This was our 1st visit to Lady Margaret and it certainly won't be our last. A number of our friends have been and return regularly and had told us how great a site this is. I'm glad we followed friends though as it's not easy to find and the signs are limited.
The drive down past the Cadburys factory had the children excited with the smell of chocolate in the air this was a good start to the weekend.
The entrance gates to Chirk Castle greet you ahead of the turn off for the site and they are extremely impressive, it is like a scene from pride and prejudice - fantastic photo opportunity too.
The small drive up to the site entrance is tree lined and has a relaxing feel. The system for booking in is the same as with all Caravan club sites give in your name the wardens find out if you’ve stayed before and explain the system and give you a map of the site. Once you’ve chosen your pitch and there are some fantastic pitches to choose from like bluebell dell you return to the warden with the number of the pitch and you are given a tag to the electronic barrier. Some pitches are set out in a wooded area and I would agree with the previous review if you don’t want your car and van covered in leaves or pine needles you should pitch on the grass area.
This site is slightly different as there are no keys for the shower block which is great especially as we have a boy and a girl who usually need the toilet at the same time! Or have to worry about them loosing them or leaving them in the lock.
The site is quite big, we went on the May Day weekend and it was fairly full but didn’t feel over crowded. We hardly saw the children who were off on their bikes, in the play area or walking the dog.
The toilets and shower block are warm and very clean and signs clearly displayed the cleaning times and as there are 2 shower blocks 1 is always open. As with other sites the dishwashing area is an asset and the only time the children want to help with the dishwashing! There are recycling points for glass and paper everything else we took home with us.
The wardens are visible and friendly and stopped to chat to us most mornings; they even recommended a wonderful restaurant in the Ceiriog valley – The west arms – fantastic service and food with friendly attentive staff. There are board games and books to keep the children occupied and there are some great visitors’ books with entries from many celebrities, though we didn’t meet any on our visit!
The footpath through the woods is idyllic and if you turn left and follow the road to the round about, you will come to the viaduct and aqua duct which offers a beautiful walk with a few pubs to stop and rest along the way – so relaxing. The children thought it was great watching the boats and waving and saying hello to the people as they sailed by. There was a canal boat offering craft sessions and selling what was made from beautiful statues to hand made cards. Are you brave enough to go through the long dark tunnel over the canal, take a torch or hope a boat comes through with a light on? Good fun and exciting for the children and adults alike!
The swimming baths in Wrexham and Plas Madoc Leisure centre near Llangollen are great even if the weather isn’t. They have slides and Plas Madoc has a wave machine, the price is for an hour of fun and the cafe on site have great value children’s meals.
The information room on site has leaflets and details of local events, activities, restaurants, bus/train timetables etc and from this we found an event taking place in Llangollen in Sept so decided to book in before we left.
We had a wonderful long weekend and would recommend this site to anyone its well worth a stay for either a relaxing weekend or as a base to visit so many beautiful places. Give it a go you won’t be disappointed.

Very nice Site, close by is the Telford aquaduct and Viaduct, good for easy walks with a book available at reception £1.50 well worth it. Spar with everything you desire about 1 mile up the road. Very friendly site staff Papers milk bread etc at reception , Llangolen Aquaduct about 5 miles from site, this is the big one 128ft above the river where barges seem to be flying across the bridge Lots of local pubs, Indian Restaurant and Take aways if required, lots to do we would revisit again.

Excellent site. Ultra clean, friendly wardens. For those who like a walk, walk towards Chirk railway station and at the mini roundabout turn right, continue for about 400yards to the next mini roundabout, right in front of you will see Telfords aquaduct, which is about 200 foot above ground level, walk across the aquaduct (don't look down), follow the towpath for about 25 minutes or so and stop for a beer at the Poachers pub, or if you like the dark.Instead of walking across the aquaduct walk in the opposite direction through the tunnel which seamed to take for ever. Keep hold of the children cos it really is dark.
Good butchers/bakery in Chirk. Cash machine in village centre
For some strange reason the pitches just past the shower block can't get sky, yet those on the lower level can

