Absolutely lovely site. It feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, but is actually only 15 minutes from the M5. The site is very accessible, just off a dual carriageway with no scary narrow lanes to traverse! Despite being close to the main road, there is no road noise heard at all.
The site is a very good size, over 2 fields, but with a sensible number of pitches. This means that the grass pitches are huge! The pitches are well cared for, some slightly sloping, but we were okay despite not having levelling blocks. There are also several hardstanding pitches which are also a good size, but seemed more suited to RV's.
There are plenty of electric hook ups, water points and refuse containers dotted around the site.
There is one sizeable utility block, which contains the waste water / chemical points, washing up area, laundry, ladies and gents toilets / showers, and an information room containing leaflets etc for tourist attractions.
All of the amenities are of a very high standard, spotlessly clean and the best I have seen. There was always plenty of liquid soap at the sinks, a hairdyer is provided, and there is also a step for the litle ones to reach the sinks! There was plenty of hot water available at all times, with good, powerful, free showers.
There are swings, a sandpit and a tractor to climb all over, and there is plenty of open space for ball games etc. There is also a separate 'dog walk' area located at the rear of the site. There are also goats and chickens in a pen at the entrance to the site, which the children enjoyed feeding.
There is no shop on site, but there is a petrol station shop located a short distance away, which stocked most foodstuffs. There is a pub at the end of the road, although we did not visit this during our stay.
The site is well located for visiting Taunton, Wells, Yeovil (where the Fleet Air Arm Museum is located, and definitely worth a visit!), and Clarkes Village at Street.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the whole site is a gem. Fees are very reasonable, and I would certainly visit again. I would strongly recommend that you give it a go too!

Probably the nicest site we have visited in the years we have been camping. We camped in the first field in an alcove just right for our 2 tents with electric hook up. The site was very quiet peaceful and kept very tidy.
The showers were lovely, with none of the stupid push button things and the toilet/showers were kept nice and clean (apart from the grass we all trod in there, sorry, but couldn't be helped). The site is within hearing distance of the very busy main road but on the 2nd night it was barely noticeable. We will certainly be going back there several times in the near future.
All in all this site is perfect for a no frills camping experience, if, like us to want to just pitch and chill. No club, no swimming pool but no extreme prices to cover for them. It would be criminal not to visit the pub near the campsite 'The Nags Head'. We had the best sunday carvery there before heading home.

Site just off the motorway spread over two fields, facilities in one field water and hook ups all over (best to book a hook up). Three free showers and two loo's for men - never enough but what camp site has. Nice and clean. Fees collected between 9-10am pay at house if leaving early. £5pppn for four of us in two tents. Two pubs nearby quite reasonable.
Owners friendly - yet to meet an unfriendly one. Visit spoilt by rowdy teenagers playing footie and music till 4am, was I ever like that? Would go again.

This is a gem of a site.
We only stayed one night (Friday) on the journey to Cornwall. The site is only minutes from the M5 and just a nice distance for the journey-break for us.
Lovely clean, quiet site with free showers. Dog-friendly - lovely walks for dogs.
We were in the first field on a hard standing pitch but with grass at the side for kids to pitch their pup-tent (cost us £16 for caravan with EHU, 2 adults, 2 dogs & 2 16yr old kids in a pup tent).
At first glance you don't notice the second field (grass pitches with EHU) which is large with pitches around the perimeter and plenty of space for the kids to play in the middle. The pitches in the 2nd field looked a decent size.
Recycling bins plentiful and plenty of water points (all with grid set in concrete so no muddy grass to avoid when filling water containers.
Pub short walk away, although we unfortunately didn't sample the delights. Supermarkets (24-hr Asda) and take-aways just a short drive away.
We will definitely return - hopefully for more than 1 night - and would highly recommend this site.

Ashe Farm is a pretty, open field site with friendly staff and a nice short walk over the neighbouring hill. Very clean and quiet. The top field has a tarmac access road and several hard pitches with electrics, the lower field is completely grass but has electrics.
In the top field there's also a shower and toilet block which has a sink in the side, and a rotary washing line for your towels. There's a small kids play area with swings and an old tractor (which the big kids seem to love just as much as the little ones!)
Didn't get out much into the local area but there's a pub within walking distance that has a nice adventure playground area for kids, and Taunton is a short drive away with a Sainsburys superstore pretty much the first thing you see.
Downsides: The toilet block is a bit of a walk if you're camping in the lower field and don't have your own loo. (There are fields through a gate at the bottom with hedges to dodge behind if you're lazy). At the time I went (2010) the nearest water tap to my pitch was out of action but hopefully this has been fixed in the off season.

