We had an absolutely lovely 4 days in the Shropshire countryside. This site is excellent - the facilities are great - fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, really nice loos.
Also really lovely to be able to have a glass of wine and light the fire. We are definetly returning!

Stayed here for one night to try out our new tent and we will definitely return.
The views couldnt be beaten, we visited on a lovely sunny weekend and there was lots space to choose to put our tent up. The facilities were very clean 2 large shower rooms, it was nice that toilets had loo roll and soap provided. Kitchen had microwave, toaster fridge and freezer !
Our 2 Dogs (labs) loved the walks and the amount of space they could have on their long leads by our tent. We all loved sitting around our fire at night and relaxing with a bottle of wine and toasted marshmallows.
We would recommend this site for anyone wanting to get away from it all in the beautiful Shropshire countryside.

Fantastic views from second field - got up at 5am to watch the sun rise it was so beautiful! Amazing walks, lovely clean facilities and very helpful, friendly owners. One of the best campsites I have ever been to. Lots of space and peace and quiet. You can bring your horse on holiday here which I would love to do.

This is my favourite campsite. New, clean facilities, very friendly owners, working farm to look at, beautiful views, amazing breakfast, loads of room, no petty rules, and above all, peace. What a refreshing change to come across people who aren't packing in as many tents as possible or measuring the distance between you to 'comply with fire regulations'. They even let you borrow ice packs while yours are re-freezing! Bishop's Castle is great for real ale and the co-op is well stocked. You can download walks and bike rides from the town's website. This was the first of many visits!

The site was excellent, easily the best we've been to in a long time. The Site: A number of fields to choose from. There will only ever be around ten lots of people camping due to the owners restricting numbers to make it more pleasant for campers. If you camp at the top of the second field the view is magnificent. Tranquillity is the tone to this camp site, even though it's a working farm everywhere is so quiet and peaceful, ideal for relaxing and absorbing the countryside. The nearest town is Bishops Castle and is 1.7 miles from the campsite, which is small but has a supermarket, numerous pubs and a petrol station. Facilities: Two big clean power showers and three clean toilets. All built within the last 10 months. There is never a queue due to the numbers of campers being kept down. Small kitchen is available with washing up facilities (liquid, drainer and sponge supplied), microwave and freezer - all free of charge. Kids won't get bored due to the extensive land to play games on, Molly the horse, the chickens and the big pig all in close proximity to each other. Mary and Steve also offer cooked breakfast and dinner at a small cost and they're willing to make anything you want!

For my dads belated 70th birthday, that falls in January, my sister and I combined forces, and bought the "all you will ever need to survive and relax for camping" kit. Needless to say he did both and so did I, but that was largely down to the campsite and it's owners, mary and steve austin and the three sams' who were more than generous in their genuine welcome to Shropshire and their 'neck of the woods'. The site is spacious, being allowed to 'interact' with their animals is great learning, (Piggy is a georgeous girl, Molly a gentle giant), and the campsite bathrooms are more spacious than those in a three storey house in South London,(I text from 20 years exp). A truely lovely part of the world that I and more of my family are looking forward to returning to, especially now that bed and breakfast is on the cards there also.

There is only one thing that I can say about this site and that is its the best that I have ever been on. The site is a bit sloping but the views far outweigh this. The loo's and showers are clean and homely. The kitchen is what you would wish for.
Mary, Steve and little Sam are great and so helpful they make your stay so easy. The dinner in the farm house was an experience not to be missed - the lamb was mmmmmmmmmm. Sat round the table talking and eating for a time that went so fast
Bishops castle is my dream town and this site just adds to my world

Well, this was my return to Middle Woodbatch and what a return it was! After my last visit I have remained in touch with Steve & Mary and dare say it become friends. I even have a nickname 'Woodpecker'! I spent two weeks in April on the farm helping with this years Lambing. It was truly an eye opener for me and an exhausting one at that. I think the only thing that kept me going as the great home cooked food and appreciation for my efforts from the hosts. In between lambing, calving, moving sheep, counting sheep, giving birth to sheep, feeding & watering sheep at all hours of the day and night I still had time to take in all of the countryside around me and to feel part of 'the farm' & the local community. A truly 'Ewe Inspiring' experience made all the better by two genuinely friends hosts. Over this summer holiday I'm spending another fortnight camping at MW and going to see how all my little lambs (about 450) are doing ?

We visited here with two other families, all with children from 14 months to 6 years, and had a wonderful weekend.
Perched high up on a hill it reminded me of James Herriot's rolling dales. The wonderful views of the hills stretched for many miles, and you could see the sun and clouds progress as sun and shadows passed over the hills and the cattle.
The children had a wonderful time looking around the farm, especially Piggy the Pig, and lots of fun playing on the field together. The field had around ten tents on, at full capacity for the site, on a field which many sites would pack 30 or more. We had all the space we wanted, and some to spare, and plenty of choice when pitching.
The field is on quite a slope, though there are areas which are less inclined, , with very long grass, but which despite rain didn't get soggy, and provided a nice soft surface one we had trodden it down.
The 2 bathrooms were lovely and very large with hot showers (£1 honesty box), and a large area to dry etc, without standing on the same wet floor you showered on, struggling in a small cubicle. It was nice to have liquid soap and hand towels provided - it felt like a home from home.
Mary and Steve are very friendly, and their young son played with our children a lot when we were there. Bishops Castle is a lovely little village, with a couple of nice pubs, and you could take some nice walks around the farm and surrounding area (the Shropshire Way runs through the farm).
The journey took us about 100 minutes from South Birmingham on a Friday evening, and with children free and £5 per night for adults, it was a cheap weekend away (except for the trip to Harry Puffins Farmers Supermarket - who sell almost everything!).
I've never really understood camping or holidaying away from the sea, but with the breadth of view from the campsite, it captures for me something of the elemental vastness and depth of the sea, in the hills themselves.
This is a wonderful farm and campsite, and we fully intend to return more than once for the weekend this summer.

What a great campsite if you like to be on a working farm and near a lovely market town. The experience is essentially about being part of rural life for a while and enjoying simple things like no artificial light or noise pollution. The showers and toilets are very good and kept clean. The kitchen is very useful especially as it has a microwave - our near empty gas cylinder would have taken hours to cook the children's supper! The welcome and hospitality was excellent and we had the opportunity to catch up on local rural issues over a splendid farmhouse breakfast, local sourcing of course! Building improvements are continuing in order to add bed and breakfast but this didn't affect our stay in any way. With lots to discover and mountain bike trails in the forests yet to be explored we'll be back.
