We came to Buttyland for 2 nights over the Jubilee weekend with 2 tents holding a total of 4 adults, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old. When we came to book our weekend the staff were fantastic, very friendly and accommodating of our needs, despite a number of phone calls from us to clarify our requirements.
Upon arrival the staff were again very friendly and directed us to the field for the free-pitch (non-electrical), where we found what we thought would be a nice quiet spot. Unfortunately our experience went downhill and stayed there for the rest of the stay.
The first night we had a group of 6 gents in the tent next to us who stayed up talking until about 1am. We are not prudes by any stretch, but the noise and chatter was ridiculous. The rule on the campsite is allegedly no music and quieten down ('respect your campers') at 10pm, but there is no night management at all, and so we were left, miles away from the office.
Tenby itself is absolutely great, there is a local 'Dino Park' which the kids loved, and would be great for kids up to early teens (some of the rides are great for adults). The town itself is lovely too, with some beautiful scenery around the area, and some great pubs to eat in. Our site was based in Manobiere, which is handy for Tenby.
Unfortunately the second night was worse than the first as a large group of around 30 turned up whilst we were on our day out and proceeded to play loud music until 3:30am, and loud drinking games, including one loud mouthed individual boasting about rubbing his 'bits' over those less ridiculous individuals who had gone to bed at 1am. There were several families around, but no one said anything as the group was large and very drunk, and again no management of the situation at all from the site management because we were out of ear shot in the far field.
In terms of the facilities there are basic toilet and shower provision. The showers were hot and clean, as were the toilets. There is laundry and washing provision as well but not enough for a busy site. There is no shop which is not great, but you can get milk and fresh bread via the 'chippy van' which is open on the weekends, and seemed very busy at all times that it was open.
Overall a less than satisfactory experience on what could be quite a nice site if the nights were managed better, and a few essential items were available.

Just got back from Buttyland what a fab site. Some people need to remember they are camping after all, it is really clean and very helpful happy staff. Great showers 50p for 7 mins and you have to pay £3 pn for a gazebo. There is also a freezer unit there you can use for £2 per night, I thought that was a bit of a rip off but there we go.
Lovely little pub on the site with a pool table 50p a go which is great. Lush chippy there £1. 50 per bag. We pitched opposite a very friendly couple who have been on the site for 7 years with their caravan and they kindly pumped up our beds for us, people are really nice there.
The owner comes around the site quite often checking everything is ok we sat outside our tents till 2.30am laughing and joking and it wasn't a problem. We will defo return to this site

Spent Easter at this lovely campsite. Tucked away down a lane so nice and quiet. Shown to our pitch but asked to change and was politely given another option. Lots of EHU, s and a big play field for the children. Although they did tend to play around the units which could be a bit dangerous with trailing leads along the floor. Chip shop and bar on site. Chips were nice but the fish we had was not fresh or had been reheated. Didn't use the bar so no comment. Noise was kept down and hardly any after 11pm. Showers were new and very nice. Push button operation and 50p for about seven minutes. Toilets cleaned regularly but wash basins operated by same push button operation and only a small amount of water released each time. Overall a very nice, quiet, friendly site.

Simple, Basic, Convenient & Cheap(ish)!
More importantly, friendly staff who are will ing to help (even bailing and trenching at 2AM during the worst rain ever experienced).
Yes the showers can be tepid (try using them 'out of hours' - when they're fine)!
Yes the washing facilities are basic (your camping remember!)
And yes the toilets can 'hum' a little - but if certain individuals haven't got the basics of the flush system, and how to tidy up after themselves then who can you blame.
We used this site as a trial for our new tent and the experience of camping and seeing how it is only 90 mins down the road from us (biased) then to discover Pembrokeshire it's fine.
I'm sure with a few quid spent on it, it could be very pleasing!

Lovely welcome when we arrived and looks a spacious yet basic site ideal for families. The field we pitched on was great, flat and well looked after. The small cafe and bar are great. Sadly toilet cleanliness is very high on our agenda when camping and this did not meet our standards (though had worse), the basin in toilet is SCALDING water and very dangerous for kids, the showers are cold after heavy use but seems they are getting a new boiler system next year. The toilet itself could do with an extra check or two. Only four cubicles yet one had no toilet seat all the week we stayed, only making three available, for the sake of a tenner and ten minutes to fit it, why not sort it quickly???
In good distance to Tenby and the Marinibear (sp) is beautiful.
Overall yes we will revisit but not until the boiler is replaced!

Stayed for three weeks in August on an electric tent pitch. The Good Points.
Owner seems a nice bloke and his little lady assistant is very welcoming and always working. Both fields are flat and have nice aspects.
The owner seems to think the site runs on 6amp but we were getting 10 even though the site was busy. Sky sports available in the small bar but with only canned beer.
Manorbier a pleasant mile walk with a good food and real ale pub. Jameston also a mile away has two food pubs one very child friendly but road very busy and narrow and not worth risking it. Manorbier has a nice little beach popular with surfers.
The Bad Points.
The whole side with the bar, showers and toilets on needs demolishing and rebuilding. Toilet broken for three weeks while I was there, and not very clean at all. Showers extremely narrow hence difficult. Go early because the boiler isn't up to the job, facilities look like a large shed.
We would go again when facilities improve hope the owner can get the finance to improve things.

We love this site!
This was the second time for us to visit here and what a change, the owners have worked so hard with the improvements they have made they have extended the site so it's almost twice as big and now have a lovely small club house and take away.
The site is well maintained and the owners very friendly and always happy to help, toilets and showers are always clean and always have toilet roll in them.
There is a train station just up the lane and a garden centre and holiday park across the road, you do need to travel by ether car or train if you want to go anywhere as there is not much around the area but this was fine with us.
Manobier beach is a 5 min drive away and it's lovely and they allow dogs all year round (unlike the beach at tendy and saundersfoot).
Will return again for another weekend next year.

When we visited for 3 nights (only stayed for 2) there were well over 100 caravans and tents in one field plus tents in another field. There were only 3 showers in ladies and gents and only one handbasin in toilet block.
Facilities were very basic and there was no bucket n mop to clean shower out after you so they became grubby through use. There were also ques and showers often cold.
The pitches, though reasonably sized were too close together
The grounds were well maintained. Overall this site is not one for us, better suited to families perhaps.

Last came here in 2007 and a lot has changed since then. Still a great area and friendly staff.
The site now has a club house and games room as well as meals morning and evening, when the chip van is closed.
Toilets and showers were clean but I can imagine they would get very busy in the main holidays as only three showers in the each washroom.
My biggest concern was our electric hook-up which tripped out all the time. We even replaced our kettle, (£30), before finding the socket next to it worked fine.

Smashing reception from the owner and staff. Facilities a little basic but lovely and clean. Showers really nice and hot, despite reading other reviews, and it was a busy time of year!
Grounds well kept with lovely flower displays. Brilliant breakfast at 'The Shack' on site, and a great facility for the evenings when we wanted a beer and meal/ and a bit of TV/ back ground music.
Great location for both the bus and train. Looking forward to my return visit in August. Many thanks again to the staff for making our stay such a pleasant one.
