Fabulous site in a sheltered, walled location 6 mins from the high street and train / buses.
Friendly wardens, quiet and peaceful. Fantastic toilets, and facilities.
Flat well serviced pitches on both grass and gravel. Some really nice touches including a TV and pool room, DVD and book Library in the laundry.
Recommended.

I spent 3 weeks on this site whilst working at the commonwealth games. From the start the warden was very friendly and extremely helpful. I was asked after a week if I could move my pitch to save the grass dying under my awning and they even offered to help me move. That doesn't happen on most sites that I have stayed on. The site itself is very pleasant with lots of flowers and is very quiet in the evenings, (a good thing). The staff take great pride in keeping the site in tip top condition. The facilities are excellent, with washing areas for clothes, dishes and the toilet / shower block was always clean. If I ever go back to this area again I will use this site without fail.

This site is definitely one of the best sites I have stayed on. We arrived late and were met by the owner who checked us in and gave us a tour of the facilities:
Large, warm, homely, shower/toilet block which were spotlessly clean and the shower was lovely and hot.
Dish washing area with cooking facilities for campers inc. Crockery
Laundry with a selection of books
Large Recreation area with TV, sofas and pool table
All areas were accessible wi your pass key, including a secured gate to the local park /swing park
The site was very busy and there were a good few families camping along side us but despite this the whole weekend was very peaceful and quiet of an evening.
This was the most well maintained site we have stayed on and a credit to the owner's hard work. We look forward to our next visit.

Excellent 2 night stay with my 5 yr old - first taste proper camping. Lots mature trees surrounding.
Only tent on first night, quiet area near park
Locked gate for access for site residents between site / playpark (decent one)
Friendly staff and good clean shower/toilet blocks
Tv/pool room no unaccompanied children
Good washing up area with kettle /microwave / freezer / fridge for use by campers
Will return again, fantastic modern playpark down by seaside - wooden climbing ramps/platforms, rope bridges, helter skelter, zip slide, sand area and separate enclosed rubberised paddling pool - desert island with stepping stones/rope bridge and slide

Just spent a week at woodlands, have to say this is one of the best sites I have stayed at.
Site through the week was quiet but come the weekend was very busy. Even when full the site was extremely peaceful.
The Wardens were extremely helpful and keep the site absolutely immaculate. Mainly grass pitches but the hard standing pitches are huge with room for van, awning and car with room to spare. Water and waste on Hard standing pitch makes for an easy life.
The Washroom facilities are probably the best I have seen on any site in Scotland, kept spotlessly clean and big enough that there was never a rush even when the site was full.
For any golfers this site is perfect, its about 2 minutes in the car to the championship course and within a ten minute drive there at least 3 other courses.
The site is on the edge of a huge park with play area for the kids and for pets alike, accessed through a locked gate which the site key works.
Will definitely be going back
If you're looking for a site packed full of things for the kids then this is probably not for you but for anyone like myself who just wants somewhere to relax then it's perfect.

We stayed 2 nights at woodlands caravan park and had a fantastic time. The site is lovely - lots of beautiful flowers and well maintained grass.
The facilities are excellent - the toilets and showers spotlessly clean and plenty of hot water. Lovely to have fresh flowers, good quality liquid soap and piped music in the loos too.
The addition of a hairdryer was a real bonus - no excuse for camping hair!
The dishwash area also spotlessly clean and great to have the use of the fridge and freezer to refreeze our cool box packs. They really have thought of everything.
Although we did not use the laundry or games rooms they were both very well equipped and again really clean.
Lots of information / leaflets for days out and the wee library was great as my husband had forgotten his book.
Both bill and his wife made us very welcome and were really helpful.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this site to campers and caravanners alike - its also really child friendly with a huge park next door which our dog and niece loved.
Will be back soon!

Woodlands has excellent facilities with mainly grass pitches. Those of us who use awnings need a breathable groundsheet - and may be asked to lift it regularly. Note - tents are allowed to stay in one spot for a week without lifting their (non-breathable) groundsheets. Perhaps more hardstandings should be provided for people with awnings.
Although shielded from its neighbours, there is a large estate across the road and older houses on the other sides. Unfortunately, the public park to the rear doesn't compensate for the noise from the council recycling centre right next door (pitches 7 - 10 & the clothes airers may also get lots of dust). This, along with the noise of the machine guns from the nearby military training area can be intrusive.
It is only a short walk to the local shops - a slope is involved in this route but this is not significant.

Just visited the site for a couple of days, the wettest in history. When we arrived the warden could not have been more helpful.
The site is spotless, the showers are immaculate along with the games room.
Only thing to bear in mind the town is fair walk away, even more when its a walk back up the hill with the shopping! Not a lot in the town/village 1x Co-Op and a poorly stocked Spar so stock up.
Site great base for golfing or coast walks, well worth a stop over

Just returned from yet another perfect wee break at woodlands. Bill & Mary always give a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble - if you need a hand setting up your awning Bill is your man!
Great site with large pitches and excellent facilities. Super for families with the park just through the gate and if you are lucky enough to escape without the kids (as we were on this occasion!) perfect peace!
Super selection of takeaways close at hand and all deliver on site for a small fee of £1. 50. Already booked our return visit! Best site we have visited.

Returned from 3 days at this great wee site. Owner is very friendly, accommodating and will help with any issue you have. Toilets are spot on, plenty showers, fresh flowers in the ladies, in fact the whole site is clean and immaculately well kept. If you like books take along your read books to swap with the ones in the laundry room.
Can't find any faults - location is great, five minutes walk to town, large play area just outside the gate, plenty pubs / hotels, chinese, chippies, and great walks along the coast.
Suggest you give this site a try, you won't be disappointed.
