This was our first visit to The Steadings and are pleased to say it won't be our last. The site is very easy to find being well signposted and we were very warmly welcomed on arrival. We had booked in advance.
The pitch was massive! So large in fact that we were offered the use of a longer hook up lead by the site owners if we needed it. The pitching field was fairly flat (good for pitching) with a slight slope (good for drainage). Sunshine and showers for the weekend but enjoyed a lovely walk to the fox pub through the nature reserve.
Our daughter enjoyed the play facilities at the site and the new toilet/shower facilities were excellent (new flooring being laid very soon)
Due to the April thunder showers we headed off a few miles to Foxhall Stock car racing (a new experience worth a visit!) The campsite is being sensitively expanded at the moment. A very peaceful site with no road noise evident.
Good water and waste facilities. Had the feeling that the owners were always on hand and only had to ask but we weren't pestered by them at all - just how it should be.
The owners are obviously spending a lot of time and money on this site and best of luck to them for the future. We will be back later this year!

As mentioned on previous reviews, the one thing which the site cannot control is the weather and it certainly did us no favours during our 4 night stay with heavy rain showers, frost at night and a biting wind at times.
Didn't mar our enjoyment of the site though which was quiet after the Easter weekend.
The owners/wardens were friendly, showed us to our pitch, detailed where everything was and were then available if required.
The toilet block was good but, I would guess, still needs finishing off with a warmer floor covering (it was very cold in there at 7-30 on a frosty morning).
The site is well located with some good walks and the Fox pub is an easy walk away, either through the nature reserve or along the road. Food and service were good here and also at the pub in Waldringfield (which we also walked to but it's a bit of a trek.
If you're looking for a lively site with a lot going on around you then this is not for you. It's a lovely quiet, friendly site and yes, I would recommend it.

This was own first trip out with our new caravan and we certainly made the right choice of caravan site.
Very good showers and toilets. Very clean and tidy.
The owners and site wardens are friendly and welcoming.
At the time of our stay the shop next to reception was just being fitted out with a selection of things that you might need, toilet rolls, toilet cleaner, ice creams and hot drinks
The play area is small but adequate. Any ball games are to be played in the field just behind the rally field as it had just been reseeded.
We wished we had stayed for longer and we will recommend Steadings to our friends.

Aside from the poor weather, that really wasn't playing fair over the Easter bank holiday, we loved our first trip to Steadings and it surpassed our expectations.
We pitched our tent up, together with our friends staying in their caravan in the tent field, which is well graded and even after the recent rainfall the ground is sandy enough to drain quickly. All areas have EHU so there's no restriction on placement (altough some areas of the tent field need a lead longer than 15m - I'm sure the site would lend an extension but we didn't need to ask)
Pitches are well spaced and leave plenty of room for moving about, playing chase etc and setting out an Easter egg hunt :)
Toilets and washing facilities are as stated last review, with plans to improve flooring with non-slip vinyl.
Our little girls also loved the play area which was adequate for their needs.
Local countryside is lovely and would've been even better with touch of sunshine. Nice little walk to the pub in the village, which has received some sprucing up since our last trip to the area (a few years ago), so has lost a little bit of its quirky charm, but still had some great local beer and cider on tap.
Aldeburgh have great Fish and Chips and you can park up on the sea wall at the end of the high street, with a great pebble beach. Orford also is a must visit for the Old Smokery, fantastic smoked cheddar and bacon - we always bring some home.
The owners and site team are all very welcoming, helpful and considerate. They have certainly put a lot of planning and thought into the site and it shows.
We'd like to keep this one to ourselves, but feel we must leave a review as the site and the team deserve the credit. Thank you!

