I enjoyed my stay here. There were problems with the facilities as described already. The hot water tap for the shower just needs a strap to keep it on while you're showering *wink* . I was lost for somewhere to put my razor and shower gel - definitely needs a small simple shelf in there. Yup, that's my only complaint! If you want luxury get a hotel, if you want basic facilities at a reasonable price, this place is just fine.

The staff worked very hard and were nice and very well meaning.
The weather was poor and did not help, however due to the poor quality of the fields and pitches the owners would not let you park near your pitch and in the car park. This rule was even applied to people wishing to pitch and strike their tents.
The showers were never warm, the washing area was quite unsuitable for the number of people using them.
The area may be good in fair weather, you really do have to use your car to get anyway safely, all other local attractions are either over subscribed and or expensive. That said the council swimming pool in Tenby was cheap and had really nice warm showers.
What was excellent though was the on site chip shop, and as mentioned above the attitude of the staff who would often go out of their way to assist. I just think they need to spend a bit more on getting the basics right such as drainage, pitches, access, car park volume, and the supply of warm water to the showers.

We love this site, as it is nice and big for the kids to play in. It is also nice and quiet and close to the beach.
There are a few small downsides though, the showers are always cold and there is nowhere to hang your clothes up so they don't get wet. Also the electric keeps tripping if you have more than a fridge on.
I have heard that he is upgrading the electric and adding more points which will be a bonus.
Other than that all I can say is this is a nice site to go visit for families as its price is reasonable and there is a big space for the kids to play.

Just back from a week staying at Buttyland. It was a bit of a gamble that paid off - the weather was great (apart from a couple of wet nights).
The location of Buttyland is great - about a 20min walk from Manorbier Village, which has a good shop and a cosy pub that serves reasonably priced food. The beach is great, and there is a castle overlooking it - v. Picturesque. It's well placed for the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline, and there are good walks in the area (you can walk to Tenby and get the train back to Manorbier Station which is 2 mins from Buttyland)
The campsite itself is peaceful (although the Manorbier country park over the road has a very loud disco on Saturday nights) and the sound of the train going past every couple of hours is strangely relaxing. There was some sheep's poo around, which meant you had to select your pitch very carefully! There are some hookups available, but none were free during our stay.
Camp fires are allowed, if in a metal container raised off the ground. Our portable BBQ was ideal for this, and there was loads of dead wood in the hedges suitable for burning. My boys (and me!) loved this part.
There are a few negative points, which could be fixed with a bit of attention to detail, e.G.
- label the hot taps 'hot' and 'Cold' rather than use whatever was to hand. Tap labelling is a bit 'random' - put hooks up in the shower cubicles to hang your clothes on - put a bigger sink in the mens toilets - Put shelves above the sink in the mens washrooms so you can put your stuff on them. - do something with the shower plumbing. They are powerful enough, but the hot water is operated with one of those plunger things that requires pressing every 5 seconds. Failure to do so punishes you with a freezing blast of cold water (which is operated by a tap).
Generally, the washing facilities could have been better, and for the size of site, 3 shower cubicles for each sex would be very busy in peak season - you have been warned!
Other areas for improvement - the washing machine didn't work too well for me, and the games room was a bit grim.
However, lets put this into context - I only paid £12 per night, and we had a fantastic, relaxing week. The owner was very friendly, and the chippy at the entrance was convenient (as was the tea room in the garden centre opposite).
So, if you can put up with the irritations of the washing facilities, I'm sure you will have a good time here. I'm still not sure about the name though.

I arrived at the site on 0ct 20 to spend 5 nights, and it was raining heavily, however the owner was very friendly and even offered me a lift into Manorbier village, where I was able to dry off and get a lovely evening meal.
The site was clean, and empty just how I like it! Yes the facilities were basic (however the showers were fantastic!) you don't go to a campsite for £12 a night and expect the Ritz! I had a great time and can't wait to go back, I had a lovely time there

We stayed for 4 nights just before the bank holiday weekend. We didn't have to queue for the toilets and showers or washing up.
When we arrived, there was a queue and I had to wait 10-15 mins at reception outside in the rain while he poked his head out of his window to check people in. He made a big thing about the noise curfew (which he didn't even enforce, although I did enjoy listening to the guy singing and playing his guitar) - more important information, such as where I could buy a pint of milk and freeze ice-packs, would have been better. One plus point is that the fish & chip van just outside the site was very good.
The website says 'excellent showers' - a small cubicle with 1 hook to hang your clothes and hope they don't get wet is not excellent! Water was ok if you went early enough. The toilets were not cleaned every day that we were there, and one tiny sink in the ladies' (like you get in an under-the-stairs cloakroom). The washing up area was right outside the ladies' toilets where the door was kept permanently open. Only 2 washing up sinks which was ok for us as it wasn't busy.
Lots of comments about the owner being friendly - a bit over-friendly in my opinion (I don't really like being called 'Hun'). The site was cheaper than other places we have stayed

Me the Wife and Max the dog have just returned from a week camping at Buttyland. It was a great site nice and peaceful at night. The owners are very friendly and always seemed to be on the go. It was a bit muddy but if you can control the weather then please do so as I am sure a lot of people would appreciate that. A lot of the sites in the area had closed due to the bad weather they had had but Buttyland stayed open and we managed and the owner put hay down to try and help keep the mud at bay. Toilets were always cleaned and kept clean which with the weather would of been a task itself. The shower cubicles were small but I managed and the water was always hot(the showers are free), I didn't find any problem getting a shower but if it had been busier there may of been so work out the best time to go for yourself. There is a games room with a pool table and a couple of slot machines,(more money spent. There is a shop within a few minutes drive and only about 5 miles from Tenby and there are plenty of things to do in the area for all ages from a open farm to theme parks and walks.
All in all we enjoyed Buttyland and hope to visit there again next year what ever the weather we still enjoyed ourselves well worth the price.

Had a lovely break in Buttyland. Weather on the Saturday was very windy and raining. Field the next morning was very muddy and cars had trouble getting out of the field, some had to be towed by the owners tractor (you cant control the weather). Clean and tidy, but dated toilets and showers, something the owners are aware of and are going to change but they only took on the site a year ago. They have made quite a few changes already especially the addition of a small games room with pool table which my children really enjoyed (especially when it was raining). Football goal posts in field which are always a bonus for the kids and there were a few picnic tables in one of the fields (could do with some in the other fields). There is a washing maching and tumble dryer on site (very dated but it does the job if you need a quick rinse). All in all a very pleasant holiday

My family and I stayed at Buttyland/Arreton (not sure which is its real name) for the Bank Holiday weekend even though we live locally as all other campsites seemed to be closed. The owners were friendly and the campsite was a good size.
The toilet block was full a lot of the time as there were so many people on the campsite at the time. The showers were either a trickle of hot water or a blast of cold.
We thought that it was very expensive, but then again it was peak season. We went to manorbier beach which is about a mile away, great beach.

Fantastic location and very friendly owners. Campsite had lots of mud in the entrance but hay was put over it which helped a bit, but then its not their fault it rained buckets! Toilets were a bit smelly but they were kept well stocked with loo roll, soap and towels. Showers were a bit of a let down, very cramped and there wasnt any hot water and it kinda trickled but then I was using it at peak time.
Campsite was a good size and very family orientated, think they need to stress to campers the need for 3-6m between tents as we came back to find the tent next to us with its guyline in front of our tent entrance !
