This site is in a great location, there are many places to visit in the area including the national trust properties of Chirk Castle, Eddrig and Powys. The train station is about half a mile from the site and you can take a train to Chester or Shrewsbury which are both within easy driving distance if preferred. There are some lovely walks you can do from the site, particularly across the aqueduct or for the brave under the long tunnel over the canal. The walks also lead you to some nice pubs that do good food. You can walk into Chirk which has a couple of pubs, hotel and Indian restaurant as well as a co-op and bakery, butchers etc. Park farm is a great family day out and with about 75% of it being indoors it is a good all weather option. The site itself has spacious pitches, 2 shower blocks (so one is always open), and a small play area. As has been mentioned there is constant background noise from the factory nearby, however within a few hours we found that we did not really notice. Without the factories it would be the perfect site. The pitches in the woodland are very secluded but the noise is a bit louder and because of the trees they are very shaded. Recommend booking as it was really busy when we were there.

Just spent a week at this wonderful site, loads of places to take the dogs for a walk, loads of things to do, we walked down the canal to the Poachers pocket pub, what a lovely place to stop and have a drink, we ate there twice as well, good meals and good value we got a free bottle of wine for ordering 2 steaks, you can also walk up to chirk castle directly from the site, with a couple of shops with all yummy home made products, would definitely recommend this site, and we will definitely be visiting again.

The other reviews here give a good flavour of this members-only CC site.
We never actually saw the chipboard factory, but it appears to be to the north so it most affects the 'glade' pitches on the left as you enter the site, where we happened to have pitched. Regrettably this did cast a cloud over our 3 night stay, as it operates round the clock - whilst it's not loud, or especially noticeable during the day, it means that the site is never truly quiet at night - a bit like a 'plane flying overhead that never actually passes by. A large branch also fell off a sycamore at about 5 o'clock one morning, so it will be the open area on the other side of the site for us next time!
There is a designated children's play area big enough to kick a ball around in; and one central shower/toilet block to a high standard.
For pub meals, the 'Poacher's Pocket' offers unremarkable but quick, basic and very good value food - even when it's busy, service is quick and waiting times short.
Chirk Castle is worth a visit, as is Erddig, another nearby National Trust owned country house which gives a more than usual insight into the lives and times of its former owners and servants. There is local walking (including the 1.5 mile walk to the castle) and anyone with an interest in canals will want to walk half a mile or so to Chirk aqueduct - just turn right after the railway bridge, having left the site.

A well kept , spacious, site with very good toilet/washing facilities. Good selection of grass pitches and hard stabdings, many in nicely secluded little corners of the site. Lots of good walks immediately adjacent to the site itself, and very handy for the many other longer local rambles over hill and dale, and along the extensive canal network. The constant motorway-like background roar on some parts of the site, and huge cloud-like steam plume appearing over the surrounding trees from the nearby chipboard factory, does however somewhat dilute the otherwise "away from it all in the countryside", feel of the site. Anyone allergic to the smell of chocolate should steer clear too, due to periodic clouds of this sweet smell from the nearby chocolate factory. These aspects of the Chirk site don't seem to bother most people, and overall it didn't bother us, but this industrial aspect of Chirk is worth knowing about if you are looking for a completely "away from the 21st century, lost in the countryside" type of camping experience.

We loved this site, beautifully kept, clean, warm toilet block, lovely secluded pitches under the trees and woods to walk in - what more could you ask from a site? The village is about a mile away so easily walkable. It is a members only site.

Had a part seasonal pitch at Lady MP during the Autumn a couple of years ago. We loved it. There are a choice of 2 areas - an open one the central grassy area or the more secluded pitches in woodland. We had one of the latter and enjoyed the privacy it provided. The site is up to the usual Caravan Club standards with well appointed, clean toilet block and electric hook-ups.
The park is in a beautiful rural area with several good pubs and an interesting walk along the canal complete with tunnel and aqueduct - and a pub near the towpath. The kids and we loved it this rural area for great countryside walks with a number beginning at the site. There are several shops in the village including a small Co-op supermarket. There are, also, a Church, restaurant and chippy. There is, also, a MacDonald’s restaurant on the A5 about 2 miles away if you’re a fan of “Big Macs”. Chirk castle is right next to the Park although we never got around to visiting it. It has very handy access from the A5/A483 (Wrexham road) and Wrexham and Llangollen are in easy driving distance.
It is off a small country road and well screened from the road by woodland. The local railway station is nearby. If the the Cadbury's factory is still on the far side of the village it gives off a lovely chocolatey smell although it cannot be seen from the site. We didn't use our awning on our hardstanding pitch but I think the wardens sold rock-pegs so that's perhaps a clue to what some of the pitches are like. We would be very happy to go back there.

This is a lovely friendly site, with good facilities, would highly recomend it. There are some lovely walks around the site, its a must to walk through the cannal tunnel under the site and across the aquaduct. The site is good for children but can be busy at weekends well worth booking in advance. We are hoping to go back soon.

Usual good CC standard. Busy site at weekends especially, best to prebook. I would avoid the pitches off to the left as you drive round as there was noticeable noise at night from the local chipboard factory. However all the pitches there were occupied so perhaps it doesn't bother most people. Other side of the site is very quiet.

November 2004 Very nice site (usual caravan club standards) with a large central play area. Tip - try and avoid the pitches under the spruce trees as they drop a sappy residue and needles. We found that the hardstandings were best - although 1 of them requires an additional extention lead because the hook-up post is more than 20m away (I think it is pitch no.111. The warden let us borrow one though). Chirk is a nice little village with a few shops and an Indian restaurant. Depending on which month you go you can also visit Chirk Castle which is in walking distance from the site. We would go back there.
