Well, we read the reviews before heading off and were very surprised by what we found. The previous reviews gave us impressions of a very poor site but it was perfect. It was out of the way of the main towns which was nice. The toilet blocks were clean (yes the toilet paper is tracing paper but if quality loo roll was put in there, wouldn't we all moan that it was soggy?!) shower blocks very clean and the cubicles were of a good size - what else do you do in there but shower?? The laundry and was-up room was clean and had 2 wash-up points - the field itself was ideal - not too big and not too small. The fish & chips were fab! All in all it got a 9/10 - only a 9 because we weren't there long enough!

Well I have to admit the old adage of you pay for what you get is certainly true. The camp site basically consists of two large fields, with a couple of water stand pipes in the centre. The toilet complex is adequate but, like all the other reviewers, where did they did that toilet paper....it certainly reminded me of the toilet paper I used to have to suffer in school in the 1970's! The shower complex only has 3 showers which I can imagine could cause a few problems when the site is full.
Also the railway line is near by and so you can hear the sound of the train and the level crossing on a frequent basis but its not too much of a problem if the truth was known.
The main drawback of the site though is that there is no shop for basic provisions and there didn't appear to be any near by either.
Having said all this, on the positive side the fields are large enough for children to play without causing any major disturbance and for £7 a night with electric hook up a stay there won't break the bank either.

I stayed at this site many times in the eighties when I first started camping and returned recently for the first time in fifteen years. It is still a good site in a great location and is ideal for exploring Pembrokeshire with its beautiful coastline. The owners were helpful and the site was clean and well kept, but the showers had been replaced since I was last there and they are now far too small for my liking. If you don't mind leaving your clothes outside and throwing your towel over the door you will not have a problem, but if (like myself) you prefer to undress in the cubicle in privacy and hang up your clothes without getting them soaked you will be disappointed. Also, toilet paper from a 1950s army camp is not really acceptable these days!
Despite my comments I would use this site again because it is generally very good but will use the shower in my caravan as there's more room in that! I will also definitely be taking my own loo paper!

August 2005 Well…..we stayed here for a week and we were not that impressed! The campsite is on fairly uneven ground, with unmarked pitches (go wherever you want) and long grass when we were there. At the top of the campsite is the Manorbier train station and level crossing. So great if you want to get around, but not so good with the ‘train coming’ warning that happens once an hour well into the evening.
The facilities were OK, with washing up room/washing machine/tumble drier and fridge freezer you could use (for the sum of £2). The toilets and showers were never particularly clean (even after the cleaner had been in?!), with no soap provided anywhere. The showers are free, but of the push-button type that meant that if you weren’t on the ball the shower went cold! With only 3 showers for the whole campsite, there was a fair amount of queuing to be done in peak season. There are 2 free hair drying points, and I think a shaver point in the gents.
The campsite is very close to Manorbier beach which is lovely, and just a short drive down the coast is Tenby (with huge beaches), Freshwater west, and two national trust beaches that are just out of this world. Cant fault the site for location.
Never actually managed to eat at the fish and chip van as it was always closed, but we were assured that it was good stuff. We were quoted £8.50 a night to stay (just one basic tent pitch) but when we arrived (on the day we said we would) they tried to sting us for £10 a night. And continued to try every time we went back to pay for more nights! I didn’t find them that friendly to be honest. And they weren’t joking about the toilet roll, its definitely finest quality tracing paper. Don’t forget to bring your own!
This campsite’s name will be changed to “Arreton” in Jan 2006.

July 2004 Cheap site, lots of space and a great fish and chip van. Toilets/ showers were a big letdown. The shower cubicles are very small, the hot water is free but on a 20 second timer (my daughter counted!) I would hate to use them with a toddler in tow, but okay for older kids. Hard toilet roll, an interesting mismatch of toilets and no soap in the toilet blosck. When I pointed out to the owners that it is good for children to wash their hands after using the facilities , they did put some liquid soap in there- I gather that when they used to provide it, it was stolen.

July 2004 Friendly family run site excellent value for money. Lots of space and privacy. Take your own soft toilet roll. Central to a wide range of attractions in the area. Added bonus of the best chipshop in town!!!!

August 2003 Mostly family friendly site (although my daughters were told off for singing in the laundry and not rugby songs) Two large fields gently sloping. Reasonable toilets, but ouch that toilet paper. Shower cubicles, smaller than a toilet cubicle, so awkward to shower and change. At times noisy neighbours, a neighbour who likes to shoot clays, another neighbour who likes scrambling and a nearby site with a club. The club has entertainment every night which is clearly audible from Buttyland, the karaoke night was particulary painful. Oh and don't forget the nearby train ( although that didn't really bother me that much). Beautiful surrounding countryside, and quite simply spoilt for choice for beaches.

May 2003 A lovely site! Quiet, with beautifully clean toilets and showers. No shop, though the local village shop is excellent, no clubhouse, no gamesroom - bliss! Beautiful countryside, too. We will certainly be going again.

aug 2002 A warm and welcoming Family run site. Mostly quite. Small but well looked after toilets and showers. One of the cheapest sites in or around pembrokeshire. Pet friendly owners, but they do insist that all dogs be kept on leads. Ample playing field for children. Large pet walking area. Central to most areas of interest. Superb sandy beaches within walking distance.

August 23rd - 26th Low pitch price. Two fields - slightly undulating. Smelly toilets. Poor showers. Hell of a racket from nearby club well into the night.