Stayed at the steadings for 4 nights while viewing properties in the area. Facilities were excellent, the toilet block put many of the houses we were viewing to shame. I have no idea about the floor covering as I didn't think it was sensible to walk there barefoot across gravel.
Our daughter enjoyed the play area and watching the rabbits. Plenty of shopping nearby, lovely countryside, we didn't make the pub but will next time. Very friendly and helpful wardens and staff.
We did have a lot of industrial noise from the car repair place adjacent but only during the day and it is very quiet at night so didn't spoil our stay.

An amazing campsite. The owners are fantastic and friendly and we really felt welcomed.
There is a brand new spotless toilet block with lovely showers. In the ladies block there are 4 toilets and two showers. There is a disabled toilet. In the Gents there were 2 toilets and two showers. There is a laundry as well. There was an area for washing dishes with plenty of hot water.
The pitches are lovely and we were given a sheltered pitch for our trailer tent. The bird life is fantastic.
There are lots of really lovely walks in the area and you can even walk through the woodland to a lovely pub with excellent food. Not too far from the site is a very nice farm shop selling fresh bread and veg and cakes.
We found it very peaceful and had excellent sunny weather. We certainly will go again. There is a children's play area but not having children we did not take much notice of it.

The site was very quiet (good) and beautifully clean.
The site was well signposted from the A12, although the site is accessed via a single track road there isn't too much oncoming traffic and there are plenty of passing places.
The showers and toilets were fine, although the new owners intend to upgrade both of them.
We were given details and maps of a couple of walks around Newbourne / Waldringfield which we followed.
The countryside was superb and the pubs (The Fox and The Maybush) sold great beer and classy food. It's probably worth booking a table if you intend to eat at either in peak times.

Lovely site - the new owners were very friendly and have plans to develop the site which sound great.
Our kids spent plenty of time in the play area and riding their bikes around. There is a dog walking field next to the site in which they could fly a kite (not enough wind on our visit though).
The walk to the pub was no more than 10 minutes and well worth a visit - the food was lovely. The toilets and showers were fine, one of the things the owners are going to upgrade
We will definitely be returning to this site - hopefully in the near future

We have been using this site for many years and sadly watched a gradual decline.
However, new owners (who are very helpful and dedicated) have already started improvements and plans for next year are ambitious and have met with full approval from site users, who have been consulted and informed throughout.
A quiet and spacious site where you do not feel packed in like sardines!
New toilet and shower block, shop, children's play area are all planned or under way.
Lovely surroundings and touring base.

My partner and I stayed at Steadings 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The area is kept immaculate as are the toilets, washing and shower area. Even though we didn't have children with us, there is a childs play area which looks to be very child friendly. The new owners have already initiated the planning process of a shop and new ablution area, currently they do sell drinks, bread, milk etc from their on site home.
All fields are very well drained so rain will not be a problem for the camper. The camping area is serviced well and has EHU. There are other areas for caravans and motorhomes but as we didn't stay in either of these its unfair to review services that we didn't use. Unusually for a campsite the waste area is very clean and is very nice to see that waste is divided for recycling. The campsite is secured by an electric barrier. Upon your arrival you will be given an access code for entry.
The site itself is very peaceful and located in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Locally there are a vast array of things to do, but if you were to go unprepared then there are local interest leaflets available to give you an idea about the area. Both owners will also be on hand to give you sound advice on how to fulfil your time best. At the rear of the site is a footpath which leads to the local Public House, The Fox Inn. On route you will walk through Newbourne Springs which pass a few beautful secluded homes. The owners have cleared this footpath themselves to aid in your finding of the pub.
The pub is quintessentially a typical English Countryside Pub. Its beautiful flowers adorn the outer brickwork and set before it is a patio seating area along with carpark should you choose to drive. A beer garden is around the rear of the pub. Internally you will find a beautiful bar area with seating for meals which are priced quite reasonably and of high quality. I would highly recommend a walk to the pub to see the lengths the owners have undertaken to open up this route.
To summarise. A beautiful campsite, very friendly and welcoming which is worthy of a 5 star rating and visit from yourself and your family.
