What a lovely peaceful site. Only a limited number of pitches and a huge field. We were given the option of using a smaller field as the main field was getting full (about 8 tents !) but we chose to stay in the main field, as we were one of the last to arrive it was difficult to find a reasonably flat area for our big tent but it was acceptable. Lovely views across uninterrupted countryside.
The facilities were really good, lovely showers but it was a surprise at first to find that the toilet and shower block was unisex!.
The washing up area was excellent with a fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and microwave available for our use.
It is a bit of a drag into the village but it is walkable in about 30 minutes and we did enjoy a meal and a drink in the village.
We had our bikes with us and the owner was very accommodating and let us lock them in the stable to keep them secure and dry.
The owners were very helpful and friendly.
DO NOT use the postcode to find the place PLEASE follow the directions on the website.
This is a lovely area of Shropshire very quiet with plenty of walking and cycling options.
Would recommend this site to anyone who wants to get away from it all but not if you are used to sites that have lots of facilities.

Visited the site as a last minute decision to get away and wasn't disappointed. Middle wood batch is a Lovely campsite at the top of a hill so you get wonderful views. It is a bit of a walk out of the village but there's always a taxi! It is on a working farm so there will be animal noises however. The Owners were very friendly and the facilities are faultless, the shower block is the best that I have seen in a campsite.

Just come back from a lovely weekend at Middle Woodbatch Farm. The facilities are spotlessly clean and there was plenty of hot water in the showers and for washing up. We pitched our tent at the top of the field and there were panoramic views of the surrounding countryside across to the Long Mynd. We enjoyed seeing the farm animals and listening to the owls at night. The last night of our stay was very wet and windy but the pitch was well-drained. There were also take-away breakfasts available if you brought your own plate which was a great idea!
We had some great meals (and beer) in some of the local pubs, it's a decent walk to the town and back but that made us feel better about eating loads of chips!
There are many lovely walks nearby for all abilities and we had a lovely day out at the Visitor Centre in Craven Arms and the Cardingmill Valley which are both a short drive away.
We hope to return to this lovely campsite soon.

Fantastic site with great quality facilities. Quite a way from Bishop's Castle so walking to a pub isn't really an option but when it's this good you wouldn't want to leave anyway.
Field is quite sloping but only ten pitches are allowed so there is lots of room and it is quite possible to find somewhere level to sleep without too much hassle. Great site for kids- loads of room for kites and general running around. Wonderful views across the valley, and a lovely quiet place: no music allowed, hurrah!
Excellent clean unisex washrooms- three showers, three loos, three sinks. Push button operation on everything so no fiddling with 20ps, and gallons of lovely hot water!
Also a really nice basic kitchen: three washing up sinks (more lovely hot water), fridge/freezer, microwave and kettle.
If that didn't make your life easy enough you can also buy a takeaway fried breakfast for a fiver- just bring your own plate!
Fires are allowed using the firepits provided to avoid burning the grass. You can bring your own wood or buy bags for 3 quid each- bargain!
Very friendly owners who have obviously really thought about what makes a good site. We'll be back!

Just had a lovely - if extremely cold - weekend with Steve and Mary and the sheep at Middle Woodbatch Farm. The farm is right at the end of a leafy lane which winds through the Shropshire hills - it feels very remote and is extremely peaceful - except for the animals!
Our three boys loved the large open camping field which we had to ourselves - not surprising given that it was -3 degrees one night. Camp fire was a necessary perk.
We got to round up sheep and help with lambing which fulfilled a lifetime's ambition.
There is a newly level area of the camping field at the top which should help campers avoid the slope when it is available in a few weeks.
Shower room / loos were very clean - but there are only two so when the camp site is full, even with only 10 tents, there may be an uncomfortable wait if you are desperate. £1 charge for shower seemed a bit steep, given that they weren't the most powerful in the world and the rooms are very chilly.
Camp kitchen was nice touch - there is a kettle, fridge and microwave for campers use, plus 1 sink for washing up.
There are pleasant walks to be had direct from the camp site, so no need to get into the car for a few days which was good too.
All in all, a lovely camping retreat on a friendly working farm.