We stopped here on an overnight stop on our way to south Devon.
I had emailed two days before leaving to check on pitch availability and also phoned about 45 minutes before arrival just to make sure they still had a space. The owners were very helpful both by mail and on the phone.
We arrived around 9.45pm after a busy journey on the m5 as it was the friday of whit week.
The site is lovely, great toilet / shower facilities, nice laundry room and a couple of play areas. Our kids loved the tractor to play on.
The site is divided into two fields with both grass and hardstanding pitches which you choose yourself on arrival.
The owners came around about 09.30am and were very friendly. It only cost us £14 there may be a little surcharge for electric but we didn't bother for one short night. Normally we pay £17.50 to stay over at the motorway services so I'm so glad we found this great site just 2 miles from m5 junction 25.
Next time we will stay for a couple of nights so we can explore the local area.
Great site, looking forward to next time.

Visited this site as an overnight stop on the way to Plymouth for ferry. Party included 6 adults with three caravans. A lovely site, lots of room and very clean. More or less straight off motorway. The pub at the beginning of the lane serves good food and real ale, easy walking distance from site.
The site was easy to book by telephone and owners very pleasant. They reserved 3 hardstandings for us, without being asked just in case the site got busy. As it happened we didn't use them and we pitched on the grass. The owner collected rent at 09.00 next morning. We also had a problem with our leisure battery but found a caravan sales about a mile away and they were very helpful.
An added bonus with the site was lots of cherry trees and they were in fruit. Yummy! Seemed a safe haven for kids to play and run around. Fresh air and sunshine, just the tonic. We will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely site although we only stayed 1 night on the way to Swanage and didn't arrive until after sunset. Just enough light to pitch with headlamp.
Toilets and facilities very clean. Paid as we left the site in the morning and the lady I spoke to was very pleasant.
I had previously been in contact with the site owner via email to check the arrival and payment arrangements. The response I got was excellent. In fact I am considering staying at the site for a few days next year as a base to see the surrounding area.
I would highly recommend this site to anyone.

We stayed here for 12 nights with a large tent, 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 10. We chose the site as the fees were very reasonable - we paid £14 per night (without electricity) and because of the good location, near to Taunton. Also, there is a very nice pub - The Nag's Head - just a 5 min walk away. They serve great local beer and lovely food.
We pitched at the far end of the second field. The main advantage to this was loads of space for the children to run around in. There was also a small playground in the middle of this field with 2 swings and a sandpit. This field was never as busy as the other one. The disadvantages were a very long walk to the only toilet block, at the entrance to the site in the 1st field and there were very noisy dogs barking and howling at night. Apparently these belonged to the local hunt. However, after a few nights we didn't hear them - probably got used to the sound! Also, a lot of people who regularly use the site see this field as a dog walking area and don't always pick up after their dogs. There is a designated dog walking area on the site!
The toilets were clean, 4 in each block with 3 showers and a curtained sink. The hot water was a bit erratic but in our first week there were teenage girls using up all the hot water! There is also a small playground outside with swings, a tyre climbing frame and an old tractor to play on.
There is a laundry room, an information room with leaflets and a freezer which is free for freezing ice packs and 2 sinks for washing up.
The children loved it here. We made friends with lots of dogs and the 2 goats and the chickens. The site owners were very friendly, coming every morning to collect the money but you can pay in advance if you want to.
The site was very relaxed and I would definitely recommend it. However, don't take tennis rackets as there isn't a tennis court (the website says there is).

Hosting a group camping trip, the site was a great place to stay. Lots of room and very easy to get to the Taunton area. We'll be back this year with a bigger group as the trip was a success due to the campsite.
The payment method works very well, as we had an unknown number of people attending. Just £5 a night. The lady comes round to collect money in the morning.
We cannot wait to come back in the summer.