We have just spent a wonderful weekend at this tranquil site. This is the first Caravan Club site that we have used. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The site is set in Woodlands and is very clean and tidy. The site is well laid out with most pitches being hardstanding. It is located next to Chirk Castle and a Cadbury factory - we were greeted to the warm smell of chocolate coming from the factory on sunday morning yummy! We could choose any pitch we liked and just had to inform the staff which one you were on so that a key fob could be issued to you for gaining access to the site through automatic barriers. The toilets and showering facilities were immaculate and the site is very keen on recycling as they had recycling points located. They have special walking areas for your four legged friends. Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff here as even the falling leaves where kept in check by the staff. This site is open all year and we enjoyed it so much we are thinking about returning over the christmas period. Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Wrecsam are within easy reach. We spent a lovely day in Shrewsbury which is worth a visit - especially the Dingle in the central park. Would we recommend this site to anyone yes we would - and as it is a CC site we found it a lot cheaper than some of the normal sites that we have used with less facilities. We will return here!

Ok as always the not so good bits:
We will be finding pine needles in the awning and caravan for the next month ! They are everywhere
This site hasn't quite got the same feel as others caravan club sites with the friendly faces and approach to members. Couldn't quite put our finger on it
There is a lot of noise from what may have been a firing range or something similar.
Good bits:
Site is well set out. The roads are tarmacked and the pitches are very spacious with EHU / etc
There is security barrier entrance
On site storage facilities
Well lit up at night
Very hot water to wash up in the washing up area
The showers were hot and not the push button type but could do with the water pressure turning up some. Clean tidy facilities as always on the CC Sites
Heating within the facilities made a big difference
Access to and from site is ok but watch for the railway bridge by the station as it is tight
Disabled facilities were clean, warm and got everything that you would need
Overall:
Its not a bad site at all and is one we will return to

A lovely site especially in Autumn, the surrounding woodland is beautiful with the seasonal colours. If you don't want your van and car infested with leaves go onto the grass area. NT at Chirk Castle and a house called Eddig are nearby and well worth a visit. The nearby canal is great for walks / cycling. Typical Caravan Club Site, well looked after and clean with friendly Wardens. There's a great butcher in the village selling wonderful welsh lamb!

Great site but be advised that there is a constant background hum from a nearby wood processing factory. It depends on the wind direction as to how noticeable it is.
The site is as good and as well run as any Caravan Club site and the wardens were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there appeared to have been some vandalism in the toilet block when we were there.
One great nuisance was that the waste water emptying point at the toilet block was up two steps - one to get onto the path around the toilet block and the other to get the wastemaster up the big ledge that runs around the waste water drain. I thought that the club had done away with all these back breakers.

Stayed on this site at the end of April, The wardens are great and very helpful. The site is very tranquil with areas set in woods and others in open areas but all well sheltered. The on site facilities were spotless and a credit to the site. There is a variety of different things to do from the site, from visiting the nearby castle to walking over the aquaduct. Llangollen is also worth a visit and the trevor aquaduct which is 127ft high (very windy). I recomend this site to all it can be as peacefull or as lively as you wish to make it.

We have just spent a fantastic weekend at this park. We took our 2 granddaughters with us and they didn't get bored once. The facilities on site are excellent with spotless toilets and showers, disabled friendly, with a great safe play area, ideal dog walks and the park wardens are very friendly and helpful with nothing to much trouble.
The park was experiencing some difficulty with the electrics but we were kept informed throughout the day about the situation by the wardens, it was just one of those things that happens, we switched to gas so it wasn't that much of a problem to us. We went for a walk along the canal and through a tunnel, which went on for 461 meters, over an aquaduct still following the canal. Our grandchildren thought this was awesome. This site is great and full credit to the wardens and it is one site that has gone on our return list. There is nothing we can say in critisism about this site.

This site is up to the usual CC spec and a short walk down to Chirk brings you to a couple of pubs and a SPAR to do your shopping if you're eating in. We only stayed for a night to try out our new motorhome. Walked into Chirk in the afternoon visiting a couple of pubs and then along the canal to a lovely pub -The Bridge Inn I think- When we came back though it was getting dark and you definitely need a torch to see where you are going. On the Sunday morning we had a leisurely walk up to the impressive Castle and then a shortened one over the fields. A lovely site.
