I can only agree with everyone, this site is a gem, I think in this Olympic Year it should receive the gold medal. We were in the small, secluded, sheltered, flat tent field. Although small it was not crowded, I think it only takes 8 tents. It was very friendly. The shelter was superb having had two very wet and windy weeks previously in other parts of the country. It was surprising to walk out of the field to realise at times there was quite a wind blowing.
The 2nd tent field with fire pits was more exposed but chatting at the washing up the people on that field said it wasn't bad, and the views are beatiful.
There was always hot water and the toilet block and washing up areas were always clean.
When we arrived we were shown all the facilities and shown to our pitch, and our guide made sure we were happy with the pitch before he left (we were).
Although the little shop closes at five the wardens are sitting outside waiting for arrivals and I went at 6pm one evening and they would have opened up for me if they had what I wanted (insect repellent).
The owners came round one evening just to chat and were very knowledgeable of the area helping us to find a cycle route for the next day.
I have been camping for many years and for me this has got to be my number 1 site.

What a great campsite - one of the best I have been to.
We visited on bank holiday weekend and were positioned in the tent field near the play area, which was ideal for us with a 3 year old as part of our party.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful, the pitches spacious and the facilities are the best I have seen. A modern clean shower and wash block, use of fridge/freezer and plenty of washing up space.
A 15 minute walk to the Fox at Newbourne is worth it, especially as you walk through the nature reserve to get there.
It's in a great location to explore the Suffolk coast, highly recommended

We arrived midweek and were greeted by friendly & helpful staff.
We were shown to our two pitches (one with electric hook up) and they were really spacious, easily accommodating our two tents and cars. There were two picnic benches provided in our field and we were able to 'nab' one which was really useful.
The toilet/shower block was pristine and provided lovely hot showers. There was a large washing up area with 3 large sinks and a laundry room also with fridge/freezer available to use. There were great recycling facilities, too.
Foot & cycle paths leading from the site were pointed out to us & we walked and cycled to the pretty local pub, The Fox.
Tesco at Martlesham is up the road so handy for forgotten shopping and there is also an on site shop.
We were fantastically lucky with the weather which was gloriously hot, an unexpected bonus.
The only slight gripe we had was the noise (and sometimes, smells) that came from a vehicle workshop behind the hedge next to our pitches - the site staff did mention it & it wasn't continuous, but it did spoil the tranquillity of lazing & reading outside the tent, particularly the overenthusiastic but out of tune singing, bless! This all stopped at 5. 30pm & I guess it doesn't occur at weekends, so it was no big deal really.
Despite this small annoyance, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.
NB. Its worth checking in the paper recycling bins as we found a great little map someone had discarded which provided us with all the routes for cycling and walking around the area!

This was our first camping trip; found this site using the site finder on this site.
When we booked, found staff friendly and helpful on the phone - they explained that they only had one pitch left in with the touring caravans but there were other tents in with us. The site is easy to find being just off the A12 but still felt very rural.
Plenty of room for our Icarus 600 with canopy, good sheltered pitch, we were led to our site by one of the staff who made sure we were OK and we knew where everything was.
The site was clean and tidy and well laid out - not too far to walk to the facilities. Clean toilets which smelt fresh also (did not have that nasty public loo pong!), wash up sinks also well maintained, always hot water and only had to wait a couple of mins Sunday morn for the shower.
Site is well suited for families with a small play area and a field to play ball games. Our 5 and 3 yr old found things to do and the eldest met some new friend's from the two pitches next to us. The site feels safe and is secure with staff living on site.
We really liked the fact that ball games around the tents are not allowed, no chance of an errant football crashing into you, the tent or the car! The ball field is only a two min walk away with plenty of space.
A good mix of age groups on the site and not noisy. The owners evicted a group from the site sat eve so they are happy to step in if needed. There always seemed to be somebody on hand in the background if you needed help.
If I had to make a recommendation for improvement, I would go for a larger kiddies play area but that is really about it - you will have a great time should you visit!
Went to the Suffolk Punch Trust and the beach both worth a visit. Ate in the Fox Public house of Sat eve. Food was fine though nothing special.
In short, the site is a credit to the owners and we will definitely be going back some time soon. Lots to do in the area.

We have camped at Steadings twice this year and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits.
It's a small quiet site in a rural location, facilities are limited but the toilet block is modern and spotlessly clean, and the on-site shop stocks the usual essentials. The proprietors are friendly and helpful.
There is a small playground for younger children and lots of room for games on the rough grass of the Overflow Field.
The adjacent 'Newbourne Springs' nature reserve is a real delight, with a network of footpaths through a surprising variety of habitat.
Excellent food and beer is available at 'The Fox'; a pleasant 15 minute walk away along the edge of the nature reserve.
For a real treat book a pitch in the 'Valley View' field with an open fire and enjoy an evening with the owls.

We are a couple in our 50's who decided to have a weekend away camping and picked this park.
Due to location it is best to have own transport.
Staff friendly and willing to help whenever they can.
The site is well kept divided into sections.
The toilet block is modern and kept clean, with
Washing up Facilities, it has a laundry area. There is a fridge/freezer for everyone to use (without charge). We were able to keep own iceblocks frozen.
We walked to the Fox Pub and had lunch there the food was excellent.
We would recommend this site to anyone and we will be going back again.