Super Site!
Stayed for for days with my 5 year-old son and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The facilities were great. We choose to stay at more basic sites so having a campers kitchen was a real luxury. Great to be able to keep milk and meat! The toilets and showers were super. Kept clean and very big so we could both go in together, which was nice.
It is a working farm and was harvest time so we spent lots of time watching the farmer stack the hay! His wife was very friendly and always there to help.
Having free use of their fire pits was key and fantastic as we had the most amazing non-spoilt views. Wood was also cheaper than most places, at £3 a bag.
Yes, the site is very sloping but who cares. Sleep with your head uphill! It also made a fun and energetic game of chasing the ball down the hill and walking back up again a million times!
We explored the local areas of Clun, which was a fantastic little village with a lovely castle ruin. We also ventured to Stokesay Castle and surrounding villages, which I can also highly recommend.
All in all, great value and a super time!

Stayed for a week - wish it had been longer. Loads of room for the kids to play, excellent facilities and very helpful hosts.
The main camping field is on a bit of a slope but there were flatter areas at the bottom for our trailer tent. Farmer even helped to drive our car/trailer tent up the field when we left - I'm a city driver not used to hills/grass!
Make sure you don't use satnav to get there - you'll end up at another farm with a very steep hill to get back up. Local lanes are quite narrow with tall hedges which made driving interesting at harvest time.
Visited Ludlow, Welshpool and Ironbridge while we were there, as well as exploring the local villages. Bishop's Castle has at least 6 pubs and 2 breweries. '6 Bells' pub/brewery was excellent value for money, excellent beer and created a children's menu for us.

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. Bit of a mixed review so here goes;
On arrival no-one was around and no answer at the house. After a while the owners friendly little boy turned up on his bike & told us where the toilets/showers were and just to pitch anywhere in the field, the owners came around a bit later and collected the money.
Other reviews say field is slightly sloping - I would say more than slightly - only flat areas are at the bottom of the field so if you get there late you might be unlucky and get the slope! On the plus side the views are fantastic!
We have 2 small children (16 months & 4yrs) and I don't think this site is ideal for young families - I knew there wasn't a play area which didn't bother us as the kids are happy to play in the field but the slope made this difficult with ball games tricky. Also a safety note - the fence at the bottom of the field has barbed wire running along the top which is within reach of toddler little fingers.
The campers kitchen was useful with a microwave / fridge / freezer but only one sink so got a bit crowded after meal times! The shower rooms where good and useful for families and while the toilets were clean the sinks/taps could have been paid a bit more attention. Lots of hooks and bench/chair to put all your stuff on.
Being able to have an open fire was great and the wood a reasonable price at £3. 00 a net which gave us a good fire for a couple of hours.
I would say this site is great for couples or families with older children but I wouldn't recommend for young families.

If you want to go somewhere where the loudest sounds are tweet, tweet, tweet. Baa, baa, baa and moooo then Middle Woodbatch Farm is the place to come. Even the children on site were quiet.
The approach to the farm is long and windy but fun to drive and upon reaching the farm the views are amazing.
The owners, Mary & Steven Austin are very welcoming and when you find a spot on the field it is really hard not to relax and take in the tranquillity of the place.
The facilities are really good with two toilets/showers and a kitchen for washing up and with a fridge, freezer and microwave if you need them.
Bishops Castle is a wonderful town. The pubs serve real ale and really good food. The surrounding areas of stunning countryside are worth exploring whether on foot or by car.
To sum up. Go! It'll be worth it. We will be returning.

We went to this site for two nights in a tent with 4 adults and a dog. This is our second visit to the site after going last year as well.
The site is very small with two fields for tents. We stayed in the small field this time which is near to the facilities because the last time we stayed in the larger field but the grass had not been cut and it rained so we got very wet. The site only had 3 tents there so it was very quiet.
The field has a tap near the gate and a shower block close by. There are two wet rooms in what looks like an old barn with a toilet and shower in both. The rooms are really nice and clean and the showers are always warm. You do have to pay £1 into an honesty box for the shower. I have never had to queue for the toilet or shower even though there are only 2. I think the owners limit how many people stay at the site.
The best thing about the site is that you can have an open fire. You do have to have it in a firepit that is provided though and you can buy wood off the owners.
It is about a half an hour walk into Bishops Castle along either a single track road or across fields. We have done both and it is a nice walk. There are about 6 pubs in the town. The best is the 3 Tuns which allows dogs inside and does good food. The Six Bells is also good but I haven't eaten there. There's also other pubs in Clun that do good food.
This is a very good campsite which I will return to.
