, although the fire pit nearest out tent was full of discarded cigarette ends, dirty tissues and bits of rubbish.

My only real disappointment was with the cleanliness of the facilities. Rusty shower poles, something grim growing in the bottom left hand corner of the last shower, empty air freshener sprays in the toilet cubicles, and old cobwebs and dead flies in the toilets window and above the door which were not cleaned away once during our stay. - it just gave the impression of not being cleaned thoroughly.

As I said at the beginning of this review, this site could be a little gem but as it is now, despite all the positives, I wouldn’t return.

Really lovely site - great views across valley. First class facilities.

Kitchen area for dishwashing also with two big fridge freezers, kettle and a microwave.

Pitches at top of field level, each with a picnic table and fire ‘pit’. Shame there’s no hookups.

Great walking direct from site but a fair way back into town for supplies.

Just come home from a couple of nights stay at this beautiful campsite.

Found a lovely spot in which to pitch our camper and awning. The views are amazing and miles of well marked footpaths to walk. Showers and Toilets spotless.

We didn’t use the kitchen other then to get water but a lovely addition to the campsite.

A few other campers on the site but still lovely and quite.

A lovely setting amidst the farm.

The facilities were great, clean toilets and showers and a well equipped indoor kitchen.

We enjoyed a walk around the nearby wood and a full English breakfast cooked by Mary.