So off we went 6 adults and 5 children all under the age of 10. This was the first camping trip for most of the pack so we wanted it to be a good experience.
From the moment we booked they were friendly and helpful. We found it easy to find, however the brother law weren't impressed we kept giving the wrong postcode and it took them half a day to arrive from Essex.
First impression was that the park was clean and they had good security which put our minds at rest with small children.
The shower block and toilets are together with a washing up sinks around the side which was always clean. I understand the park has been developing over the last year so everything is new and of good quality. Perhaps more showers would be an advantage however did not have to queue long and they were decent showers and bigger than normal so the children were able to come in together. They do have a disabled toilets/shower and they did offer us to use them when we had all the kids together.
One of the reasons we booked this was because they had a park. The park is small but again new and quality equipment with a fence around it for safety.
We booked late and being a big group and being from Essex I was concerned about the noise we would make. We stayed in the main touring field. The ground was perfect – flat and grassy, allowing easy pitching and a great area to play. We hired fire pits for the weekend and they delivery our wood etc for the evening. They did suggest for next time to ask for the field at the back next to the nature park as that field is designed for large groups however they did not come and complain about the noise. They did remind us each night of the time and to be respectful and turn the music down or off due to the time.
The maintenance guy was really friendly and on one of the days he brought the tractor down to our tents to allow the children to sit in it and have pictures which they really enjoyed.
At the back of the site there is a path you can walk down to get easy access to the pub. We did go there on the way back from the beach however we weren’t met with a warm welcome. The men had no tops or sleeveless tops on and we were told we couldn’t go inside showing tops of arms! We did go back the following day for afternoon dinner, we did ring and book a couple of tables however again we felt we weren’t made to feel welcome. To be honest it was like they had never seen children before. The food was expensive and to be honest we would not recommend it if you have children with you.
There is a stock car racing about 5 miles away and this was a brilliant night out, does get busy so do not leave it too late to get there.
Overall we had a lovely weekend and will be returning next year – if they have us back!

It was our first family camping holiday, with 3 children and a dog. We picked the site because the pictures of the toilet facilities looked good and the website said the pitches were well drained. With all the bad weather the well drained part was an important selling point.
When we got to the campsite the site staff were very friendly and helpful they showed us to our pitch we explained we were first time campers and they said they would be happy to help if we got into any difficulties with our tent.
The pitch size was good plenty of room for our 8 man tent, car and space to sit out. The area had shade for the dog it was just perfect!
We had forgotten our fridge blocks but that was no trouble as there was a fridge for anyone to use at no charge!
The pub was a lovely short walk away and was really pretty; it was also very friendly and sold great food. There was a small playground but my son didn’t need it as he soon made friends and played Frisbee with the other children.
The toilets and shower facilities were very clean/modern and there was plenty of hot water. The wash up area had hot and was clean too. We called on the way back from the shops to book a fire pit and when we got back it had been delivered to our pitch!
We borrowed blocks for a bbq, the service was fantastic we felt really looked after, staff and the boss always around to help and easy to identify from their shirts.
We used our English Heritage cards at Framlingham Castle and Orford so there was some great free days out nearby!Steadings have a lovely site, its well looked after and the friendly support when we needed it made our first experience a great one,
We will definitely go camping again! re visit this one at some point and confidently recommend it to any of our friends!

I would like to say firstly a big thank you to Damon and his great team for putting up with us at the weekend. There was a group of 14 of us (mixed bunch of family's and single guys) housed into 6 tents.
The first thing we all commented on was just how wonderfully clean, tidy and well presented this campsite is. We all stayed in the back field where they have designated firepits, I would so highly recommend this field as it is a great feature watching fire burning whilst camping and supping beer.
Even after the 11pm curfew to keep the noise down we unknowingly were probably a little too loud still, the wardens then came over and politely reminded us of the time but still encouraged us to enjoy ourselves.
This campsite really did tick all boxes and we would highly recommend to all genres of people.
So looking forward to booking the next trip to Steadings Park, if they'll have us.

It was our first visit to this site and we will definitely be returning. We arrived at 8pm and were met by the night warden, a very friendly chap that gave us all the information we needed.
We were pitched in the corner of the smaller touring field. It was a very generous sized pitch and posts at other side clearly marked the boundaries to us and our neighbours. There was plenty of room for our Montana 6, car and a Quecha tarp.
The pitches are around the perimeter only so plenty of room for the children to run around in the middle. The site is flat and the grass well drained.
The site was full by the end of the Friday but still felt spacious and was very quiet at night. The site welcomes fire pits (one of the reasons we chose the site) and if you don't have your own you can hire one from them including a supply of wood.
The play area was fenced off at 8pm and re-opened at 9am and everyone was respectful of this and the no noise after 11pm rule.
The facilities are new and modern. The showers are powerful and hot. The washing up area was covered and clean and plenty of hot water.
Definitely recommend crabbing at Bawdsey Quay.
Lots of shops and places to eat nearby. Tesco Extra 10 mins up the road.
Looking forward to returning in the future.
